    War in Ukraine — Megathread

Right here: What is happening today is terrible and I definitely do not support the Russian operations in Ukraine. But I believe both parties (USA/NATO and Russia) have their share of responsibility.

    Favourite Video Games?

I am playing Cyberpunk since the next-gen patch was released. And... that's awesome :D It's really the kind of game I love (combination of role playing, shooting and driving). And I am really glad I waited for that patch. It was so different when I tried it last year (the main issue was that...

    Favourite Video Games?

I loved Horizon, and can't wait for the sequel! I am currently playing Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart, which is amazing graphic wise and gameplay wise, and finished Lost Judgment recently (although, I still have some side cases to finish). The latter is a detective game set in Tokyo and Yokohama...

Poll: Should Noise Pollution Be Prohibited by Law?

Sorry to read this. I hate those kind of idiots. How long did it last? Regarding the level, I think 150 dB may be a bit overestimated. I would say this kind of sound, without muffler, is about 120 dB max. Congrats for keeping your calm. I tend to get very short tempered in this kind of situation.

Things People Say When You Tell Them You Have Tinnitus

One of my friends told me, "Oh, I couldn't" [bear this]. Which is probably the most annoying answer I could think of. It's not like we have the choice.

    Loudness of Glass Breaking?

This. You'll experience worse than this breaking glass in the future.. and I'm sure you'll be fine too. But I can't blame you, I checked that thread after a similar incident myself. Of course everything was fine afterwards. Your spike may be anxiety induced.

Can I Go to a NHL Game? Could It Make My Tinnitus Worse?

Well, it's loud. But how loud is it at the ear level of most spectators? 100 dB? 90 dB? It is very brief so I believe it wouldn't do damage, especially with earplugs on. I would be more scared of foghorns used by nearby spectators. All things considered, I think it would be safe to go with...

How Damaging Are Blow Dryers to Hearing and Tinnitus?

Right. I've never been near a professional clipper, it may be louder. Anyway, you are right to bring foam earplugs. I tried once with custom made silicone earplugs and the noise of the shaver against the skin was really annoying.

Will You Get Vaccinated for Coronavirus (COVID-19)? Can It Make Tinnitus or Hyperacusis Worse?

Nope, but I am waiting for the French vaccine (Sanofi), which should be launched in several months. It is a recombinant protein vaccine and not an ARN-based one. Although, I may have to get jabbed with one of those before Sanofi's is released, because here in my country we are kind of forced...

Bummer: Cicadas & Crickets Make My Tinnitus Worse?

From inside a house with open windows? Hard to tell, probably less than 40 dB I would say. Does it cover your voice when you speak? Human speech is about 60 dB at one meter, if I am not mistaken. You can try to compare it to this.

Going to Football Match at Wemble Stadium with Earplugs and Earmuffs — Will My Hearing Be Safe?

I am not familiar with the acoustics of the Wembley stadium, but I would tend to think that, unless you are near hardcore supporters using foghorns, drums and whatnot, you won't take any risk if you're wearing earplugs + earmuffs. Although, personally I would not go because I know constant...

Hearing Protection and Tinnitus: Keep The Tiny Hair Cells Safe — Discuss!

Hi @Damocles. I wanted to ask you, when you wear 25 dB customer plugs with a filter, can you hear a person next to you without them having to raise their voice? In a situation such as walking in a busy street together, for example. Thank you for your time.

Hi @Deamon22, thank you for your message. I tried foam earplugs already but I don't find them very comfortable, and it's not very easy to talk with them. I also find that they're not very easy to insert properly :/ So I hope those custom plugs would offer me more convenience ^^

Is Travelling Business Class More Quiet & Safer for Someone with Hyperacusis?

Huge Tinnitus Spike After Driving in a Car — Or Could This Be Linked to Hay Fever?
