I had the same fear the first time I flew with T but now I like it because I always sit right over/near engine and if I am lucky it does mask my T. I love when that happens!

It is my underestanding that amtriptyline has sometimes helped lower tinnitus, do a search. I've taken it for anxiety, it was a low dose and it didn't help but it didn't hurt my tinnitus either.

Someone posted a link at a RNTS (I think) conference where they played tinnitus sound and had all the attendees listen and the longest anyone could bear it was 7 minutes, does anyone know where this is or recall this post? Thanks

I remember exactly when I got tinnitus but I don't have a video and I was just sitting in a chair, no noise, nothing to cause it that moment.

I'm so sorry. I was at my childs school one day and the firedrill went off when I was standing right under it:( It was terrible and the spike lasted about 2 weeks but it did settle back down to my normal, I think yours will too.

Just try to enjoy the low times as much as you can. I sometimes wish mine was more random instead of constant although that too would take time to get used to because instead of enjoying the lower times you just worry when it's going to get loud again.

I take ambien often, it's my escape from T and it makes no difference to my T volume or pitch.

It's a personal choice. It's not on the black box list and since I already take a few on that list I'd be willing to try Trobalt to see if it helps. I'll try and get a prescription and report back if it helps.

I never had db measured just hz, I had to go to an audiologist that has special equipment. It is my understanding that standard equipment measures 8KHZ and below. Mine is in the 12-14KHZ range.

Mine is in the 12,000-14,ooo range. No it never goes away. Maybe you are having a spike and it will settle back down to your normal range. Try to find something to mask it, load that sound into an ipod and listen to it 24/7, that is what I do.

When I have a blessed low T day this theory works, if I think about it it is there but it is easily put into the background. Unfortunately by day to day firedrill shrill screetching T this route doesn't work. I doubt a person would ever get used to and put into the background a firedrill...

Yes most ENT's are worthless as far as tinnitus goes so go there knowing your questions and possible solutions while you are early on in this nightmare. Early is the best time that this may fade away. Good luck
