For some people caffeine and/or sugar will spike tinnitus, but I've never heard of it increasing T permanently. I think my T is more likely to increase when I'm off caffeine than on... my body is too used to it!

Hey, I've gotten that too! Weirdly enough, my left ear will drop in volume too when that happens. Doesn't last for more than a minute or two but when it does it's pretty close to silent. Spontaneous T gets me excited. :p Except when it overstays it's welcome... :cautious:

T has a weird tendency to jump ship to the other ear sometimes, even when there's no damage involved. For what it's worth, I get some pretty odd intermittent noises in my right ear sometimes. Unfortunately they've become a lot more frequent since my spike. Hope it settles down for you!

Have you considered noise cancelling headphones? Those would block out most outside sounds, while still allowing you to play something quietly that would help you focus on something else besides your T. If you want to make absolutely certain that the noise won't damage you, use a decibel meter...
