    Tinnitus Suddenly Much Worse

Thanks Vincent, I'd not heard of NAC before, it sounds like good stuff. I'm not sure if it would help with my hearing damage as it's not noise-induced, but it's still with a shot I guess.

It Seems to Be Getting So Much Worse :(

@geg1992, have you been to see the ENT doctors? If your ears feel blocked you might have eustachion tube dysfunctuon or something else that's treatable. If your T is getting worse you should also have an MRI to rule out anything like a neuroma. How are you these days anyway? Has it settled down...

    Tinnitus Suddenly Much Worse

Thanks Rina, that's very kind. I went to the ENT on Monday and they didn't know what to do, I then saw an audiovestibular physician the next day very briefly and she prescribed me betahistine, so we will see if that helps at all. I'm praying for God's forgiveness and mercy, I feel like I'm being...

    Tinnitus Suddenly Much Worse

The T is getting worse every day now. It's getting louder and louder and where it once used to be only a low pitched noise it now seems to be at low mid and high frequencies. Why on earth is this getting worse? I can't take this! I don't know what to do, I'm so scared, it's unbearable. I don't...

    Tinnitus Suddenly Much Worse

No, they have no way of knowing what caused it. MRI was clear and bloods looked normal. They can only speculate that it was either a virus or autoimmune dysfunction. I had another audiogram done yesterday and the hearing looks more or less the same since the initial damage, loss of most low...

    Tinnitus Suddenly Much Worse

Hi Steve, I was wondering this myself but as far as I can tell the steroids haven't done much. I was on them for 6 days initially and on the 5th day the T started. Then after another 6 day course I tapered off them, finished a couple of days ago, and boom it suddenly gets loud. So it's gotten...

    Tinnitus Suddenly Much Worse

So a few of you might remember my story from a few weeks ago... SSHL, distorted hearing and bad tinnitus. Well yesterday (about 3 weeks after the T started and I'd say about 6 weeks after the initial hearing loss) my T suddenly got about 10 times louder. It's like a hairdryer on full power...

    SSHL and Tinnitus Intensity

Yeah, as well as getting louder it seems to be a lot more sensitive to sound, almost like what little hearing I've got left in that ear is turning up all the volume knobs to 11 trying to compensate for the loss. Is that what H is feels like? Most sound feels painful really. The T spikes when...

    SSHL and Tinnitus Intensity

I know there are a few people here who, like me, got T after SSHL. I was just wondering if you could share your experiences on how it developed after the initial loss of hearing? For about 2 weeks after my loss I had no T, then suddenly POW, it got real loud in the space of a day. For the next...

Why Are All These Potential Treatments Taking So Long?

Man there's a lot of agro in this thread. Can't be doing anyone's T any good!

    Causes and Prognosis?

No, this is partly what is crippling me with anxiety at the moment, the fact that the doctors don't know and will probably never know the cause, but they speculate it is either viral or autoimmune. I feel like my T is getting worse in both ears so fear it may be autoimmune.

    Causes and Prognosis?

@Markku You seem like one of the most knowledgeable people on here, any thoughts?

    Causes and Prognosis?

Hey everyone, Sorry if I'm posting this in the wrong place or if this has been discussed to death already! I was just wondering about how different causes of T affect the prognosis, ie my tinnitus was caused by SSHL, whereas most T seems to be caused by acoustic trauma... are these two very...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

Lol, Dana White is also probably a billionaire! I don't know what Alan Sheppard had done but I suspect it was a surgical procedure to aid his balance. You can cut nerves, take steroids, diuretics, change your diet, but it's still degenerative. Unless you're Dana White and you can afford stem...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

That is a very good question, one which I would pay great money to answer. Initial thoughts were that it was caused my a virus, however my good ear seems to be deteriorating now too which to me points towards an autoimmune disease such as Menieres or Autoimmune Inner Ear Disease. I'll see what...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

The low frequency ringing started after I lost my low frequency hearing in the damaged ear, albeit a couple of weeks after the initial damage, but seems to make sense. Unfortunately I've now got high frequency T in my left ear as well, which was really loud this morning but has quietened down a...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

@svintegrity Can you tell us exactly what kind of scan you had? I doubt it'll help me but if others can ask for it, it might help them.

Hi. I'm in a Bad Way. I Need Help.

I'm still really struggling to get any semblance of a normal life back. I'm mostly bed ridden because the only thing that distracts me from the noise is my bedside fan. When I go outside the damaged ear is so distorted that everything I hear is just painful and give me headaches. I'm trying to...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

I don't know exactly which nerve was damaged, presumably the main hearing nerve in the ear. It gets pinched under pressure from inflammation and dies if not treated quickly. I took steroids for 6 days after I saw the ENT but they got to me too late. The really bad T actually started when I was...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

@svintegrity That's very interesting, I'm glad they've found the route of your problems. What caused your T in the first place?

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

Hey Chelles, unfortunately it was caused by Sudden Sensorineural Hearing Loss so is associated with nerve damage rather than spinal misalignment. I wish it were that simple! Having said that perhaps chiropody is worth a try. I'm no doctor but the fact that I'm going numb while I sleep seems...

Sleeping Positions... Everything Makes It Worse!

So I've had the T raging for the last few days (see my story in the introduction section, SSHL induced) and I'm finding it increasingly hard to sleep. It seems to be getting louder and I can't find I posture lying down that doesn't make it unbearable. If I lie with my head elevated like I'm...

Hi. I'm in a Bad Way. I Need Help.

Hi Drox, The hearing loss unfortunately coincided with a cold I was suffering with at the time, about 4 weeks ago. The doctor saw some fluid in my ear and assumed it was a bacterial infection, put me on antibiotics. Two weeks later I finally get to see an ENT doc and she tells me it's SSHL and...

Hi. I'm in a Bad Way. I Need Help.

Hi everyone, thank you so much for taking the time to reply and leave your messages of encouragement. It definitely means a lot to hear from people going through the same thing and knowing that you all cope in some way. I actually managed to get a few hours sleep last night which is a start at...

Hi. I'm in a Bad Way. I Need Help.

Hi everyone, I'm Rob. I've recently suffered Sensorineural Hearing Loss in my right ear, which was very upsetting but something I was slowly coming to terms with. Then, suddenly over the course of a day, tinnitus became absolutely unbearable in the damaged ear. It's so so loud, I cannot even...
