Poll: What Is Usually the Main Cause of Your Tinnitus Spikes?

I really like you @Bill Bauer you had quite a positive impact in my recovery and also I appreciate your darkish humor. In terms of spikes I never had them unless you are referring to fleeting tinnitus which i have quite often still, what i have noticed is that whenever I have fleeting T my...

Weird Computer Working Noise, Morse Code Tinnitus Maybe?!?

I dont know if i had a serious otitis but i did have a pretty strong sensation of fullness in the ear a few weeks on and off until the beeping started. I would say it lasted for 3-4 weeks. I did get used to it but it was pretty annoying in the beginning. I just tried to get busy with life which...

Weird Computer Working Noise, Morse Code Tinnitus Maybe?!?

So last Tuesday after doing one of the procedures with a nurse to remove ear wax my left ear had a ringing which subsided in the same day, however on the following day before going to bed I heard this computer sound in my head. Now I hear it pretty much all the time, it sometimes goes away and...

Specialist Lack of Help and Inconsiderate Family

Family can sometimes be unsupportive but I'm sure they care about your well being. They just don't understand what you are going through. Maybe homeschooling doesn't mean you can't go to college, can't you do your SATs and then apply to University? If you can't then you can consider working for...

    Sharing My Experience with Dentist

And the worst part is that sound travels better through denser medium meaning that earplugs wouldn't save us from noise damage as the instruments' vibrations would just be conducted through the skull into the inner ear.

Zinc Pills Stopped My Tinnitus :)

A neat trick I recently learned with another member to test if you are zinc deficient is to buy liquid zinc and taste it, if it tastes like water then you are zinc deficient if it tastes like regular metal than you aren't zinc deficient.

If you want to sleep better at night try some natural relaxants, there's also vallerian root extract which works really well and it's not a placebo. Also sound enrichment is fundamental for your brain to tune out these auditory excitations.

Study Suggests Serotonin May Worsen Tinnitus

Benzo is in fact a benzo but there are so many reports of clonazepam doing a lot more harm than other benzos for some reason. It was a very interesting read, I hope you are doing better now. Also requiem for a dream is a very scary film imo, extremely good though.

Craniosacral Therapy (Julian Cowan Hill, etc.)

I can't say Julian Cowan is a charlaton but I can't say he isn't either. I'm not in the position to really judge his work without actually testing it for myself but from other accounts he is a charlaton. It never hurts to test it out yourself even if there is no outcome from it.

Study Suggests Serotonin May Worsen Tinnitus

Clonazepam sure isn't a viable treatment but I know a few people who don't have tinnitus who are completely dependent on benzodiazepines, in particular they are depedent on diazepam. One of these people is a mother who is 53 years old and has been taking diazepam for a little more than 20 years...

    Cheap Sound Meter?

Unfortunately I don't think you will find a reliable db meter for less than 200 USD. Go with Michael's advice and try not expose yourself to dangerous levels of noise. Being on the street you probably won't encounter any dangerous sound levels and if you do your brain will be sure to alarm you...

    Think I'm Zinc Deficient

I think you are spot on then. I had ETD from a cold and it sounded like the vacuum, if i move my jaw it gets worse, it turns into that single frequency.

    Think I'm Zinc Deficient

Damn valsava maneuver. It might be ETD from your posts. Have you tried beclometasone dipropionate? It would help with any sort of congestion in your E-tubes. Also does your T sound like there's someone vacuuming next door or does it just sound like a regular single frequency tone?

Ear Syringing, Irrigation and Tinnitus — What Damage Is Incurred?

Unfortunately it didn't work so well for me, I used ear drops 3x a day for 7 days my problem with both proceadures is the pressure, and I felt the nurse and doctor were careful it's just the precision and function of the machinery that is not delicate enough for my narrow ear canals. As I...
