Tensor Tympani works to open ET...exactly, you have an hypertonic tensor tympani after acoustic shock, try to avoid new auditive problem or you will have acoustic shock disorder...there's a link with TMJD...some folks believe you can cure it with music in the ear to calm limbic system...it's a...
Serious people know hyperacusis is in the middle ear. To have a kind of hyperacusis in inner ear, Boston guys have to put mice in 120 dB during 2 hours. None of us had this treatment with continuous sound, more often is just a quick trauma.
I used the laser of wilden during 9 months without success. I respected the protocol. No chance for me. Now I try to sell it if someone is interested. The laser is in perfect condition. Pm me if you want.
@lapidus
Well each ear reacts differently. In my case, sensations are different between left and right ear. My accoustic trauma was closer to my right ear than my left ear.
@StubbyJ
@SilverSpiral
I agree. Looks like TTTS like a big part of H noise induced...it's an hyper contraction of tensor tympani.. no really cure or treatment. If you have no photophobia is good. The best advice is avoid loud noise you can't tolerate.
Pain behind eye is trigeminal neuralgia...
@linearb
51% of hyperacusis comes from noise. I can give you the origins of my figures. H can come from acoustic shock or acoustic trauma, it's very different and different part of the ear can be damaged.
Nope Ponsot is a french researcher, he's closer to the truth than other for a good reason. He began to make a very exhaustive review and now he works only on the most logical way for H noise induced with pain, it means TTTS.
I discovered Damien Ponsot thanks to Lymebite, the american guy ;)
I have a forum in french for people with T & H. The 25th of december, one french guy killed himself, he can't bear anymore symptoms like headache, hyperacusis, tinnitus.
He had hyperacusis noise induced.
RIP "Yoyo"
@japongus
audiologists keep in their rates only people who had "success", when you stopped because of ear pain or discomfort they don't include you in their figures :)
@japongus
@lapidus
Japongus is totally right, a lot of scientist & doctors follow(ed) Jastreboff (bullshit) theory just to give some (bad) help to their patients and give them a good conscience (We can do something for Hyperacusis, don't worry). But when their therapy doesn't work 'cause...
Hi Roseanna,
You don't be afraid by noise but avoid loud noises and take a lot of rest. Ear pain is a signal of something wrong, you can find on the site of tinnitus.org the most interesting paper about the syndrom of tensor tympani : http://www.tinnitus.org/Tensor%20tympani%20syndrome_Klochoff.pdf
My surgeon does it. You can see a video of that here :

@stophiss Stop trying to speak french. Maybe you try to be intelligent front of the non french speakers, but all french speakers here who read you know what you are telling means nothing in french and that's just a bad google translation. Maybe I'm not good in english but I can make my own...
I talked a lot with Locoyeti and I know Philemon very well. Trobalt functions for them 'cause they surely had DCN problems. No results for me... Good luck guys.
Sorry @stophiss I read your "theory", very funny I had a good moment of fun. Just don't try to be a scientist and read the best review about hyperacusis : you'll learn more with that and stop telling bullshit :)

AAAh welcome on the hyperacusis-network, nothing interesting in this grim place where people think hyperacusis is a brain problem, where the cure is TRT, etc...
I have made TRT, I think that's just good against phonophobia, I don't have photophobia but I appreciated brown noise. I have made CBT but I know more about my disease than my counselor...
So please when I talk I know what I say, me ;)
Each person can believe human lived with dinosaurs or TRT...
Salvi & co (american researchers) makes a great work, but they work only on hyperacusis from inner ear... Hyperacusis is a symptom which can provide from other place than inner ear...
Well you can't speak with stupid people who believes hyperacusis is a disease from the devil and Jastreboff is the new messiah... Maybe TRT can help in some case for some situations...
"BUT hyperacusis is a symptom from a disease (like tinnitus)...it could be from noise injury, SCDC, fistulas...
Like I said, when you have hyperacusis because fistulas, it's stupid to imagine TRT can help you...when you have hyperacusis from TMJD, it's stupid to imagine TRT can help you...
But you can buy books to fill your library, it's nice in a home... you can try TRT it's free, the worst is people...
There is no "cure" for Hyperacusis. You can pray for natural recovery. There is no evidence behind sound enrichment, that's just the phantasm of one guru followed by sheeps...
Hyperacusis is not a disease. Hyperacusis is a symptom and it can come from different reason (noise injury, fistula...
Personnally I shared datas about my R&OWR success over the internet, I shared my good results with Xanax... I won't share my results about tenotomy 'cause I don't appreciate people are just waiting some courageous guinea pig make the job for them...
Each person have to take their fate in hand...
@Sen
You have physical symptoms looks like TTTS, do you believe when a sport pro player has a muscular problem at a leg he uses sound therapy to heal it ^^
Hyperacusis is just a symptom of a disease, find your disease and cure it (fistula, ttts, scdc, or whatever).
Sound therapy is just a...
Hyperacusis is not a disease, that's the symptoms of a disease. You need to find where is the disease of your hyperacusis.
I have delayed pain too what is horrible 'cause sometimes I'm not enough protected in noisy situations.
The problem is not from your inner ear (hear cells & co). It could...
@Telis Hi, if you have hyperacusis, tinnitus, ear pain, etc...noise induced, good audiograms, that's TTTS not an inner ear problem. Cutting the muscle can be a solution
Good luck Greenqueen, I have the same shit, with complicated legal issues...
What do you think about cutting the tensor tympani ? Westcott talks about that in one of this paper.
