Barotrauma → Patulous Eustachian Tube (Ears Frequently Popping, Autophony)

I recently experienced ear barotrauma and believe I may have inadvertently caused Patulous Eustachian Tube. Two weeks ago, I made the unbeknownst mistake of getting on an airplane while having a sinus infection. My left sinus had been clogged for a few days and shortly after takeoff, I was...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

I'm grateful for the existence of Frequency Therapeutics and all others out there researching into hearing loss, tinnitus, and hyperacusis. It is a shame, however, these conditions appear to be so far behind in research. Perhaps I'm naive though. I myself am going in circles with all of this...

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

Well, this is disconcerting. I'm trying to better understand the relationship between hyperacusis, tinnitus and just plain hearing loss. Do people with hearing loss only, no tinnitus, suffer from hyperacusis?

What makes you think there is a chance nerve synapses would be damaged as well? Are damaged nerve synapses a potential cause of hyperacusis?

Mild Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Have Become Much Worse — Making Life Unbearable

I get confused by the occlusion effect. Wouldn't this have affected a musician while wearing their IEM's? Chris Martin stated his tinnitus hasn't gotten any worse since the beginning since he started using protection. It's very different for us all I imagine?

Do you mean that the nerve synapses themselves have been damaged too, in addition to the loss of hair cells?

Frequency Therapeutics — Hearing Loss Regeneration

This. I think phase 3 is necessary to determine the maximum efficacy. What happens if we give this dude more? What if he comes back a 2nd or 3rd time? Does the patient with more hearing loss need more or is it all the same - once the process starts it's a chain reaction? How long until the...

Mild Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Have Become Much Worse — Making Life Unbearable

@arctic loon Prior to my spike/new tone in my right ear, I felt physical pain. I first noticed it when I laid down at night. Pressing against my pillow was enough to caused my inner ear pain. Perhaps this is all a delayed onset from the number of weddings I've attended this summer with no ear...

Mild Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Have Become Much Worse — Making Life Unbearable

My dear friend @actic loon , I am glad I stumbled upon your post. I share your exact sentiment. I've had T for over a year now and my H has lately, been at it's worst. Recently a new tone has flared up in my right ear; really low around 2000 hz that sounds like morse code. I've struggled to cope...

    Hearing Protection During Sporting Events

I'm looking for protection during a sporting event. I need to be able to hear those around me and hold conversation. Not only do the larger foam ear plugs block out too much noise, but they also bring too much attention to my ears. Something smaller and more concealed is preferred if they...

Nighttime Fan Alternative (Bluetooth Speaker + Mobile App)?

Cheers! I'll look into it. HA! Yes, the thought has crossed my mind. This sounds just like a fan, or any of those apps? These sounds cause my T to spike.

Nighttime Fan Alternative (Bluetooth Speaker + Mobile App)?

My tinnitus spikes in the middle of the night/morning. I think it reacts to the fan I have running. I am able to nap on my couch with the higher pitched refrigerator humming in the background. I've been thinking to use a mobile app + Bluetooth speaker to generate noise. This would also help...

    Deciding Whether to Have Children

Sorry to hijack this thread. Michael, I've been trying to figure out how to contact you outside of this thread, but have had no luck. I'm managing my T, but need help with hyperacusis. Are you able to "start a conversation" with me somehow? Thanks!
