Do You Habituate Every Day Again?

I don't have to relearn every day. And this is probably because my T is usually the quietest upon waking. I'm sure if it were louder upon waking, like it is for some people, then I probably would have to rehabituate every day. Or it simply would've taken me longer.

    Calling Tinnitus T

Exactly my experience. My dad also has had it for over 30 years from the military. Only I did not know he had it until I got mine and started complaining about it. But I figure if I knew so many who had it and they could habituate, then so could I. It brought me comfort to know I was not alone...

    Does It Really Get Better?

For some people, yes. Some people are able to habituate while others can't. I can only speculate that the reasons for this are varied... Some people genuinely have it worse than others. Some people have other factors apart from tinnitus that make hsbituating difficult or even impossible, etc...

    Why Do Doctors Talk C*ap?

True, but this doesn't exactly follow. When I got T and opened up about it, I found out that many people I know have it including my own dad. They either just never complained about it to me, or perhaps I was off in my own little world and wasn't paying attention. But once I developed T, I saw...

Can Tinnitus After Ear Syringing/Irrigation Improve?

If you really do have liquid behind your ear drum, I'd look into getting that treated. I know fluid in my middle ears have been able to make my tinnitus get very loud. But once it went away, my tinnitus went back to baseline. As long as you have a real, physical and treatable problem, I...

Boyfriend's Tinnitus Is Killing Our Relationship

Well what I don't get is why does this bother you so much? So he has to put a pill bottle under a pillow to put the cap on... so what? I can see how that'd be a hassle for him, but I'm puzzled why this bothers you, as it's not like it's an inconvenience for you. But let me say this: if this...

    Ginkgo Biloba

Yep. And the thing is, usually there is a grain of truth to these types of things. But it seems like there is none for ginkgo or NAC or magnesium. I am a believer in supplements, but not for tinnitus.
  20. M

    Ginkgo Biloba

I couldn't agree more. I haven't heard of one person who has been helped by it for any ailment actually. It seems overwhelmingly obvious that it doesn't work. But then again, I continue to see posts of people taking NAC and that doesn't seem to help either.

Did You Find Your Tinnitus Sound on the Internet That Was Almost Identical?

Maybe it is time for you to give keppra and trobalt a shot. I know you're worried about taking them. But, if they bring you relief, then maybe you could just take them once a week or something. Absolutely yes. Especially if I have sinus and ear congestion. My T will magnify greatly. Getting a cold that causes congestion (or allergies) spikes my tinnitus so much that it's almost like starting all over for me. At least that's how it was last time.

I totally hear what you're saying and you're right, ENTs should take more of an interest. It would be like going up...

    A Little Perspective

No matter how sympathetic a doctor is, tinnitus is incurable and the end result between a good doc and a bad one is the same. Since everyone here has T and it has impacted us in a major way, we tend to see the world through the lens of our tinnitus. I'd be willing to bet that the majority of...

    Tinnitus Cured NO BS

I would love to believe this to be true. But it simply isn't. The body is great at healing many things, especially when it's properly cared for. But, we can't forget that this doesn't mean the body can heal from literally everything. Unfortunately, tinnitus is one of those things. And if you...

If Your Tinnitus Vanished, How Would Your Life Change?

I never said he should stop. My point was simply that he's misusing the word cure. And btw, the alternative to trobalt and keppra is not misery. Plenty of people have habituated who've never taken drugs.

If Your Tinnitus Vanished, How Would Your Life Change?

It's not even a cure. Danny Boy is quite frankly, abusing the word. A cure would mean he could stop keppra and his H won't return. But since he has to keep taking keppra to suppress his H, what he is actually describing is a treatment not a cure.

Did You Change Your Hobbies Because of Tinnitus?

Suffering itself is a reaction. Hence the reason no reaction means no suffering. As I've said, poking fun at the concept that no reaction = no suffering is pointless because by definition this is true. However, what can be argued is whether one can truly not react or have the reaction be...

Did You Change Your Hobbies Because of Tinnitus?

I know you're being facetious, but by definition this is true, no reaction = no suffering. No reaction doesn't mean, "I feel pain but I'm going to ignore it and carry on as if I don't react." Because the moment you feel pain, you've reacted. After all, pain IS a reaction. If you want to drive...

Do you think that's why you do that? Like how some people obsessively wash their hands, you obsessively spank it? Because if you're sexually exhausted then wouldn't that make it so you don't have the desire to?
  45. M

Lol somehow I think this falls more under people feeling guilty about spankin' it. Like they feel like it's wrong to do it, so when something bad happens they attribute the bad thing as punishment for it.

    Choosing the Right Magnesium?

Something for all to consider: Dr. Nagler is an MD who treats tinnitus and I'm sure he's seen it all and has heard it all. If magnesium or any supplement worked, he'd most likely know. And since he also has tinnitus, he'd probably be thrilled if it were as easy as popping a mg pill.
  48. M

    Choosing the Right Magnesium?

I fully agree. Believe me, I would LOVE it if magnesium helped. Same thing with vit C. A few years ago I had a bad cold coming on. So I fell for the bs if taking 1000 mg of vit c every hour... Yeah that did jack crap and wasted money.
  49. M

    Choosing the Right Magnesium?

    Screaming Tinnitus

Well I wouldn't say it cured it if you still have to take keppra. It more has it under control. But to say it cured it is about like saying tinnitus is cured while its masked. @awbw8 i agree. The problem is that when we go to a doctor for tinnitus, we're expecting him to rid us of something that no one in the world knows how to do. So the doc is left with virtually no options rather than tell us the harsh truth about living with it. It sucks, but there's really...
