It's Impossible to Avoid All Random Loud Noises

Yeah, I *hate* the random loud noises, but there's really nothing you can do about it -- who knows when they're coming, right? One thing I've noticed is that, not only have I lost high frequencies (over 12 Hz), but I can listen to the same song about 30 times and never really notice the lyrics...

Would You Pay $2800 for a Chance at Clearing Your Tinnitus?

Sorry, that was a different person. I know I can Google it, but what is a TENS unit?

    The Positivity Thread

My positive: You learn to tune it out. That's it. It seriously gets better, without a cure, without noise, without anything. It just goes to the background. The worst thing is to think about it, then it gets awful. It sound a little silly, but stop thinking about it.

Would You Pay $2800 for a Chance at Clearing Your Tinnitus?

I don't know, doesn't seem likely. How would jaw alignment cause Tinnitus? Your sleep will come back once you learn to tune it out..

    Floaters

I've had floaters for about 15+ years. I used to notice them a lot, but I haven't even thought about them for quite a while. They don't go away, but you'll get to the point where you don't even notice them..

Having a Tough Time — How to Move Forward?

I take Effexor for my anxiety and...it doesn't do anything for Tinnitus. You just tune it out -- it's like a Jedi Mind Trick. Reduction by attrition.

    Seems I've Always Had Tinnitus...

Mine is the same in both ears (*surround sound*), but I've had it so long it's second nature at this point.

I Lost My Respect and Faith in Doctors or Modern Medicine

Well, like I said, my wife had ringing in her ears and was complaining about it, so I played her the sound I hear all the time. She couldn't stand it after about two seconds. But, honestly, you do get used to it.

I Lost My Respect and Faith in Doctors or Modern Medicine

I'm new to the forum, but I don't understand why people go to the doctor for Tinnitus. It's pretty clear that there's no current cure, right?

    Seems I've Always Had Tinnitus...

I've never found anything that helps, but maybe others on here have? I realized a while ago that I tend to look at people's mouths when they talk instead of their eyes to help me understand what they're saying. Otherwise, I tend to ask them to repeat themselves a lot.

Having a Tough Time — How to Move Forward?

Trust me, as someone who's had it for a couple of decades, it definitely fades into the background before too long. The worst part is thinking about it, that's when you'll notice it the most.

New Member -- Tinnitus for 20+ Years

I posted in a different thread, but this site is how I figured out my frequency: http://newt.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/hearing.html I don't know how to figure out the volume, though. I always put on the TV no matter what room I'm in, which my wife thinks is a mixture of hilarious and compulsive...

    Ringing from Singapore

I personally found this one to be the most helpful identifying the frequency -- it probably only works if you have the "eeee" though: http://newt.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/hearing.html

    Ringing from Singapore

I hope your T goes away! I can't hear anything above about 12 khz, unfortunately mine is a constant 8. It's been that way for many years. If it doesn't go away, it will eventually just fade into the background, where you won't notice it 99% of the time.

    Tinnitus Since December 2014

Really, you eventually just tune it out. I've had it for over 20 years, it just kind of becomes background noise for the most part.

New Member -- Tinnitus for 20+ Years

Hi, I just wanted to introduce myself. I've had tinnitus before I even knew what it was -- I've had it for at least 20 years, if not more. Mine is the "eeeeeeeee" at about 8hz from what I can tell. It's a constant in both ears. Before I started looking it up recently, I didn't realize...
