2020 US Presidential Election

What do we see happening tomorrow in the first debate?

Biden is going to bring up:

- Trunp's tax
- Covid
- Nomination for the Supreme Court
- BLM and police

Trump is going to bring up:

- Biden's son's shady Russian dealings and Ukraine
- Biden's health
- His nomination for a noble prize for his recent peace deals
- Out of control rioting
- Biden's VP choice (Harris)

What else?
Biden will definitely bring up the lawsuit against Obamacare.

Biden is a horrible debater, although he did surprise me in his one on one debate with Bernie, where he seemed better than the group debates. Trump is ruthless though and could come out punching. I don't expect to walk away thinking Biden clobbered Trump in the debate. People who are voting for Biden know why and vice versa. No one thinks Biden is an elite debater. Trump is a horrible debater as well, but in a fact free world, his supporters think he is amazing. Objectively, Hillary Clinton is an elite debater and easily won all of the debates, but it didn't matter much.

Trump will focus almost all of his attention on the riots. Biden will focus on COVID-19. Biden will say a few words about the supreme court. This is mostly for political reasons and to galvanize the vote more so than actually trying to persuade Republicans to "do what's right."

The Ukraine stuff will just be counter-punching. Most voters don't care that much about this.

Biden's going to bring up Trump's health.

Trump is going to bring up Biden's stutter.

Biden is going to bring up the whole Supreme Court thing.

One or both of them is going to interrupt the other.

Biden actually is capable of good debates. Have you seen his one on one with Paul Ryan? That was pretty good. Only thing is Trump is a beast and Biden has to try and dominate the conversation with a raving lunatic.

Biden: His career in the Senate for 180 years.

You make a good point in that he did destroy Paul Ryan. I don't know though. It could be a little bit like how Beto O'Rourke seemed like a star when in reality, his opponent was just Ted Cruz (who is actually an elite debater, but too creepy for politics).

He does better one on one. He was pretty terrible in the primaries but it was hard to get through the Buttigieg-Klobuchar back and forth bickering to be fair.

Only thing is Paul Ryan is a far more talented politician then Ted Cruz. And that's reflected in the fact that he clawed his way to the speakership while Ted Cruz has spent his days hated by senators in his party.

Gee, take your pick. It's not like there's any shortage of scandals. Of course, his brainwashed base won't be moved no matter how many more emerge.
You're not talking about Biden?

So both candidates and their voter bases are the same then.

See, I was right after all.

From Kamala Harris' speech a few hours ago:

"She was an original. A one of a kind. She combined a steel spine with an ability to extend an open hand. Never a closed fist. She demonstrated you could both hold firm to your principles and still hear those with whom you disagree. That is a lesson that should be ringing in our ears"

I immediately thought about tinnitus! I have a steel spine (can deadlift 500lbs) and extend an open hand in friendship.
I hold firm on my principles and still hear those with whom I disagree. And boy do I hear a ringing in my ears.

From now on I'm losing all my spine strength, will use my fists, will wildly ignore my principles and will close my ears to those whom I disagree. I always knew I was too nice.

Tinnitus cured? Patent in the post tomorrow...

Makes sense.

He hasn't done anything illegal (he is still under audit). The tax code is more favorable towards real estate developers than individual taxpayers. Do you think he should have volunteered to pay more taxes, or donated money to the IRS? The anger is misplaced.
Well he could've fixed it when he revamped the tax code in 2017 but didn't. Why is that?

If he's going to be the person associated with patriotism, then yes. Patriots do things for the good of their country, not just looking out for themselves. I see a lot of people defending Trump in this way. I kind of understand this defense if he's just a self-proclaimed selfish businessman. However, that's not his brand. His brand is American patriot. In fact, his brand is judging other peoples' patriotism (Kaepernick and the troops), Obama as a lazy, non-American terrorist, etc. There's no defense of Trump as a patriot.

No Republican expects Trump to donate money to the IRS.

How little he paid in taxes isn't the biggest problem with this story. It's this:

Trump's Massive Debts Are a National Security Crisis

This is a far better point than I made. If you flipped Obama and Trump and Obama was hiding his taxes, paying no taxes, and apparently was millions in debt, does anyone really believe that conservatives -- who elected the guy who led the birther movement -- would have called him respectable and smart for it? It's a joke. Of course they would have said that he is indebted to ISIS or something.

Why didn't Obama? He had almost a decade. Since the Left is always complaining the rich don't pay taxes...
You'd think though that Trump would since he made reforming the tax code his top priority and knew exactly how real estate developers abused it. If nothing else, leaving tax breaks that you use to avoid taxes in place as President is pretty suspicious.

They don't care that all his stuff is from Asia, so why would they care about this?

Agree

CEO Tim Cook of Apple sat with First Lady Michelle during Obama's last State of the Union address. Apple does not pay their fair share in taxes, and they have hundreds of billions in the bank and most of their manufacturing jobs are overseas. They also charge a mint for products and services. Obama spoke about the needs to serve the middle class in his address. All Presidents have showmanship and they don't care about the middle classes. The Bushes, Clinton and Obama have become super rich in retirement. Much of their riches have come from big business.

One other thing Trump is going to try to do in the debate is to make Biden angry; to trigger him.

Biden has a pretty short temper it seems, and then the name calling starts. Trump will try to get him all ruffled.

It's shocking that Trump never made public his tax statements, like all presidents of the US to date have done. So we can assume he did a lot of illegal things, and he is trying to hide them.

The only way the middle class has to defend itself is not buying Apple products, or using Facebook, for instance. This way those companies who do not pay taxes and do not contribute will feel the pain.
