2024 US Presidential Election

Bernie Sanders has admitted that Kamala Harris is still a Progressive, and is only supporting moderate policies to win the election.
I don't think she was ever truly progressive. Take a look at her record as Attorney General: she kept people in prison beyond their sentences just so California could benefit from cheap or nearly free labor for firefighting. She also left a man on death row to suffer, despite knowing he was innocent. She's a typical politician, swayed by whichever way the wind blows.

Well, politicians gonna politic. Right?

Ultimately, the elections are just one big pageant show with contestants hoping to be crowned the Belle of the Ball. Dressing things up a little (or a lot) is par for the course.

Trump is actually doing pretty well in that regard! Many of his answers to serious questions are of the beauty pageant variety:
  • "World peace"
  • "My greatest strength is x"
  • "Confucius was one of whom invented confusion, and that's why, one of the most ancient, he was one of the Chinese. Japanese who was one of the most ancient."
In this case, the Belle just happens to become "the leader of the free world."

This election could be dubbed, Whore Vs. Whoremonger.

It feels impossible to have a productive conversation about this with Americans.
It's such a sad state of affairs. You would think someone would dare to address gun laws, especially after the attempt on Trump and all the school shootings. The fact that young, mentally challenged or unstable individuals have such easy access to firearms is unfathomable to me.
I hope to visit Norway one day and enjoy some fish with you.
You are more than welcome! I live by the sea, and I'd love to show you a good time. You're my main man on this forum—you know that! ;)
I hope you're doing well—I know you're going through tough times
Thanks, pal. I'm down to 2 mg of Diazepam in my tapering. It's hell, but I'm determined to get off it. Benzos, along with my messed-up ears, have destroyed my life. :banghead:

Love you, man!

P.S. Hold on to your hats—or should I say cats? :cat:

Trump still doesn't have a plan for health care after 9 years of talking about repealing the ACA. Lol. He just wants to take health care away, cut Medicare and Social Security, and increase costs for American consumers by increasing tariffs. Harris looked a lot stronger on health care and international affairs, but Trump kept pressing on how much of a failure the current administration has been on the border and immigration. And Harris didn't answer the question about why they waited 3 years to try to do anything about the border crisis. So that didn't look good.

When Harris called Trump the former vice president, I was expecting him to respond about that.

On balance, I think Harris did a better job.

Even with the biased moderators from ABC, who didn't fact-check Kamala Harris, Trump still managed to make his points about the many failures of the Biden-Harris administration. I watched the debate twice and still feel much more confident voting for Trump-Vance than Harris-Walz.

Trump has a proven track record, while Harris does not. I'm concerned that Harris-Walz will be a continuation of, or even worse than, the past four years under Biden-Harris.

You say "We" like you are still an American citizen. I didn't think you could have dual citizenship if you lived in Laos.
I am an American citizen, just like you. We are allowed to have passports—there's some news for you.

I'm proud of you!

Don't give up. Pump iron if you can.

Great work, brother. Stay at 2 mg as long as necessary.

Stay well, and don't give up.

Biden has supported cutting Social Security and Medicare for years. You can find some of his speeches on the Senate floor, available on YouTube. He is no friend to the working people of America, and I don't expect Harris to be any different. Trump, on the other hand, is not beholden to special interests.

People experience enough inflation every single day that the debate last night will be forgotten before the election. The Biden/Harris cluster**** sent inflation through the roof.

It all started with the stimulus and spending under Trump. Now, he wants to increase costs for American consumers through higher tariffs, which will ultimately be passed on to us through higher prices. That's what Harris was referring to when she mentioned a "Trump national sales tax"—because that's essentially what it amounts to.

Only Trump wants to cut Social Security, Medicare, and health care for 40 million Americans. Only Trump refuses to support our allies.

I'm not sure how anyone can rationalize voting for Trump at this point.

Except for the special interests of Russia, Saudi Arabia, and China, of course.

Based on the amount of money they've funneled into his holdings, at least.
I was referring to the deep state that controls both political parties. The deep state does not like Trump because they cannot control him. They know that Harris, as a puppet, will follow the neocon agenda of endless wars.

As I mentioned in a previous post, you can find YouTube videos of Biden giving speeches on the Senate floor, calling for cuts to Social Security and Medicare.

One of the better parts of the debate was when Trump spoke of how he sent the head of the Taliban in Afghanistan a satellite photo of his house.

"I got involved. And Abdul is the head of the Taliban. He is still the head of the Taliban," Trump said. "And I told Abdul, 'Don't do it anymore. You do it anymore, you're going to have problems.' And he said, 'Why do you send me a picture of my house?' I said, 'You're going to have to figure that out, Abdul.' And for 18 months we had nobody killed."

Official current statement from Biden:

Statement from President Joe Biden on the Social Security and Medicare Trustees Reports

But also a news flash: Biden is no longer the Democratic candidate. It's Harris. She wants to protect those programs, not cut them like Trump and Republicans are wanting to do and have openly stated so.

News flash: Biden and Harris are tied at the hip through the neocon agenda. Why do you think war criminal Dick Cheney endorsed Harris? Biden also knows—or knew when he was more mentally sharp—that Social Security and Medicare are the "third rail" of politics, untouchable by either Republicans or Democrats. Yet, the videos showing him willing to cut them reveal just how two-faced he is.

It's adorable that some people still believe presidents are in full control and make decisions all by themselves. Here's another clue: if they really wanted to fix Social Security, all they would need to do is raise the cap.

How long have Democrats been in control? We could have had Medicare for all, but Obama stopped it. The Democrats are part of the endless war machine, funneling our tax dollars into conflicts while offering nothing for the American people.
Geez, Mitch McConnell should really retire and give up his seat to a younger politician.

Is there any bi-partisan support for age/term limits?
He should take Pelosi and Schumer with him.
