2024 US Presidential Election

Yes, every time I saw the media interviewing a Trump supporter, that's how it appeared to me as well. No one could make a convincing case to support Trump. Comments from people like, "he talks like me." Or they think he's going to lower grocery prices. Lol. Those with low intelligence just couldn't see through Trump's lies and false promises. And now, the rest of us have to live with those people's poor choices. It's disappointing that the average American seems to have an IQ as low as Trump's.

Experts in the economy say that Trump will be bad for the economy and will increase inflation. You shouldn't get your talking points from Republicans.
No one cares about the supposed high IQ of the media, the celebrities, the "experts", etc.

I came across some statistics today. As of 2022, "21% of adults in the US are illiterate or functionally illiterate. And 54% of adults have a literacy below 6th grade level".

It spells disaster if a country is filled with proud foolish mouth-breathers who cannot read, write, or think critically. This is where we are. Our education system is truly in an abysmal state.
Recently, they had been lowering interest rates since inflation was back down near the Fed's target rate, thanks to Biden and the Democrats. Now Trump plans to increase it with his terrible low IQ ideas.
With the feds cutting rates again yesterday, Trump and Republicans will once again benefit from an economy that Democrats enabled. I can already see it. When the Republicans inevitably tank the economy, Democrats will hopefully win back the presidency + Congress and fix their mess.

The problem is that it'll take a lot of time to fix their mess. Democrats will get blamed again for the economy being bad because our uneducated electorate thinks the president can magically fix things on day 1. You know, flip some switches, and everything immediately goes into effect.

It's a vicious cycle, and I have no idea how to break this cycle. Honestly, I'm fed up with all of it. Democracy will not work if more than half the population are arrogant, selfish people who are mostly uninformed + misinformed.
Of course, peace is preferable, but Russia has engaged in "salami-slicing" geopolitical tactics for too long. It's time to put a stop to it.
Trump's going to starve Ukraine of support. That's how Trump will end the war. There will be a fake 'peace' treaty agreement that will not benefit Ukraine. Eastern Ukraine will be handed over to the Russians, and Ukraine won't be allowed to join NATO.

And once Russia replenishes its military, it'll then lie and claim Ukraine broke the treaty and make another land grab. Because it's Russia. This is how they do things.

It's a grim outlook. Ukraine is done, and evil prevails.

Living abroad and being unable to afford to support my family in the U.S. is hard. My age and my tinnitus make it difficult to support them from here, and resettling is impossible.
I don't know why resettling is impossible for you but if the reason is financial, the Trump administration is committed to lowering inflation and improving Americans' economic standing. Tens of millions voted for Trump because they are hurting. If you wish to resettle in the United States, I hope it becomes viable soon. Best of luck.

Even though the United States has produced some of the greatest minds in history, it's fair to say that a portion of the population may be affected by isolated or insular communities, especially in rural areas. I've seen interviews with some MAGA supporters, and they sometimes fit a certain stereotype. The people from Making a Murderer come to mind.

I think we may have a typical MAGA supporter here as well:

Regarding Donald's proposal to deport immigrants...

Why not reintroduce the necessity of self-sufficiency? In previous generations, there were no free benefits or welfare—you either worked or struggled to survive. On my first visit to the United States, I noticed that the latest arrivals were Puerto Ricans, living side-by-side with African Americans.

No offense intended, but back in the late sixties and early seventies, Italians had just recently risen in social status, becoming more mainstream and respectable. They had worked their way up.

The benefit of a self-sufficiency policy is that when you see an immigrant on the street, you don't view them as a drain on taxes. Instead, you see them as a contributing member of society, working one of the "4D" jobs: Dirty, Difficult, Dull, or Dangerous—the jobs most people don't want.

Latin Americans are often Christian, their food is great, and their women are beautiful... aside from the issue of drug cartels. But no one's perfect, I suppose.

Hmmm! 🤔

Americans are considering the possibility of moving abroad after the presidential election, search activity on Google shows.

Google searches about moving to Canada increased by 1,270 percent in the 24 hours after the polls closed, according to search data. Applications for relocation to New Zealand and Australia increased by almost 2,000 and 820 per cent respectively.

Norway is rich and has one of the highest standards of living in the world (higher than the U.S.) because of its oil.

The United States has more underground oil than any other country, including Russia.

It's high time for America to wise up and increase our oil business. Trump wants to drill and compete more than we ever have.

Protecting democracy and freedom is not being a war-hawk where I come from.
"Where you come from" was neutral and surrendered to Nazi Germany in WWII.

Furthermore, before the election was finalized, your Prime Minister congratulated Trump after supporting Kamala in the election.

European countries have already said they are going to buy our oil.

I think we may have a typical MAGA supporter here as well:
Because she flubbed her answer? I don't know that.

What I do know is this: When I was her age, if I had been assaulted with a microphone and a question that I didn't think about before, I would have bungled it worse than she did.

Does that make me a typical MAGA supporter?

I see you know your history 🤣

I think you've mistaken us for Sweden.

We put on a hell of a fight, sinking Blücher on the first day:

Our resistance sabotaged nazi-Germany from developing nuclear weapons.

The Norwegian heavy water sabotage Tungtvassaksjonen) was a series of Allied-led efforts to halt German heavy water (deuterium) production via hydroelectric plants in Nazi Germany-occupied Norway during World War II, involving both Norwegian commandos and Allied bombing raids. During the war, the Allies sought to inhibit the German development of nuclear weapons with the removal of heavy water and the destruction of heavy-water production plants.

What's your point?
European countries have already said they are going to buy our oil.
Again, what's your point?

You are not very smart, are you girl?
Does that make me a typical MAGA supporter?
Yes, it does!

Norwegian mainstream media predicted a landslide victory for Kamala Harris. The news of Trump's win has fueled so much anxiety and fear that helplines for anxiety and uncertainty have been overwhelmed since the election results were announced.

Many Norwegians are outraged at how their media spread misinformation and exaggerated fears about Trump. This short video is worth watching:

You're trying too hard, Lu(natic)man!

Posting a video of some random neo-Nazi who can barely speak English isn't going to cut it.

If you're desperately seeking approval from a Norwegian, I suggest you grab a bag of chips and read Anders Behring Breivik's manifesto.

The American people have spoken and given a swift kick in the ass to low IQ Harris & Walz and got back common sense traditional values to "We the People."

"Flubbed" is putting it kindly. She was driven to depression and suicidal after that response. I think the point is that the majority of Trump voters are low-information, low-intelligence voters. Of course, there are always exceptions, but it allowed Trump to win.

In preparation for Trump's return to the White House, the European Commission (the executive branch of the European Union) chief Ursula von der Leyen has suggested that the EU would be interested in replacing Russian liquid natural gas (LNG) imports with supplies from the United States.

"I had the opportunity yesterday afternoon to congratulate Donald J. Trump on the phone. We discussed, among others, the topic of Ukraine and defense, trade, and energy," she said.

While in Budapest in the European Council meeting on Friday, Nov. 9, Von der Leyen vowed to "build good relations" with the incoming Trump administration "from the very beginning."

In 2018, Trump warned Europe about relying on Russia for oil and gas. European leaders laughed it off until Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, which created energy and financial problems that continue to this day.

"Flubbed" is putting it kindly.

No, it isn't. Her response was exactly what you can expect from nearly anyone in a high-pressure situation when put on the spot by a double bind question asked in bad faith.

And being the guileless teenager that she was, she perfectly filled her assigned role by walking right into that trap.

She was driven to depression and suicidal after

...torrents of abuse, including but not limited to hate mail like "GO DIE CAITE UPTON, GO DIE FOR YOUR STUPIDITY."

I think the point is that the majority of Trump voters are low-information, low-intelligence voters.

Of course they are. But that point could have been made by simply referring to John Stuart Mill, who made a similar point already more than 150 years ago: Conservatives are the party of the stupid.

See also: "reality has a well-known liberal bias."

There's more than one way to make a point, but I think he was trying to provide some entertainment value, albeit at Caite's expense. J.D. Vance had posted that video to Twitter a while back, saying it was the full Kamala Harris interview. Maybe that's why it was referenced here.

Donald Trump has appointed Tom Holman as head of border and deportation policy.

Trump said that Holman, "will be in charge of all deportation of Illegal aliens back to their country of origin".

Norway is rich and has one of the highest standards of living in the world (higher than the U.S.) because of its oil.
If that were the case, Russia would have an even higher living standard.

Norway has one of the highest standards of living in the world because it has a functioning community, and the wealth is shared among the citizens. Their income inequality is the lowest in the whole world. They have free healthcare, free schools, free university education, and heavily subsidized electric cars, which result in the largest electric fleet per capita in the world.
It's high time for America to wise up and increase our oil business. Trump wants to drill and compete more than we ever have.
You don't seriously believe that the US will ever catch up to Norwegian living standards, do you? Americans reject everything that makes life in Norway livable because adopting it would be "Socialism."

That's exactly right. In fact, when we discovered oil in the 1960s, it was quickly legislated to benefit the common good. Unlike in many oil-rich nations where everyone is out for themselves, this approach was grounded in socialism principles.

But don't expect MAGA supporters to see this as a positive thing. They understand only what Trump and his circle want them to believe.

They support the idea that the rich get richer and the poor get poorer, as if it's just natural selection. It's classic fascism.

If you believe abortions cause hurricanes, you're ready to believe anything!

Norway's population is 1.6% of the United States, so it's very hard to compare them.

Norway was lucky when oil was discovered in the late 1960s.

I believe Trump said a few years ago that he would like to have immigration from Norway. Thanks to Trump's policy to encourage more U.S. drilling and oil exports, Norwegian oil industry professionals would be especially welcome.

I had the pleasure of living in a NYC neighborhood where many older Norwegian immigrants who became U.S. citizens resided. Not surprisingly, it was close to water.

This whole "Trump has a low IQ," or "Only idiots voted for Trump," or "Americans are going to suffer now" all sounds like schoolchildren crying because they're not allowed to tell all the other kids what to wear, where to sit, how to speak and what to eat.

I don't think anyone said that "all" Trump voters were idiots, but it's true that the low IQ, low information voter was more likely to vote for Trump. Polls showed college graduates voted more for Harris. States with fewer college graduates went for Trump. Trump voters think Trump will lower their grocery prices when he's actually going to cause an increase in inflation with his policies, take away their healthcare coverage, and cut Social Security and Medicare.

You are correct.

Democrats are now saying that their entire presidential campaign was handled wrong. There was no primary, Harris made many mistakes, and Trump did a far better job of connecting with voters. If the Democratic Party wishes to survive, it must address working and middle-class Americans, most of whom are moderates.

I like the new phrase, Woke Is Broke.

Norway's population is 1.6% of the United States, so it's very hard to compare them.
Why do you think that the smaller population makes it hard to compare Norway to the US with respect to the policies I mentioned?
I believe Trump said a few years ago that he would like to have immigration from Norway. [...] Norwegian oil industry professionals would be especially welcome.
Nah. I believe it's more likely that he simply forgot the word "Caucasians" but remembered that he shouldn't say "Aryans." I doubt that he'd have any such inhibitions today.
