2024 US Presidential Election

This probably won't be a universally popular post. Years ago, I was very political. At the time, I was also deeply depressed, though I only realized later that this led to strong political ideation—a need to belong and a hook to hang my unhappiness on.

Now, when I see threads like this, I'm grateful that I no longer care who gets elected. Why? Because no matter who wins, I am in control of my life, not them.

Trump 2.0 is about Promises Made Promises Kept for AMERICAN citizens. Trump-Vance voters demanded a secure border and taking it to the Mexican cartels. Mexico, Canada, and China have to do their part or face the consequences.
Trump said he was going to lower prices, and low information voters believed him.
The tariffs are being paid by Mexico, Canada, and China. It's up to those countries to raise their prices for their products coming to the U.S. to offset the tariffs. Trump is just sending a message that they need to help with the border crisis or else. People who voted for Trump-Vance demanded changes to the border, including no more illegal immigrants and no more Fentanyl and other drugs crossing the border.

Republicans' lack of foresight and planning, especially with Trump wanting to shrink the government without first improving it, creates more problems rather than solving any.

You cannot transition away from certain economic dependencies without preparation unless you are willing to deal with the consequences of nonexistent planning. The same applies to healthcare. They want to finish breaking it before there is even a plan to fix it.

Come to think of it, Republicans only seem capable of breaking things.

Those tariffs will be passed on to American consumers. It just amounts to a big tax increase on American citizens. Retaliatory tariffs have been announced as well. Oh, and Trump is now saying Americans will feel pain from the tariffs. So much for his promise to bring down prices. Welcome to Trumpflation.

The left isn't afraid Trump will fail and destroy America.

They're afraid he will succeed and destroy their woke ideology forever.
I don't understand why Republicans start foaming at the mouth whenever DEI is mentioned, but at the same time also try to appear pro-veteran.

Are you a disabled veteran who might need a wheelchair ramp or a customized desk at the office? Sucks to be you then, because that's some woke DEI bullshit.

We are winning. Mexico has caved and the tariffs are paused for a month, Trudeau is meeting with Trump later today, and Panama is ending Chinese control of the canal, the latter of which was outside of our agreement with Panama.

This has been the Republican strategy since I've been alive. They break government, then blame Democrats (when in power) for not magically and instantly fixing it. And low-information voters will eat it up.

"I've been around for a long time. And it just seems that the economy does better under the Democrats than the Republicans."

—Donald Trump, 2004

The White House has announced that the tariffs on Canada will be paused for thirty days after the country pledged to boost border enforcement. Mexico has done the same. These notices were posted on Twitter (X) by Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum.

So Trump ruined America's international image as a trustworthy (trade) ally in order to get Canada to reaffirm the exact same $1.3 million border plan they already announced on December 17, 2024 under the Biden Presidency?

Truly the art of the deal.

Canadians and Mexicans are rallying around the idea of not buying American goods, which is hurting our own exports. In return, Trump managed to get them to agree to things they were already doing anyway.

Masterful gambit, sir.

Canada did not mention the 10,000 troops in 2024, which they now have said they'll use. Starting today, stopping the drug cartels and human trafficking will be a priority. We need troops to stop the criminals. 1.3 billion dollars for programs is not going to stop them; people are necessary, and Trump wants the border closed NOW.

Canada cannot survive without the United States. Trump is right to suggest that they should be our 51st state.

He's getting things done, and the Democrats are having heart attacks, lol.
