By punishing businesses and people who don't do as they dictate and rewarding businesses and people who do.
We are now clearly governed by a fascist government, and it will get worse by the week. It's amazing how fast things have gone south in this country, and the sheep are just watching it happening without any comprehension in their eyes.

By agreement with Denmark, the U.S. already has military access to the island, so the claim that it's about security is clearly false. This is about greed and access to resources.

We just ended a 4-year nightmare. I still suspect that Biden and Mayorkas may have been receiving kickbacks from the Mexican cartels for keeping the southern border open. What a disaster they caused.
I'm baffled that Trump's executive order pausing federal loans and grants, as well as banning federal agencies like the CDC, FDA, and NIH from external communication, hasn't been discussed here yet. Beyond the many other issues this causes, I wonder why none of his supporters in this community have commented on the impact this will have on tinnitus and hyperacusis research, clinical trials, and FDA treatment approvals (I am looking at you, Auricle).
There have already been public announcements and firsthand accounts of people being denied enrollment in clinical trials due to lack of funding, along with the communication ban preventing researchers from speaking with patients during their trials. I work in regulatory and quality assurance for medical devices, and colleagues in my circles have been discussing their fears and challenges surrounding Trump's orders and his handling of the FDA. I had to do a double take a few weeks ago when I received a professional email from a colleague that said, "All this news scares me…"
If clinical trials are halted, even temporarily, this will have a serious impact on tinnitus and hyperacusis research and treatments that could help us. Research, trials, and treatment approvals already move at a slow pace. Many of us have waited a long time, so any delay is unacceptable. I believe most tinnitus research funding comes from the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs to support veterans. If they are unable to continue their trials or receive further funding, where does that leave us?
Even if a temporary stay is placed on these executive orders, the damage has already been done. Things are already disrupted. People have already been denied access. It will take time to get things back in order, if recovery is even possible.
We, as a community, are already suffering immensely. I do not understand how anyone in this community could support a president whose actions will only prolong that suffering.

If the Democrats had nominated a viable candidate, they would have won. Instead of doing the right thing, they decided to hand the candidacy over to an unqualified, unpopular person who did not address the needs of the vast majority of voters. I am happy, for the most part, with what Trump has done so far, since taking office on Jan. 20th.

It's Trump's 25% tax increase on Americans in the form of high tariffs that will be passed on to consumers. I mentioned this earlier in the thread before he was elected. Trump said he was going to lower prices, and low information voters believed him.
