2024 US Presidential Election

Whelp... I was way off the mark with my prediction, like really badly. I am not sure how that Seltzer poll had Harris up 3 points in Iowa, but Trump ended up winning IA by 17 points. Like WTF? Huge blow to their credibility.

Anyways, I can't wrap my head around this at all. None of it mattered. People out here are voting for a convicted felon. What a monumental disappointment.

A loss for civility and decency. You will not hear anything about the election being rigged or stolen now. That's all we need to know really!

I guess the first order of agenda will be to pardon Derek Chauvin on Valentine's Day?

I'm afraid these might be the least of the problems for the US. For starters, the Wall Street Journal posted a good explainer about what Trump's tariffs will do. Note that the Wall Street Journal is anything but a Democrat-friendly publication.

Thank God the American people voted out the left-wing progressive woke ideologies, including open borders. I think Trump will have a great cabinet with common-sense policies. I can't believe all the ridiculous lawfare the Democrats made Trump go through.

Get ready for round two of repealing the Affordable Care Act. They tried last time but couldn't come to an in-party agreement. I'm sure they have a plan now.

Good luck with your health insurance while having severe tinnitus and hyperacusis. You'll be denied insurance left and right. Enjoy.

Deregulate big business and the oil industry: MOSTLY TRUE

I hope you don't have young children. The world won't make it past 2050.

Shut down the Department of Education: TRUE

Get ready for white supremacist history to be rewritten in school history books. Your kids will learn things like "not all slaves were unhappy." Are you fucking kidding me?

The uneducated and clueless failed the IQ test by voting for this loser, and the rest of us have to suffer because of that. Most of the voters must have an IQ as low as Trump's to be suckered into voting for that loser and voting against their own best interests.

This is terrible news for the country and our allies.

People will regret their votes when they lose their health care, and our currently low inflation spikes back up on everything with Trump's tax increases on Americans (via tariffs), not to mention all of the other terrible things with this convicted felon in office.

I feel pretty good considering I live in a country where I can get the health care and education I need without going into crippling amounts of debt or worry about getting shot. Maybe you would too, if you didn't keep voting against your best interests.
I'm desperately trying to find a way out of here. I can't lose health insurance. I went many years without any insurance back before the Affordable Care Act because I was always denied due to pre-existing conditions. I can't go back to that with even more health problems now.

If Dems win the House majority, I might be safe from this scenario, but I'm not confident.

We're also probably going to lose the FTC Director who was making great strides to help regulate food prices and broke up some mergers that would have turned into giant monopolies. So that along with a lot of deregulation that will happen, we'll see prices soar and food-born illnesses rise.

That could be true. It is a historical fact that the suicide rate of slaves was so low as to be virtually non-existent.

We voted in our best interests. Due to the inflation caused by the Biden and Harris administrations, a significant number of Americans are going hungry because they cannot afford food. Many voters feel they were better off during Trump's term than the past four years with Biden and Harris.

There is nothing wrong with manual labor, so if Kamala Harris wants to continue working in the White House, perhaps she can acquire a secure civil service job mopping floors and cleaning offices. Ahh, she'd probably screw that up as well, just like everything else.

Trump wasn't my choice, but the eternal optimist in me – always looking on the bright side – finds relief in the decisiveness of the vote. America made its choice. No hanging chads, no bulging tabs, or whatever you call them; no disputes over voter authentication or stuffed ballot boxes. Sure, there might be arguments about fake news, foreign trolls, and sock puppets, but the vote was clear and unambiguous. The people have decided.

I have great respect for Kamala, who gave it her best, and every respect for Donald, with the hope that he can bring America back to peace with itself.

Here's what we have to look forward to:
  • Mass deportations
  • Economy ruining tariffs
  • Dismantling of the administrative state
  • Dismantling of the regulatory state
    • Food, water, and air will be more poisoned and polluted than ever before
  • Dismantling of the Affordable Care Act
  • Dismantling of Medicaid expansion
  • Enjoy your tax cuts because it will most likely cause cuts to Social Security and Medicare
Shame on you.

Last time they attempted a partial repeal (the "skinny repeal"), they were only one vote away from success. They did manage to remove the mandate penalty, which led to a lawsuit arguing that, since there was no mandate penalty, the entire law should be deemed unconstitutional. The Supreme Court ultimately had to step in to save it.

This time, however, the situation is different. The Republicans are likely to hold a strong enough majority in both houses to pass a full repeal bill. Additionally, Speaker Johnson has stated that this will be on their 100-day agenda.

It looks like they are highly unlikely to end up with a House majority. Hopefully, any Republican majorities will be minimal, but it's not looking good.

Inflation started with the mishandling of the pandemic and all of the government spending under Trump. Now that Biden and the Democrats have gotten inflation back down to the Fed's target rate of about 2%, Trump wants to jack up tariffs and other things that will send inflation soaring. This election was definitely a case of people voting against their best interests because so many uneducated and foolish people believed Trump's lies and empty promises.

Right away, I was hearing "not my president."
Here's what we have to look forward to:
  • Dismantling of the Affordable Care Act
  • Dismantling of Medicaid expansion
Shame on you.
The Medicaid Expansion is actually part of the Affordable Care Act. But it's definitely a major concern that it will be gone, soon, possibly replaced by a shell of a program. And somehow, the Republicans will blame Democrats for it.

Well, it's been 24 hours since he was elected.

The war in Ukraine is still ongoing.

First promise (of many to come) unfulfilled. CHECK!

And yes, he said it would be from the time he was elected, not just when he took office!

So that's why Trump loves the 'poorly educated' so much. 🤔

Yeah, you already know it. When Trump's plan fails, he and the Republicans will blame Democrats despite having the majority in all branches of government. It will be Pelosi, Jeffries, and Schumer's fault. His followers will believe it, and the news media will try to do the whole side of things, like the cowards that they are.

Democrats seriously need to wisen up this time around. Don't be afraid to push back and get on Fox News or whatever platform it takes to reach people. Lots of things need to change with how they present themselves.
Who is this supposed to be addressing?
Ultra-low info voters who live entirely by feels/vibes and nothing else.

I'm from the Netherlands, but I'm very happy to see that Trump won, along with the dream team of Elon Musk and RFK Jr. This is a big win for the whole world. I believe the war in Ukraine will soon end, along with the endless funding from taxpayer money.

The war on censorship will also come to an end, and we can expect improvements in Western economies. RFK Jr. will focus on food, health, and exposing corruption in big pharma.

Some or all of Trump's legal cases may be impacted by his victory in the 2024 election.

Special Counsel Jack Smith, who indicted Trump on federal charges in Florida and Washington, D.C., now faces challenges following Trump's unexpected win in his third presidential campaign. These federal charges are likely to stall.

Some speculate that Trump might seek retribution, but others believe Smith's resignation and eventual testimony at Congressional hearings on the Trump indictments may be sufficient.

On the state level, Trump is scheduled to appear in court in New York City on November 26 for sentencing in a case related to payments to a porn actress. While this case could be dropped, he would be unable to pardon himself in a state case.

New York State Attorney General Letitia James may also face scrutiny over her real estate cases against Trump, which many see as central to her career. These cases are viewed as attempts to seize his property and finances.

In Georgia, where Trump secured a win in the 2024 election, cases against him for alleged election interference in 2020 are unlikely to proceed until 2025. This delay is pending a review of whether Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis may be disqualified due to a romantic relationship with a fellow prosecutor.

Although civil cases against Trump may still proceed, they are unlikely to result in significant consequences for him.

No one cares that Trump is a convicted felon; most Americans know the charges (including calls for putting him in prison) were politically motivated. Calling him and his supporters racist doesn't work anymore, either, as more and more minorities are voting for him. Hispanics, African Americans, Native Americans, and Muslims supported him in more significant numbers this year. Whatever the left says, their scare tactics no longer work. The other factor is that no one was impressed with Kamala. Her four years would be a continuation of the current four years. People don't have to buy goods with tariffs; they can just buy U.S.-made goods, and the prices will lower once there is enough competition within the U.S. industry.

Yes, every time I saw the media interviewing a Trump supporter, that's how it appeared to me as well. No one could make a convincing case to support Trump. Comments from people like, "he talks like me." Or they think he's going to lower grocery prices. Lol. Those with low intelligence just couldn't see through Trump's lies and false promises. And now, the rest of us have to live with those people's poor choices. It's disappointing that the average American seems to have an IQ as low as Trump's.

Experts in the economy say that Trump will be bad for the economy and will increase inflation. You shouldn't get your talking points from Republicans.

Did you vote for PVV or FvD, perhaps?

Regardless, I fully support peace in Ukraine—but Ukraine should have all its territorial borders restored, including Crimea.

The Netherlands should continue supporting Ukraine in every possible way, whether financially or through military aid. Additionally, Russia must be held accountable for the MH17 tragedy.

Even if a peace deal is reached, Russia won't suddenly stop being a disruptive force. In this regard, I'm glad about Rutte's appointment as NATO Secretary General. He has been undeniably pro-Ukraine and recognizes that NATO members need to increase their national defense budgets, which I also agree with.

If the U.S. were to pull out of NATO, it would be unfortunate, but it could lead to a unified European army that doesn't rely solely on American support.

While it might not fully rival the U.S. Army and its "two-front war" logistics doctrine, Europe certainly has the technological capacity to counter any Russian threats.

Of course, peace is preferable, but Russia has engaged in "salami-slicing" geopolitical tactics for too long. It's time to put a stop to it.

Why did the stock market have a sharp rally after Trump was elected President then? More nonsense from you once again.
Markets don't like uncertainty, so a quick and decisive election was favorable to the markets. There are plenty of resources online that talk about Trump increasing inflation and that the Fed might have to raise interest rates again. Recently, they had been lowering interest rates since inflation was back down near the Fed's target rate, thanks to Biden and the Democrats. Now Trump plans to increase it with his terrible low IQ ideas.

Congratulations, Trump supporters—what a true red wave.

I wish the best for my country and the wider world. I hope the dollar stays strong, Americans come closer together, and that manufacturing returns to the U.S., especially for computer chips and other essential industrial goods.

As for the possibility of world conflicts, I hope tensions ease, though it seems there may be more bloodshed ahead. This weighs on me, as do many other challenges. Living abroad and being unable to afford to support my family in the U.S. is hard. My age and my tinnitus make it difficult to support them from here, and resettling is impossible.

@just1morething, I owe you dinner. Your choice. And a hot fudge sundae, too! I hope you're well. I've been dealing with some depression before the election, mainly from feeling isolated, but I stay strong for my wife and kids.

@Luman, congratulations! Let's hope this brings good things.

@ZFire, @kingsfan, @grate_biff, and all my tinnitus friends here whom I've mentioned, I send you my love and compassion. I know how tough this struggle can be, with tinnitus and financial pressures.

Much love to you all. Over and out.

Sincerely,
Daniel
