Cause of Tinnitus
Stress and anxiety
Hi everyone!
My name is Emily and I've suffered from tinnitus for 7 years now, since I was 23 years old (I can't believe I never knew there was a support site for this!). I believe mine developed from stress and anxiety due to a toxic relationship, and first noticed it when things got bad and I moved back home. Is that even a possible cause?? I can't think of anything else that happened at that time (loud noises, illnesses) that would have brought it on. I still remember the first day I noticed it and wondered what the heck was going on with my ears, and it's never gone away since. I am now happily married with 2 kids and have been coping fairly well for several years until the last couple of weeks I've noticed it seems to have gotten even worse which is kind of scaring me! I'm hoping it's due to a cold/flu that's currently floating around our house...but either way it's nice to find a group of support. That's my story, thanks for reading!

Hello and welcome Embye

The reason it got worse can be because of the cold :), but remember dont stay around loud places to much. It can also get worse if you think about it to much, mine can almost complely disapear if i dont think about it, but if i start to think about it for just 1 min it will get louder every second. The best thing you can do is just relaxing and dont think about it to much that will help alot :)

sorry bad english.

Hello Emily ,
Welcome to tinnitustalk which is a great support forum.
I want to ask you how you dealt with tinnitus these seven years ? What was your daily routine?
Thank you for your response.
