To all those who have tinnitus/hyperacusis and live in noisy places, have you thought about using active hearing protection? You don't have to block out all sound and miss out on what's going on around you.
I have Peltor active earmuffs and earplugs, and use them when I am in the city where there are noisy trucks, buses, cars, etc.

Using the active ear protection I can:
The disadvantages are that they're much more expensive than passive earmuffs, but for me it's easily worth it to be able to follow conversations and remain accustomed to normal, safe sounds.

- Hear everything normally
- But at the same time know that my ears are automatically protected
- Avoid overprotecting
