He's not Charles Liberman or Susan Shore or anyone from MEEI.I know you guys are saying this doctor is stupid and I understand your reactions but he is literally the world's leading expert so I wouldn't be so quick as to dismiss his knowledge.
I can understand why you feel that way, and I'm sorry about it.After reading all these comments I think I'm much better off without this site and the people on it. I'll be making this journey myself. Good luck everyone.

Please allow us to repent of our nastiness towards you and hang around. After reading all these comments I think I'm much better off without this site and the people on it. Many of us trusted ENTs and also got torn to shreds, well, our ears did anyway.Uggg I feel for this original poster. The poster may have trusted a doctor and it got torn to shreds in a quick and tasteless way.

Unless he can prove his 20dB hypothesis or emotions making tinnitus louder, this thread needs to be changed immediately, it seems like an ignorant practitioner.
***Important news announcement!!!*** Tinnitus has been found to be a magical frequency only special people can hear.
The only specialists in Tinnitus are the sufferers!

Ahahaha that is complete fucking bullshit! Those of us with tinnitus like a Pixies song, LOUD day then quiet day know that there is a massively difference the emotional reaction the two cause. I think stress does affect my tinnitus, but it clearly varies massively day by day for no apparent reason. So, I've just come from Harley Street in London, having just had an appointment with the UK's and probably the world's leading ENT Doctor.
And he told me that tinnitus volume as long as there is no current infection is always at 20 dB and the perceived loudness is always related to emotional perception and stress towards it.
And given the right frame of mind everyone can habituate/return to silence/near silence.
