I was wondering if there are any professional or hobby photographers here.

I guess you could say I am somewhere in between those two and I really enjoy seeing other people's work, especially on subjects they are passionate about, and talking about it.

Gear talk is great too but I'd love to seem some photography here. :)

Hey @another sean , i'm not a photographer but interested in the subject, since i'm a lot out in the nature and often snapping pics. The other day i was actually thinking about getting something better to make pictures than my iphone:whistle:. What do you think of a GoPro? I need something light and small. Do they have a good picture quality?

I love taking pictures, I don't have a professional camera but I do use my cell phone lol. I took this one in the area that I live in.

Hi @Deamon22 , those are great spots you posted. You nailed the exposure of the Italian Alps with the clouds and mountains. Nice and punchy with natural colors. And that lake is really something. I've always admired the Alps in France and Switzerland, now I can officially say Italy as well. Thank you for sharing those. I can see why you might want to upgrade your camera. A GoPro is primarily for video and a lot of its features are for video. Also they cant zoom in and out and I don't believe there is any support for a flash. I would stick with a photography camera if photography is your primary goal. If you don't want to get too complex with things like changing lenses and what not, then brands like Panasonic and Fuji make excellent all in ones. Some of their models also take excellent video if thats is a feature you are interested in since you mentioned a GoPro. Cameras brands that I have personal experience with are Hasselblad, FujiFilm, Canon and Panasonic. FujiFilm and Panasonic make great all in ones. A lot of people love the Fujifilm X100 series. You can find older models on ebay for a few hundred dollars. They have new versions which around 1000. it's a fixed lens so you dont need deal with changing leases. But it doesnt zoom in and out. Its at 35mm which is similar to a phone. But its fast at f2 to great for low light. Popular for street photograph and a walk around camera with great image quality. Has a vintage feel. Rangefinder style. Or you could go with a "super zoom" style camera from Panasonics Lumix series but the lens wont be as fast. There are so many features to consider, if you have any models you want me to compare or features you're not sure about, feel free to ask.

That looks like a great area to live in, @CrystalB . Lucky! I like that stone wall you're standing in front of. It gives the photo context with the mountain view. Great shot. And props to catching that double rainbow. I like those blanket of trees below as well. Good stuff

Hi @another sean, thanks for your kind comments:) Thansk for your ideas for a camrea. I had a look at the Panasonic and Fujifilm, they look great, but i think for my usage they are a bit to bulky. Since i am mostly outside and often also in the snow, maybe a 1000€ camera is a bit to risky for damaging it, since i don`t have any experience. But i understand that the gopro is better just for videos, i just liked that it was so small:D.

What do you think of the Sony Cyber Shot? Or any other camera in the range of 200-300$ that is good for a quick shot on the go?:)

When you get into Ultra Compact cameras, I have found its better to use a current mobile phone like and iPhone or Google Pixel. I had done a comparison a few months ago comparing the camera of a Google Pixel 2 versus one of my DSLR cameras, 5D Mark II and the Google Pixel 2 was actually better. So I suggest staying with your current phone or upgrading it to a current Pixel or iPhone. You can see my side by side comparison. The pixel 2 is on the left, the Canon 5D Mark II is on the right.

Sounds good. Try to take at least one photo of something you love. Something that brings you joy every time you see it. Could be a person, place or thing.

That waterfall is huge. I can image that must have been loud. It must have been beautiful there.

Thanks for sharing @katri . Those sunsets and mountains are really something.

@katri Wonderful pictures. I want to see Las Vegas at least at one point in my life (alongside all the other great american cities) :)

My sister's hobby is to take pictures of wildlife (I'll see if I can get some of her photos to post on here), by profession she's an animal behaviour and welfare university lecturer, but every spare moment she's in the country taking photos of animals and wildlife.

@another sean which Disneyland is that?

Nice to see more people with a like for photography. I do it a lot since I got T. Unfortunately my server crashed last week so can't really post anything.:(

Working with a D3200 and a 70-300mm VR.
Not very special but I like it a lot.

A great day to be inside. Our country home in southern Minnesota. Blue Earth river is below ravine. Winter is early so far this year.

After being a semi-professional photographer as a journalist for the last decade where I was using the Canon EOS 6D, I've recently ventured back to 35mm photography. So I purchased the Canon EOS 1V, a friggin tank of a camera body. I'd share some pics, but I haven't scanned any yet. D'oh!

Nice choice. Canons make excellent 35mm bodies. My 5DII body still looks amazing after 11 years of use and 170,ooo actuations.

Hi @another sean :) I am not a real expert in photography but since I got a Nikon D3200 a couple of years back as a present I am learning a bit on my own on my free time. Living in Norway definitely helps with the landscapes hehehe. I am really attracted by sunset and night photography :)

I'm just a hobby photographer and my Canon EOS 550D has been a reliable companion for nine years now. I prefer a minimalistic style.
