Are There Any Inspirational Bible Verses That Have Helped You with Tinnitus or Depression?

nowhere in siddarthas teaching does he mention the existence of God nor does he advise you to pray to a God.

Thank goodness - how does anybody pray to, much less, worship, the totally unknowable.
I've searched all my life and found nothing.
What I lack is not so much god, but fear, and imagination.

I am probably the most guilty one here.
I admit it.
Whenever God, religion, or the bible are mentioned it reminds me of how long I searched, as a little kid, as an adolescent, as an adult, in a great pain of schizoid isolation.
I personally found nothing.
No presence, no help, just more loneliness.
I am not looking for a shoulder to cry on by the way.
I just do not believe the story.
I just felt a need to explain myself.
I will do my best to abstain from religious posts in future.
I do respect you, by the way,
love

Totally agree.
Everytime it's like this. Some people have to turn it into a debate thread.

II Corinthians 12:9-11 (NIV)
"But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness." Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ's sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong."

You are a nice person with a descent soul.
You love music. You love cats. You have a sense of humor.
This thread is opened to everyone who feel lonely and needs spiritual support.
Once again, you are very welcome here ... my dear T friend. :)

The Phillistines had beaten the Israelites and taken the Ark of the Covenant. God then cursed them with a plague of emerods and mice.

Then said they, What shall be the trespass offering which we shall return to him? They answered, Five golden emerods, and five golden mice, according to the number of the Lords of the Philistines: for one plague was on you all, and on your Lords. Wherefore ye shall make images of your emerods, and images of your mice that mar the land; and ye shall give glory unto the God of Israel: peradventure he will lighten his hand from off you, and from off your gods, and from off your land.
1 Samuel ch 6.

Emerods are hemmorhoids. Where are the 5 golden hemmorhoids today?

John 3:16 King James Version (KJV)

16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

This bible verse shows that God love all of us ( sinners ) and is willing to let His son Jesus Christ hung on the cross, shedding blood to cleanse our sins. So, we can be accepted by the holy God.
This is called -- "GRACE" which means that we sinners don't deserve it but God gives us regardless.

I truly appreciate your response rH.
No longer lonely since my psychology studies, and my psychotherapy gave me an understanding of my infancy.
I am also a member of a beautiful family, with an adorable angel of a wife.
(Hey - so there is one angel I do believe in!)
I also value the warmth of some great friends I have made on this site.
It is so important to have friends that truly understand just what we have to cope with, without explanation.
Now here is a photo of Annie, my alarm clock, that wakes me up at 6:30am every morning for her cuddle and piece of biscuit.

John 14:6 New International Version (NIV)

6 Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

Jesus is the the way, the truth and the life for all Christians.
We really don't need to mind having discussion of religions in this thread.
Only through true debate, the TRUTH will be revealed.

@fishbone
here is the verse from Jesus ---

John 6:35 King James Version (KJV)
"35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst."

The bread of life means Jesus will provide us 1) materials, 2) spiritual needs, 3) His teachings
to sustain us walking through this winding path (our sufferings) of lives
until we meet Him face to face in heaven.

PS: King James version of bible using ancient English. I will try using NIV version in the future.

Brother, get out of the NIV. They changed prophecies from Daniel 2 and 9. They changed the wall in ch 9 into moat. That screws the entire prophecy because Jerusalem never had a moat.

@JohnAdams Thank you brother for reminding.
I personally like King James and NASB versions of Bible.
Well the King James Version was largely the work of William Tyndale and he was martyred for it. The eastern orthodox position is that the KJV is the best English translation. It changed the world.

Have representatives from all religions, put them in a huge octagon, and have them fight to the death. Religion is no stranger to violence, so it should be a spirited ( pun intended ) free-for-all. The winner will determine our global religion.

Yes he lived during a time of polytheism and he could very well be agnostic or even atheist but we don't really know and theory crafting really wouldn't lead anywhere anyway. He wasn't the first person in search of enlightenment and there were already famous and established Brahman's who preached about God on the daily. He couldn't possibly say that there was no god in a land of pagans because the very virtue of Buddhism is humility.

At it's core Buddhism is about the search for self enlightenment and the overcoming of suffering. Whether Gods are involved are irrelevant as it doesn't really matter anyway. I'm Asian too and technically we have Gods, but mostly it is a reflection of our culture and life style... not necessarily a radical belief that alters the teaching of Buddha in any way.
He could have been but it's very unlikely. Remember back in ancient India there were atheistic schools that were contemporary with him. If he was an atheist/agnostic, then why not join one of these? Theory crafting won't help, but if we make assumptions about him, it's safer to assume he was a polytheist.

Winner would probably be the one Jainist guy who didn't start shit.

I always seem to have a hard time understanding KJV. The NIV is much much friendlier and I can understand it much better. Great Verse btw, so true and so meaningful. When my demons try to get the best of me, I read his words and praise him for all the GOODS in my life and all the struggles. It is our struggles, that are our greatest teachers. Our struggles are NOTHING, compared to what Jesus went through.

I honestly think that having faith and believing can carry us so so far in our lives. My tinnitus is beyond intrusive with 3-5 tones now and my primary secondary tones are become intrusive like my main one. If it were not for GOD , my martial arts, and my rational mind....I do not know what I would have done.

Bless all that suffer!

Hum...

I am not religious in any sense. As a young kid I remember living in a Jewish community and my best friend was Jewish. The horrible Christian religion my family pushed scared me to death. I wasn't allowed to have my friend. I never understood. I never bought that one had to believe and worship a "Jesus" entity or be banished to an after life of burning in a pit of fire.

It just never made sense to a five year old. Still makes me quiver inside to talk about it.

Years later I briefly dated a great Jewish guy and he took me to a family gathering. I wasn't very welcomed by the old school family members.

I like to think each of us has our own set of beliefs which help us during bad times and gives us strength.

Kindness is all that matters.

I have many friends who are Christians and they are amazing and resilient people, and their faith makes them more so. Buddhism has played a huge role in my life and has helped me immensely to overcome. I also pray weekly at the temples here and ask my ancestors for guidance and as a result my life has constantly been better and happier.

Last week one of the monks urged me to sit by the lotus pond and pay attention to the flowers blossoming by the sunlight, the very act was calming and enlightening. A flower that was born in the mud but neither smells nor tainted by the mud continues to thrive in light and happiness, and closes itself off to any kind of darkness or negativity...is still beautiful regardless of life's obstacles. This brought me so much joy, we are all like the lotus if we close ourselves off from negativity and forgive others for their trespassing. Even the smell of incense early in the morning, or sweeping the temple grounds makes one feel fulfilled and fills one with happiness.

bro..... use King James. Satan is at war with the truth. Remember that.

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 King James Version (KJV)
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, works for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory;

Our sufferings are temporary but we will have eternity life within God's glory.
