Gotta admit, I'm a little disappointed this post wasn't signed off:
The black and white, nice little beard, must be related to my cat with the moustache, Groucho. Those cats are known as Tuxedos, not a special breed just the way they are marked. Hair is silky.View attachment 47726
Polly and Alfie.
My 15 year old cat died in October last year. I got Polly and Alfie from a cat shelter in June this year. They are brother and sister, 18 months old. Polly on the left is a Tortoiseshell. They have taken a liking to my Parker knoll sofa, which I use when listening to music on my HI-FI, that is when they are not occupying it. Due to the amount of fur they leave behind, I now have a small blanket covering the seats most of the time.
Thank you for your comments and for the information about Tuxedos which I wasn't aware of. I have always raised cats from a kitten and bought from a pet shop. My intention was to only get one cat from the shelter. Polly and Alfie were located in different parts of the cattery so unaware they were siblings, until the owner informed me he cannot separate them for this reason. The previous owner was moving home and couldn't take them. The black and white, nice little beard, must be related to my cat with the moustache, Groucho. That's cats, our cat is into everything. We brought her home from a rescue centre, the lady would take cooked chicken and just toss pieces at the cats, so it was survival, being just 6 weeks old she had no chance. We got her home, and went through many tins of feed and the poor little girl had no idea of tinned food. But eventually she decided, ok you hoomans I like this one, so this is the one. Well of course the most expensive one. Also Michael, the Tuxedos are smarter than most breeds.Thank you for your comments and for the information about Tuxedos which I wasn't aware of. For the first six weeks I had to keep them in and not let them out. The settling in period was chaotic at times. Running, jumping and climbing all over the place. Opening up draws, cupboards and wardrobes just to see what's inside to investigate. The term curiosity killed the cat came to mind many times. Thankfully, they are much calmer now.

Well done Elmer, for rescuing your cat and giving it a good home. I cannot understand the reasons some people treat animals in the way you describe. I wasn't aware Tuxedoes are smarter than most breeds, something I will have to watch out for. I also went through a selection of different foods as they are very fussy. Polly refuses to eat wet food and will only eat dry food from one particular brand. The vet said that's okay as long as she drinks enough water. Alfie prefers wet food and has a ravenous appetite which I try not to give into. That's cats, our cat is into everything.
