A repair/maintenance job.@aot what job did you have to turn down? If it's not a secret...
Have you ever thought about trying to get a job in a library? Maybe few and far between, but still worth a try.
Damn nepotism ruins it for everyone. Sorry, Shera. At least you don't have to be around those screaming kids.Speaking of library jobs I've been hounding my local library for a spot. They need someone with computer tech skills and one of their older women was retiring. I even had some of the other employees vouching for me. I do computers and while I was in there dropping off my resume (again) the head librarian even commented about computer know how. I fixed one of their glitchy computers with her watching in a matter of seconds. (Wasn't a glitch, someone accidentally turned the picture upside down on the monitor).
Sadly she wanted to waste me on the kids' story time. Basically a glorified day care worker. I think it's because of the small town and local church connections you have to have. *sighs* I wonder if landing a library job is harder elsewhere. (Because finding work in my little town comes down to which church and ward you're in.) I called about it last week and the librarian in charge pretty much laughed at me and said I'd be waiting for years for a position to open up. I highly doubt all the young kids they hired last year are going to stick around.
I'm listening to the radio version of the episode. At one point the secretary says, "My ears are ringing already", and, "All that noise is going to come and bite him".Has anyone seen The Twilight Zone episode "Sounds and Silences"?
I think it might actually be on of the earliest media depictions of hyperacusis, even if the makers probably had no intention of such.
Does he go deaf? That's what happens in the show.@aot I should have listened to the end of the episode. He goes to a shrink and realises it's all in his head LOL.
It doesn't state it explicitly, but that is what's presumed.Does he go deaf? That's what happens in the show.
I agree. @Shera should put a photo of herself up or @OnceUponaTime needs to get the whip out.

Thank you for the invite. Though that's a long journey from my place to yours. If I recall correctly. It's actually a small 3 acres, 14 feet deep man-made lake. Yes, in my property and you are more than welcome to come visit us.

Regina was my favorite character.

Yes, but it comes with a hefty price. We have to maintain it... keep it clean. So, it can get pretty expensive. We just put a nice amount of carp fish last season to help with the clean up.You own the lake? That's wonderful, it really is.
I can imagine. Do you have a very big house to go with it? Looks idyllic.Yes, but it comes with a hefty price. We have to maintain it... keep it clean. So, it can get pretty expensive. We just put a nice amount of carp fish last season to help with the clean up.
I bet! The fish are a great idea. I think most people just try to aerate pond around here and I'm pretty sure they just put trout in for fishing and it's messy. Though a lot of them just leave them stagnate and it's a mosquito pit.Yes, but it comes with a hefty price. We have to maintain it... keep it clean. So, it can get pretty expensive. It is a moderate size home.I can imagine. Do you have a very big house to go with it? Looks idyllic.
Oh, that's so sad. Wondering what could have caused that?Sadly when I went up there this year to feed them the pond was dry!! I'm heart broken and I hope they made it to another pond to winter.
Fantastic! It is a moderate size home.
Here's Louie watching some Canadian Geese on the lake.

You must be in upstate New York, am I correct? Only saying that because years back we had a young man from upstate New York show us pictures of the country side and the hardwood changing colours in the fall.Oh, that's so sad. Wondering what could have caused that?
If it was man made, it could have been a broken drain valve.
So lovely! I feel like he's thinking: "Will they be my friends."Here's Louie watching some Canadian Geese on the lake.
Apparently the people who owned the pond got tired of everyone stopping by. So we're not sure if they sold the place or just decided to drain it. At least they did it early enough for the turtles to find a new place for hibernation. Though the pond was so far from their house I don't see the problem. That's cruel. I will admit I did slip feeder gold fish in there for the turtles . . . but the turtles ate them so fast!!!Oh, that's so sad. Wondering what could have caused that?

Awwwww, so sorry for your loss, Elmer. We lost our cat, had to put her to rest. It's pretty damn lonely with her gone. The wife just announced we are headed for the cat rescue to pick out a new kitten.
WOOOOOHOOOOO can't wait.
