Chit Chat and All That...

@aot what job did you have to turn down? If it's not a secret...

Have you ever thought about trying to get a job in a library? Maybe few and far between, but still worth a try.

Speaking of library jobs I've been hounding my local library for a spot. They need someone with computer tech skills and one of their older women was retiring. I even had some of the other employees vouching for me. I do computers and while I was in there dropping off my resume (again) the head librarian even commented about computer know how. I fixed one of their glitchy computers with her watching in a matter of seconds. (Wasn't a glitch, someone accidentally turned the picture upside down on the monitor).

Sadly she wanted to waste me on the kids' story time. Basically a glorified day care worker. I think it's because of the small town and local church connections you have to have. *sighs* I wonder if landing a library job is harder elsewhere. (Because finding work in my little town comes down to which church and ward you're in.) I called about it last week and the librarian in charge pretty much laughed at me and said I'd be waiting for years for a position to open up. I highly doubt all the young kids they hired last year are going to stick around.

Damn nepotism ruins it for everyone. Sorry, Shera. :huganimation:At least you don't have to be around those screaming kids.

Has anyone seen The Twilight Zone episode "Sounds and Silences"?
I think it might actually be on of the earliest media depictions of hyperacusis, even if the makers probably had no intention of such.

I'm listening to the radio version of the episode. At one point the secretary says, "My ears are ringing already", and, "All that noise is going to come and bite him".

God damn it, @aot, that episode is 100% about tinnitus and hyperacusis. It's amazing. If only i'd seen or heard it way back when... and, even if I had,... would have taken notice of it.

Every single word of the episode resonates with tinnitus and hyperacusis sufferers. They use words like ringing and shrill and noise and sound throughout. Even mention noise laws, inner and outer ear, ear wax and inflammation. Amazing. The guy has fallen into madness because of sound.

The episode is from 1964!!

I agree. @Shera should put a photo of herself up or @OnceUponaTime needs to get the whip out.
Yes, great idea. Honestly everything always goes back to Once and her whip, at least for me.
Bahaha... c'mon you guys!!! You know I'm nice! We needed to win the STAT competition for Susan Shore!! I did what I had to do for the greater good... bahahahah. (See what you've done @Ed209??? :cautious: )

Plus I'll never whip my dear @Shera. By the way, how are you doing, Shera? How's the chickies doing? Guess what? I have the cutest Snow Goose ever!!!!!! I still don't know if it is she or a he, but we named him Louie... haha.

@OnceUponaTime That's good to hear.

My ladies are doing quite well. I'm getting things ready to make babies. Sadly when I introduced the rooster he tried to beat the crap out of the Ladies so I got to reintroduce him the long way. *sighs* My girls would have killed him if he kept that up. They don't put up with no rooster crap.

Ah!!! Louie is so lovely!!! I love Snow Geese. They're the sweetest breed of geese. There was one on my way to work that lived off they highway were a natural hot spring came up. I stopped and fed her constantly and watched her hatch many babies. I always wondered what happened to her when they widened the high way. She lived there year round due to the hot spring.

That pond is lovely!!! Is that on your property? I'd love to picnic read there!!

I've been meaning to ask you Once if your user name is because you're a fan of the Once Upon a Time show?

It's actually a small 3 acres, 14 feet deep man-made lake. Yes, in my property and you are more than welcome to come visit us. :)

Regina was my favorite character.

I've only just seen this post. Sometimes when I'm tagged I don't get notified.

Thank you for the invite. Though that's a long journey from my place to yours. If I recall correctly.

Regina is my fave too. :love:I found a great deal on the entire series and started a rewatch. I realized that Regina was super evil in the beginning! Wow! :sneaky:
But actually it is because once upon a time... I had no tinnitus.
:huganimation:Ah, I feel ya.

You own the lake? That's wonderful, it really is.

Yes, but it comes with a hefty price. We have to maintain it... keep it clean. So, it can get pretty expensive. We just put a nice amount of carp fish last season to help with the clean up.

I bet! The fish are a great idea. I think most people just try to aerate pond around here and I'm pretty sure they just put trout in for fishing and it's messy. Though a lot of them just leave them stagnate and it's a mosquito pit.

That little gazebo is so cute!! I just want to unfold my rocking chair in it!! Sit and read/watch nature.

My sister "accidentally" let some of my pet turtles escape when we were both kids. There's a canyon that used to have a pond that you could see all these turtles swimming and sun bathing. They were my breed of turtle so I knew they had survived and were thriving!! :rockingbanana: Sadly when I went up there this year to feed them the pond was dry!! I'm heart broken and I hope they made it to another pond to winter.

Oh, that's so sad. Wondering what could have caused that?
If it was man made, it could have been a broken drain valve.

You must be in upstate New York, am I correct? Only saying that because years back we had a young man from upstate New York show us pictures of the country side and the hardwood changing colours in the fall.

And this young man was studying to be a forester, we hired students for summer work to help with the knowledge besides book learning.

We lost our cat, had to put her to rest. It's pretty damn lonely with her gone. The wife just announced we are headed for the cat rescue to pick out a new kitten.

WOOOOOHOOOOO can't wait.

Here's Louie watching some Canadian Geese on the lake.
 So lovely! I feel like he's thinking: "Will they be my friends."

I have a geese picture I should share too!

Apparently the people who owned the pond got tired of everyone stopping by. So we're not sure if they sold the place or just decided to drain it. At least they did it early enough for the turtles to find a new place for hibernation. Though the pond was so far from their house I don't see the problem. That's cruel. I will admit I did slip feeder gold fish in there for the turtles . . . but the turtles ate them so fast!!!

Awwwww, so sorry for your loss, Elmer.
And at the same time glad you are getting a new kitten.
Share a picture as soon as you bring him/her home!
:huganimation:

I should get a hairless cat.
