Chit Chat and All That...

There's nothing wrong with that.
:rockingbanana::p;)
t's annoying when alerts don't show up. I don't like missing out on posts either.
Yeah! It always seems like it happens when there's finally some chit chat in the thread and then I get totally lost! :banghead:
That's true. We do go through ups and downs with tinnitus. Seeing an audiologist who is also a tinnitus expert on Wednesday helped me. I saw her for a sound therapy checkup. She has tinnitus too and she told me that using a meditation app helps her when her tinnitus gets really loud in her left ear.

It also helped to talk to an expert who can empathize. The audiologist said that doctors who prescribe medication like my former PCP did lack empathy because they don't have tinnitus themselves. She also slowed down the Zen tones in my hearing device. Good appointment overall!

I'm sorry that you've had a heck of a year with other health issues, but you seem so positive in spite of them. Good for you! *high fives you*
It is nice when your audiogist can realate. I hated it when my mom would go to ones who shrug her off, pat her head, and told her to live with it. Everyone does. Glad she had some solid advice. Is your hearing device just for tinnitus?

Thank you! I try to stay positive. I miss how positive and mindful I use to be before tinnitus.
Thanks for telling me about "Magic Bites". It's great that you love the series so much. I hope that you can get back into your trance like state with reading. It can be easier to do that with with silence. In my introduction thread, you mentioned that reading was getting easier. I hope that your focus with reading is improving.
Yes! I'm glad it seems like something you might like. All of their books are so grrrrrreat! ;) Me too. I miss my reading trances. My focus is improving. It's made me so happy! :rockingbanana: Ah, thank you. :huganimation: What's one of your favorite book series?

You should! Cartoons and animation are fantastic. :D

Omg! Animaniacs. It's my childhood. The trailer for the reboot made me laugh and smile. The scenes with Pinky and the Brain made me smile! Thanks for posting it. :)
I'm really looking forward to the reboot. The show was one of my faves before it went cable only.

This one's for the folks of the UK:

It really is nice! I'm sorry that your mom has dealt with doctors shrugging her off, but that doesn't surprise me. Yes, my hearing device is called a combination device. It amplifies sound in my right ear and plays soothing Zen tones that can help distract from the tinnitus. It's different from a proper hearing aid.

You still seem really positive to me!:D Yay for your focus improving. :rockingbanana: I can go into reading trances on and off even with tinnitus. It depends on how intrusive my tinnitus is being. I love the Yona of the Dawn manga series. I discovered the anime two years ago and fell in love. Then I started reading the manga series at the beginning of last year and enjoyed it just as much as the anime.

I'd like to expand my horizons with reading. Thanks again for the recommendation!

Ah, okay. Zen noises sound way better than the masking stuff they tried to get me to wear. Maybe that was the point. Make me hate the masker noise more than my tinnitus? I didn't take them due to price, and I couldn't stand that noise!

Thank you. When my tinnitus was very mild, I could only really hear it in complete silence and then it was barely audible, I could still reach my reading trance. My increase in tinnitus was so severe that—boom—just took it away like that. I've gotten close a few times to reading trances, but not fully.

It's been ages since Yona of the Dawn, but I remember loving it. I forgot there was an anime.

Have you read Fruits Basket? You should read it. Now. There's also an anime you can read after. There's the original and now the reboots.

Hi y'all,

1 year Valium free on Halloween.

I had never used or had an interest in this drug until my life was turned upside down with tinnitus and hyperacusis. The drug really did help me, maybe saved me and my family , as my nervous system was out of control and I was a complete mess.

Anyhoo, things change, and I am in a different place now. Tinnitus hasn't changed.
Just wanted to share that.

Love and peace to you my forum friends.

As a spooky treat for you all, here's a blast from the past: The Scooby Doo Blair Witch Project.

In 1999, three Scooby Doo marathons were being aired in the month of October. The Blair Witch Project was getting a lot of buzz at the time, so the folks at Warner Bros. developed a parody starring the Scooby Gang, which was cut into three parts and aired during commercial breaks. (Cartoon Network used to do this kind of thing a lot, with both this and the "Cartoon Network city" bumpers. But they don't really do it much anymore from what I understand, aside from the funny texts you occasionally get on your screen whilst watching Adult Swim. But don't even get me started because that's a rant for another day. :p)

It was well received, and helped renew interest in the property. It won an Annie Award for Best Short Form Program.

It must've run for a few years afterwards because I vaguely recall seeing bits of it back in 2004 when I was a kid, alongside Scary Godmother (the good old days before tinnitus and hyperacusis.)

Anyway, just found it and got hit by a wave of nostalgia, so I thought I'd share.

(Also has anyone here watched Over The Garden Wall? @Shera and @Rjbookworm?)

The virus has and did stop the kids coming round this year. They all usually show up on horses, not a child to be seen, now we have a huge bowl of sweets and apples that were for the horses. That's lockdown, no fun allowed. But I suppose it's parents safety that kept them in.

Now who wants a handful of sweets?

Wow, that's incredible they were so good.

You'd never guess there was a pandemic around here. Business as usual. Even though the cases are up and our small area had 3 deaths.

Good afternoon T people, how is everyone doing?? Are we still hearing the raves in our heads??

Wait stupid question... of course we are :LOL:

Today's history lesson:

To tan leather families peed into a pot then once a week they took the pot of urine to the tannery and sold it. This was known as "piss poor."
Other people who didn't have a pot for urinating into were known as "poor and not a pot to piss in."
These folks were the lowest of poor.

The next lesson:

When bread was baked in the old iron pot the workers got the burnt crust from the bottom of the loaf, the families got the middle part and the guests got the upper crust, thus known as "the upper crust of people."

Good to hear from you @Jcb! How have you been?

Up and down and all the way around haha not much change to be honest. Trying to keep my head above water as most of us are. How have you and your gorgeous cats been?

"crocodile tears" comes from when people used to think that the crocs shed tears after killing their pray, they can cry after eating or fighting but not from remorse. This is associated with people who "fake cry" or being hypocritical with their false remorse.

Queue Avril Lavine's song.

My gorgeous kitties are doing good. Someone dropped off a kitten that was clearly just getting off of mother's milk, so there was some upset. The kitten couldn't be outside cause they can't regulate they're body temps that young.

Good thing I adopted her out within a day. I might have kept the precious angel. I think my cats sensed it. After all none of them play with me like a kitten or look at you that way. I've got adolescent jerk wads right now.

Except for Sneekers, but she's outdoors so she's happy to get any attention.

I'm hoping this is not a sign about how the drop offs are going to be this year. I'm just happy the kitten made it to me before predators. That's usually what gets them. The huge ass birds and then at night everything else. The cougars have been hanging down here. And with covid I can't foster them until the shelter can make room. If you can get a hold of the shelter.

History
In old times when folks had no running water it was heated over the open fire. After warming, it was then poured into a large tub, where bathing took place. Most folk bathed once a year and that was in May. Most weddings at that time were held in June. This being that body odour was still not too bad. To help disguise the odour the brides held a bouquet of fresh flowers, the aroma hid the body odour. Hence the carrying of flowers in today's weddings.

Good kitty mum Shera. That sounds so sad but doesn't surprise me, there are so so many stray, unwanted animals world wide, some where neutering isn't an option.

Fecking hell cougars  where do you live again haha I'm guessing you are talking about the cats and not the "alluring older woman" who wants some younger guys  don't know which one is more dangerous

Big heart Shera that's what you have, if the world had more people like you maybe it wouldn't be such a shitty place.

I fecking despise Guy Fawkes night so much!! Fireworks are such a waste of time and pointless noise pollution. Sitting here with my noise defenders on because it's been crazy loud the last two nights with fireworks going off.
