Chit Chat and All That...

The saw came down across my thigh. As for health, a heart attack 2 years back, but it didn't kill me. I still push the mower saw firewood and walk every day.
I'm sorry about the heart attack.

Good to hear you're still active, I think that's important.

I had an uncle who stopped smoking drinking at 60. He started walking every day, passed away last year after very short sickness. 89 years old.

Do you use a regular saw for firewood?

Dangerous work tree cutting. My little sister is a tree surgeon. She's been doing it for 14 years now, which in that time, she's has had a couple of accidents, which were caused by the stupidity of others, and not her. In fact, it was other people being careless which made her go self employed.

Occasionally if she needs help, I'll come work with her. I can use the ropes and climb etc, but I don't have a chainsaw license so I only chop on the ground (which is still naughty, I know), guide her up the tree, use the chipper, drag brash etc. It's bloody hard work. You have to be hell of a fit to do that sort of work.

Bloody shit that you got tinnitus from an ear infection after all those years of using saws!
Yeah, well one thing is for sure Steph, we never know what life's going to throw at us. I've got two more hair raising experiences working in the woods. Honestly I'd still be doing it, it's something I loved, just being alone and working.

Explain regular saw.

At this time I quit writing this stuff. I think if anything should happen we should just get on with everyday life. I'm giving this over to whomever wants to waste time writing. I'm wrecked.

Uhmm... this is everyday life...
For you maybe, but I've got other things in my day that doesn't include sitting on my arse writing and trying to think of what and who is involved. Tinnitus is skyrocketing, my attitude is FUCK OFF, not towards anyone on this forum, just that I'm tired and need my own time. So with that I'm going off the air.

I hope it goes down soon.

And welcome back soon too :)

And we're all involved somehow unfortunately :)

Just saw a documentary from India and a part of it had very small children living on the streets without any parents. Cute kids, still had a sparkle in their eyes just like kids around here.

I really can't understand the concept, why aren't some people there willing to adopt them...?

I would probably have 12 in my house after a week if I lived there :)

Can't help to think it should take less than 5 years for a couple in the Western world to adopt a kid?

If both parents are healthy and have resources and are relatively young.

After all it only takes 9 months to make one yourself, so 2 years should be plenty to prepare for adoption :)

A friend's friend is a very young African girl, she visited home country and was asked to adopt a kid because she has Norwegian citizenship. So this young single girl now lives here with her adopted kid. Easy peasy...
Process muy rápido.

Okay a little to rapid but it shows it can be done without 5 years.

Okay... no one cares about homeless kids around here, great!

@aura, did your husband spank you this weekend? :)

How's the foot going?

Do you want Dr. Exit to come have a look? :) :) :)

I actually have a whole 3 months of med school practice some 20 years ago :D

They kicked me out because I was too creepy even for med school standards...

The job is amazing, but unfortunately some of the people I work with are a pain in the butt. o_O

Exhibition design wasn't something I had ever considered. I got into it by accident really.
Hi Steph,

Just out of curiosity and reciprocity to liking my last profile status, wanted to ask if your profile status is still up to date or the work stuff got better then?

Hi @Adaś.

How are you doing? Very jealous of where you are right now. I need beach and sunshine. It's supposedly summer, but here in the UK it's grey and keeps raining. :bored:

Actually, no, work is no better. I want to leave but I need to stay until the end of the year, at least. They have just asked to extend my contract as well, but I don't want to work there any longer than is necessary.

It's not very often I don't fit in with other people, but at my current job, I seem to be the odd one out. It doesn't matter what I do, I feel they don't really like me.

The job wasn't long term anyway. I want to do my Master next year, so I was planning on leaving soonish anyway. I've just gotta be strong and see these last few months out. It's going to take a lot of will power. :(

Eh Steph?

The Museum job sounded awesome.

I thought it was just the work load that was making you want to leave?

I was going to say: couldn't you just negotiate less responsibility or something?... but if there's friction between you and your colleagues, then that's another matter entirely; nothing makes me want to leave a job sooner.

That sucks, but maybe they enjoy staying in their little own clique or they're just a...holes. I used to think that there's something wrong with me that some people don't like me or worse - ignore me, but then when I change my environment I find some other folks that I enjoy working with or talking to. So IMHO when some people don't like me, I don't give a damn because there's also nothing I find likable in them.

Oh, I am doing fine, although my vacation is over. Slowly becoming a distant memory. All I can enjoy now is sunny and currently pretty hot Switzerland. To be honest I prefer rainy days when working from home, rather that what's now. On top of that, when weather's good there are children running and screaming all around the block here, so I need to find a balance between a noise and an oxygen.

I often trick the system by taking long naps during the hot day and working late in the evening when the heat diminishes and kids go home.

Actually July was pretty nice this year hear, raining almost everyday ;)

The work load is pretty ridiculous, but trust me, the people are worse.

The place is full of stuck up people who think they are better than the rest. There is a massive clash between the curators, conservationists, exhibitions, and collections. Literally, they all hate each other.

I've never heard the word 'toxic' thrown around so much. That's what they all say about each other. Yet no one will leave because they enjoy the "prestigious" title of working in the heritage industry.

Well fuck that shit! There's no way I am staying there for the sake of sounding like I have a cool job. I have other options luckily... better options.

@Damocles, honestly, I can fit in with most people, but in this place, I can't at all. I feel under appreciated, and not wanted half the time. Which sucks. But I need to ride the year out, because having a years worth of working in museum exhibition and design, looks banging on a CV. Plus I am still being trained in different graphics design programmes for free, so I need to finish those courses too.

So as much as I hate it, thinking long term, it's better to stay and finish the courses and be able to put a years worth of experience down.

But fuck! I would love to never go into that place again. :(

P.S. sorry for the rant. Needed to get that off my chest.

@aura, did your husband spank you this weekend? :)
Sorry to disappoint you, but spanking wasn't on the menu this weekend:(
How's the foot going?
Still not going anywhere.
Do you want Dr. Exit to come have a look? :) :) :)
You would be the fourth doctor taking a look.
I agree, but only if you give me good news.
The last one told me to keep using the walker for another 2 weeks!
I actually have a whole 3 months of med school practice some 20 years ago :D
Well aren't you full of surprises!

Always the mysterious one around here... when are you going to reveal your true identity, Dr. Exit? :sneaky:
They kicked me out because I was too creepy even for med school standards...
I am so shocked... not! :D

Dr.Exit would probably need to check your temperature before giving you great news :) :) :)
The last one told me to keep using the walker for another 2 weeks!
We should upgrade you to an electric wheelchair!
Well aren't you full of surprises!
Have I told you about the year I worked as a drag queen artist in Bangkok with @Elmer B Fuddled as manager and @Wrfortiscue as my make up boy?

Would make stalking a lot more difficult!

It's cool by me. I have a variety of infrared thermometers! ;)
We should upgrade you to an electric wheelchair!
I bet you're looking forward to deflate those wheels!

Go ahead, the night is young!

I would love to never go into that place again.
Really sorry to hear this Steph, but I think you're smart to tough it out until the end of the year; having worked in such an impressive field is no doubt going to help you moving forward.
I can fit in with most people, but in this place, I can't at all.
I hear you. So just like @Adaś said, f*ck 'em. You're absolutely loved in the only club that matters anyway, the breakfast tinnitus club!! :beeranimation: :huganimation:

Oh my... @aura, still up at these unspeakable hours on a Sunday night?

Well I need my beauty sleep now.
But to keep a long story short.

The other girls and I were working our butts off in a fancy tancy 6 star hotel singing and dancing all night for some pesky Asian business men. We were all they could think about so you could blame the Asian crisis on us ;)

They were giggling their brains out and shooting champagne all over us femme fatales in our 7 inch pink shoes, waxed legs and short skimpy dresses!

One night a Swedish billionaire living in Norway showed up. We ended up in the sack and married after a week!

When we got home I took off with half his money and the Maserati ;)

One happy Ending!

That sucks, but maybe they enjoy staying in their little own clique or they're just a...holes.
You're absolutely right! They certainly have their little clique.

It's hard because some days (like today) I feel I really fit in. But other days I feel like a complete outsider.

I think a lot has to do with the fact that no one is really happy in the job. There is a lot of finger pointing and blame passing from all different departments. No one gets on.
I used to think that there's something wrong with me that some people don't like me or worse - ignore me, but then when I change my environment I find some other folks that I enjoy working with or talking to.
I've worked with some amazing people before, who became good friends over time. I guess these people I currently work with, just aren't my people.
So IMHO when some people don't like me, I don't give a damn because there's also nothing I find likable in them.
I love your attitude! This is going to be my attitude from now on!
To be honest I prefer rainy days when working from home
Yeah, rainy days are made for working at home. I always find them more relaxing. When the weather is nice, all I wanna do is be outside.
I often trick the system by taking long naps during the hot day and working late in the evening when the heat diminishes and kids go home.
Haha! I like your style!

Anyway, I'm glad you're doing okay. It's nice to see people on this forum able to get and out and do normal things if they can. :)

Yeah I was the drag queens manager, problem was @Exit kept wanting to use bright pink lip gloss with deep red eye shadow and wear a fucking speedo. His makeup boy @Wrfortiscue quit giving reason that a certain Miss @aura had lured him over to the Bangkok strip club featuring a tattoo lady and a blonde one who carried a little bag of opium. The poor guy was hooked not on opium but on the tattoo lady. In the meantime @Elmer B Fuddled bought a local bar with extra rooms for entertaining the men. Money rolled in, almost as rich as the cleaning lady. But under it all the place was a fence for laundering money.

Bangkok is the place to be growing money for free.

@Elmer B Fuddled we missed you!:)

How are you doing today?

I don't know if you have heard the latest gossip!

Apparently our makeup boy is too hung to fit a hole! :D
