Ciprofloxacin Downregulates GABA Receptors

I imagine downregulation relates to an alteration in function?

Can GABAA receptors be unregulated?

Here's a link to an article that mentions this:

Selective antagonism of the GABAA receptor by ciprofloxacin and biphenylacetic acid

@FGG
It doesn't say they downregulate the receptors, it says they antagonize them. This seems like relatively new information from a literature search, I can't find if the receptors' antagonism is reversible or over what time frame.

It also appears to mess with serotonin and noradrenaline levels.

I imagine the body could readjust (even if it had to upregulate other GABA receptors etc) in most cases but it could take a long time.
