Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2 / COVID-19) and Tinnitus

This well-done 5-minute video made an awful lot of sense to me. In fact, it sorta feels like I found a gem.

How to kill Corona Virus at home, COVID 19 by Dr Dan Lee Dimke, PhD. Hot air therapy
Oi Vey, (spelling)... Yiddish expression that is appropriate here...

Hi Lane, always appreciate your posts and you as a friend here.

This "gem" made me chuckle. It's absurd and I could see a bunch of foolish people electrocuting themselves.

To get some steam in your system if you don't have a private sauna or steam room...
Simply boil a pot of water... place on a wood cutting board or suitable surface and put a towel over your head. You have made a mini steam room where you can clean out your mucus and open up your lungs.
Old school without all the nonsense.

@Ed209 hope your loved ones are getting better.
Fellow Tinnitus Talk forum members hope you guys are safe too.

Calm before the storm here in Laos.

Hi all,

I have not tested positive, as my state is not testing unless you're a health care worker or admitted to the hospital. But I believe I also had Covid-19 and was told by my PCP to self isolate, as well as my family.

My family traveled internationally late last month to a place with no known cases. But about ten of us got ill, all to different varying degrees.

For my immediate family, it started with my daughter. Her symptoms were extremely mild. Nothing more than a very dry hack like cough and fatigue. No runny nose, or anything. At this point I assumed just another cold.

I got it next. Day 1, I had a pretty bad headache. Nothing else. Day 2- woke up with a sore throat that felt like a tickle. This led to a very dry hack like cough, as well. The coughs were so harsh they made my body hurt. This lasted a couple days. By day 4 I developed a temperature of 101-102, along with body aches and chills. My fever lingered for two days, and during this time I developed shortness of breath. The best I can describe it would be similar to something like walking to the bathroom would have me winded like I just went for a run. I am on day 8 and feel pretty much back to normal, minus the fatigue.

For me personally, this was not as bad as times when I have had the Flu. Although I know it's different for everyone. I also know it can come back worse in the second week, so I'm hoping I don't jinx myself here.

My husband's symptoms started yesterday. So I'm hoping his will be somewhat mild, as well.

Stay safe, hope your whole family recovers.

Be sure to get tested once available, a lot of tests are being brought in and going to be made available over the next few weeks.

There's been some concerning news that COVID-19 can remain in your system even after you feel better. What it's still doing in the system and if you can reinfect yourself and others is not known yet as far as I've seen. Still need more research. Be sure to rule it out and get tested anyways and follow up with the research on this.

Wish you the best.

Hey @Daniel Lion -- Interestingly, I sent this information to my sister (and a few others), and she got some good chuckles out of it as well. Here's what she wrote:

"I do not know, this sounds lethal. What happens when you put a hair dryer in a tub? You get electrocuted, right? and he is suggesting you spray and heat at the same time??? Tell you what, find me a video showing someone actually doing what he is recommending and let's see what happens. Maybe he might volunteer? I would also like to see how he determines if it actually worked, if he is still alive after all that... LOL!!! Sorry, I just can't take this seriously!!! Did you???"

Here's my response. Notice I was "too polite" to point out her lack of confidence in using a relatively minimal amount of dexterity. :D -- I left out her name for the sake of her privacy.

Hi [dear sister], I posted this online, and got a somewhat similar response to yours. This sort of surprised me, because the reason(s) I found the video so interesting had little to do with the hair dryer. For me, it was learning--after following the whole coronavirus thing play out over months now--that it's actually quite vulnerable. I mean, if it can be killed at only 133 degrees F, then why can't that knowledge be used to bring this whole coronavirus crisis to a screeching halt?

Instead of "mandating" people stay at home for what, the next 50 days or so? Why not just have everybody start doing things to raise the temperature in their sinuses and/or lungs on a regular basis. Go out to do some shopping? No problem, come home, do a hot air treatment, and dramatically increase your protection. A person doesn't have to use a hair dryer if they think it's too dangerous. How about doing an old sinus clearing technique where you boil water, put a towel over your head, and breathing in hot steam for a while.

Or how about doing a sinus cleanse with added iodine that probably has as much potential as any hot air treatment. I still haven't gotten around to doing the sinus cleanse described in the following linked video, but I don't know why it wouldn't be incredibly effective against the coronavirus. -- Chronic Sinus Problems? Try the Bulletproof Sinus Rinse

And then there's a hydrogen peroxide inhalation technique that I think would also be a great adjunct. -- Learn the Right Way To Do Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method for Viruses, COPD, Congestion This one I have done, and take a spray bottle with me when I go out, which isn't too often. But when I left WalMart yesterday, I got to my van, sprayed some H2O2 mist onto my face, and into my sinuses and lungs. -- I'm telling ya [dear sister] this virus doesn't stand a chance with me! LOL

Then of course, there's the sauna treatment, which is probably what I most had in mind when I sent this to you. Sit in a normal sauna for 20 minutes, destroy 90% of the coronavirus load. Do another 20 minutes an hour later, and kill the rest. Wow, that's pretty amazing. And it sure sounds like it would be very effective. Especially if a person added a good amount of Vitamin C, and/or other well know herbal (or non-drug) antivirals, along with sinus rinses and H2O2 inhalation therapy. I just don't understand why people aren't seeing how the whole approach and mindset toward this virus are so unduly limiting.

And expensive! I'm hearing the cost to counter the coronavirus and its economic effects could run anywhere from $2-5T, as in trillion with a T. For just a tiny fraction of that, the U.S. government could buy a sauna for every family unit in this country for about $100B. Or they could buy a modified "safe" hair dryer for each family household for about $10B. Or maybe the government could set up giant modified hair dryers all around the country in public places. Where people can--let's say do some shopping--and before going home, stand in front of a giant "hair dryer" in the parking lot that gives an adequate "hot air treatment". -- Perhaps the country's biggest challenge is a lack of imagination. But on the other hand, maybe my biggest challenge is an overactive imagination! LOL

Joe Rogan had an infectious disease specialist on his podcast (I believe from U of Minnesota if I am not mistaken) who actually is one of the national experts on the Coronavirus family of viruses and asked him about cooking the virus in a similar manner to what you describe and he said bluntly that hot air cools down too fast to ever reach your lungs (which is why it is not painful to breathe in sauna air) and it is a good thing too because that temperature would be destructive to lung tissue. Similarly, lungs would freeze in cold temps if there wasn't this homeostasis.

Joe Rogan is apparently a big fan of saunas and heat therapy and asked him again a number of different ways so the guest went over the exact lung physiology behind this. The whole podcast was really informative and I encourage you to listen if you get a chance.

Hi Lane,

I actually have hydrogen peroxide and watched your recommended video.

I also have herbal steam baths regularly, for decades.

We have a local village herbal steam that costs about 2 dollars and is awesome, it has fragrant leaves that make the steam fantastic. My kids dig it too.

I am going to build myself one, I hope I can get it done before the virus hits, but if it's not up and running, I will definitely be using pots of water with lemon grass and other leaves.

We have no access to hospitals here, it's a poor nation and if there are ventilators, they will be used up quickly. Being an ex smoker, I am nervous, so I have been exercising even more than usual... it's calming my nerves and I need to run my boys around because of the school closures. We have lots of fresh coconuts, ginger tee and tropical fruits. Being mindful of dengue and malaria is a must because that doesn't mix well with the C. Virus., a death sentence. Most of the people I know haven't prepared because they are poor and don't have extra resources or they aren't terribly bothered.

So my friend, I am getting vitamin C, but in fruits and veg. I am doing saunas, because I love them and they are just wonderful and it's what I always do. I have stalked up on water, much to the shagrin of my neighbors and I am focused on my kids. It's impossible to isolate here... everything is too communal, but I am getting my wife on board.

Fingers crossed for everyone... talk to you soon.

Schools, work and most shops were closed down in the Netherlands the past week. The amount of covid cases (and deaths) is now increasing massively, especially in the south.

A few guidelines have been active, including the following (among some others, but irrelevant for this post):

  • Maintain a distance of at least 1.5m.
  • Stay inside as much as possible.
  • Don't group up together.
  • Taking a walk is fine, but avoid close contact (guideline 1).

And what happens this weekend?

People are visiting beaches and construction markets (the ones still open) in hordes, without any regard for guidelines concerning distance and groups, treating the whole ordeal as some kind of holiday.

At this point I hope they're gonna apply military force here... I have no words for the ignorance.

Same thing happened here.

Tourists and locals flocking to Bondi Beach in New South Wales, completely oblivious.

The beach has since been closed, thankfully.

Costco announced they'll be opening their doors an hour earlier, from 8-9am on Tues & Thurs, for those over 60.

I'm not looking forward to the delay that this will cause for tinnitus treatments. Or yet another spike from eventually getting infected...

This is like 1-2 more years of having a chance to get catastrophic tinnitus before a treatment might give me my old life back. >_>

Meanwhile in Russia, there are still only 367 reported cases from a supposed 163 529 tests. Neither of those figures rings true, but people are still lapping it all up. Disinformation wins. People die.

Meanwhile in Russia the propaganda is being further ratcheted up... about how Russia is sending its military to help Italy (a NATO country) in this time of need.

Meanwhile, meanwhile, meanwhile in Russia... America is being blamed for everything.

I really do live in a clown's world...

I'm genuinely pissed off at the lack of care here. People who think they're invincible, who think it's not as serious - I'm sure many of us thought it wasn't but we've since learned better - and go out as if they're on holiday... it's ridiculous. No one os forcing you to stay inside the entire day, you're still allowed to go for walks around your neighbourhood etc, just don't go to busy public places and keep your distance.

I cannot stay home because of my job so I am more at risk but aside from that and necessities, I stay home. Meanwhile people who don't need to leave the house just do so because they feel like they can... and that in turn is an issue for all of us working in vital sectors. Pisses me off.

My respect to you for keeping up the good work. I'm one of the lucky people who can do their job from home (being in IT), for which I'm very grateful. I hope that you can stay healthy, despite of all the people fooling around at the moment.

Personally, I couldn't care less what numbers countries like China and Russia report... I would be surprised if they didn't lie.

Have you heard anybody get worse tinnitus from this virus or some other flu though?
No. But for many here, a normal flu caused temporary spikes (that sometimes lasted for quite a while). Not sure if somebody has got a permanent spike, but there certainly is the possibility.

They have implemented the same scheme here in the UK. However, it's utter anarchy and I have no idea why people are doing this. It needs to stop.

Here are two pictures outside a supermarket - during the golden hour - in a town near me:

It's been reported that people were fighting to get inside.

This was setup as a way to help the most vulnerable and yet, if anything, it's become an excellent way to spread the virus whilst they are around.

People need to stop being so selfish. I haven't left my house now for 10 days which means I haven't earned a penny. I'm not loaded and I need money to survive, but I am able to see that putting the lives of others first is significantly more important.

Wow, I mean, I'm probably not the brightest bulb out there, but man stupidity is really working against humanity here.

One of my concerns is for those with other illness and comprised older individuals (non virus) that may not seek medical attention due to virus fear or may not get full medical care if they visit a high patient hospital. I do not use the term expired, but passed away figures from this may become much higher than the nom and I'm also afraid that numbers will be unheard stats as health officials will bury analyzation.

I'm also concerned for those with pain, as they may not seek help. ER waiting times in hospitals in my area are often many hours and now they are longer than long. Many waiting rooms are small and even with a mask, tension can rise. Hospitals in my area including trauma level I - are also running out of masks.

Everything is being shut down in my area - including therapy and dental offices. If and when this virus is no longer a threat, it may be months before someone can get a medical appointment.

@Bndsmheowqhe you haven't posted since Thursday, where's your thinking at?

Exactly a week ago you pointed out the US fatalities were under 50, then a few days later were using a 0.1% figure for Germany based on, as far as I could tell, a single analysis from an economic blog.

As of today, US fatalities will clearly cross 500 soon, probably overnight, and we're also seeing that the edge cases are much weirder than the flu, like this 39 year old who basically felt like she had a moderate shitty flu until she died very rapidly. Germany has 92 cases to 266 documented recovered, with 23,000 active so that makes predicting whether they're going to fall closer to Wuhan or Italy pretty hard to predict, and the data coming out of China may well be total BS too

Of course we're going to read about the weirder, more severe cases with more frequency than we'll read about routine cases, or cases where 83 year olds with risk factors die.

This ain't the flu, though. This is a novel coronavirus which appears to have already become endemic in the global population and is going to stick around for a long time; a rapid vaccine seems pretty unlikely to me any time soon.

Note: I'm not trying to pick a fight with you. You have emerged as the strongest "not that big a deal" voice here, so I am curious where your thinking and behavior is now.

hot air cools down too fast to ever reach your lungs

Hi @FGG -- Thanks for the information you posted. Wanted to mention that I found a longer version of the "hot air" video I posted earlier, this one being 17 minutes long. I've only watched half of it, and again, I think it's really good. But I paused watching when I ran across something that really gave me a deeper appreciation for the perspective I've mostly adhered to, and it has to do with prevention. -- This is what was said at the 8:00 to 8:17 mark, only 17 seconds. I wish I'd have run across this much earlier:

"The initial upper respiratory infection ALWAYS starts in the nose and sinuses. And usually lingers there for two days to as long as two weeks before progressing. And it is here--within the sinuses--that the invading virus is most easily defeated...by applying external heat."

I happen to think that the Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method, and the Sinus Cleanse using iodine drops I mentioned earlier would likely be equally effective. But if not, it would seem they would at least augment the external heat therapy. For convenience, I'll go ahead and repost the links to them:

Learn the Right Way To Do Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method for Viruses, COPD, Congestion

We have no access to hospitals here

@Daniel Lion, and others who think in terms of possible hospitalization: -- Just thought I'd mention that I asked my wife last night how much interest she'd have in going to the hospital if we were to get the coronavirus. Without pausing for even a moment, she said something like, "Oh, no". I was quite relieved, because I'd already determined there was NO way I was going to the hospital under any circumstances.

I figure the only we'd get infected is if our local area got heavily infected. If that were the case, I assume most would be heading for the hospital, putting even heavier burdens on the health care workers and the entire system in general. Being in that environment would expose me to all the chaos, fear, pandemonium, etc. that one would expect. -- Plus, it would take me away from the things I know I can do for myself by staying at home: 1) Staying calm; 2) Staying focused; 3) Doing healing sulfur hot springs type baths in my own bathtub (with sodium thiosulfate); Sodium Thiosulfate — "May" Help w/ Hearing Loss and/or Tinnitus; 4) Doing energy balancing and visualization techniques, etc. I'm also fortunate to have a home HBOT chamber. There's much more I could list...

Out of necessity, I've been studying and researching just about every kind of alternative/natural approach to health and healing for several decades. In that process, I've come up with a LOT different health care philosophy(s) than what are normally promulgated by mainstream medicine, including for situations like a pandemic. They think almost exclusively in terms of drugs and vaccines. I think that's mostly self-defeating, especially during this time of urgency (not to mention it being hugely expensive). And, it seems to be contrary to focusing on doing the kinds of simple things that I feel can probably effectively protect most people.

Absolutely no offense meant but I would be scared shitless if your kind of thinking was the mainstream thinking.

Much of the stuff you advocate for is PLACEBO and would end up killing tons more people than conventional medicine.

How did you build this, how much did it cost? Can everyone do it?

Hi @FGG -- Thanks for the information you posted. Wanted to mention that I found a longer version of the "hot air" video I posted earlier, this one being 17 minutes long. I've only watched half of it, and again, I think it's really good. But I paused watching when I ran across something that really gave me a deeper appreciation for the perspective I've mostly adhered to, and it has to do with prevention. -- This is what was said at the 8:00 to 8:17 mark, only 17 seconds. But I wish I'd have run across this much earlier:

"The initial upper respiratory infection ALWAYS starts in the nose and sinuses. And usually lingers there for two days to as long as two weeks before progressing. And it is here--within the sinuses--that the invading virus is most easily defeated...by applying external heat."

I happen to think that the Hydrogen Peroxide Inhalation Method, and the Sinus Cleanse using iodine drops I mentioned earlier would likely be equally effective. But if not, it would seem they would at least augment the external heat therapy. For convenience, I'll go ahead and repost the links to them:

@Daniel Lion, and others who think in terms of possible hospitalization: -- Just thought I'd mention that I asked my wife last night how much interest she'd have in going to the hospital if we were to get the coronavirus. Without pausing for even a moment, she said something like, "Oh, no". I was quite relieved, because I'd already determined there was NO way I was going to the hospital under any circumstances.

Thanks Lane... I definitely practice holistic approaches to pain, hearing loss, relentless loud tinnitus and a few other goodies everyday. I am not very mellow, so burning stress and pain and negativity always starts with exercise for me. I have regained so much post accident and am in a positive space. I appreciate your views about balance, nutrition, and spirituality, I embrace these everyday.

Hospitals and the Coronavirus.

For me... hospitals are where you go when your lungs are failing from pneumonia and an individual can be assisted with breathing through a respiratory apparatus, supplementing oxygen. Perhaps a drip with antibiotics if the pneumonia has manifested into something treatable with antibiotics. Hospitals, for me, are where you go when death is knocking.
We don't really have that here in Laos in a meaningful way, never did, ....Thats all I was saying.
