Cause of Tinnitus
Noise Exposure (Headphones)
9 hours on the road. About pretty much all of it on the interstate. I assume ear plugs? Any other advice? Any kind of earplugs that would be best? Recommendations for a certain amount of NRR?

I wouldn't use ear plugs in the car but that's just my opinion. Have been on lots of road trips since the onset of T & haven't had any problems.

If you have the money to spare, the Bose noise cancelling works pretty well. They cancel out more low frequencies like those generated by engines and road noise. I use the QC20 ear buds (no music) when my ears start to become irritated in the car. They work pretty well for me.

Would you mind giving an amazon link?

249 dollars? I will have to pass. Surely there is a music-less option that would be good. I was thinking of getting eargasm brand but only 16db reduction? Seems kind of disappointing.

I drive a lot for my job and have never had an a permanent spike from driving. Unless you have an unusually loud car, the DB levels in your car are very unlikely to cause an acoustic trauma. Last I measured in my car it was max around 65DB, but normally under 60DB.

You might get a temporary spike from anxiety, or being tired from the long drive.

I am a passenger. 9 hours in a day. Not split up aside from obvious stretch/bathroom/lunch breaks. And of course return trip in a few days. Which will be another 9 hours.
I have taken many road trips since losing my hearing. Usually about seven hours of driving in a day. I have not noticed much difference between using earplugs versus ear muffs. However, I very rarely wear them in the car. It's really not that loud. There are a lot of factors, like the vehicle tires and the road condition, but not bad. It's nothing like attending a loud concert.

I do alot of driving around my town, but been on long drives. I will recommend not to have the window all the way open with your ears next to, I did have a short spike, but it was temporary. I do have my radio on low and enjoy my rides.

Although they're expensive, my Bose nose noise cancelling headphones do an amazing job of eliminating road noise. I only use them on long drives.
