How and Why Did You Choose Your Username?

What would you choose if you had another chance, Tanni, and I promise any time I see you post in future I will imagine that name instead :D

Haha, thanks Ed! :) I think I would have chosen Tallulah - it's similar-ish to my first name and would be named for my idol Ms Bankhead. Ah well, next time :)

I have always called myself ´xxx´underscore-biff on the web, with the ´x´ to underline the relevance of what am about.
My tinnitus has a grating feel to it, so there you go...

Oh...for Tinnitus Talk I chose StarThrower after reading the story below.

Years ago my husband and I worked so hard to create a grant foundation established in my friend's name.
People would say why? What difference will it make when so much is needed to provide people with medical help.

At the time I was over come with grief and guilt and shame and blame for the suicide of my friend. The one way I could make sense of my experience with him and his pain and my pain was to keep trying because it does make a difference for a least one person.

I remember getting thank you cards from grant receivers. One was from a man who barely spoke or wrote English.
He said he was able to get a job because he got hearing aids and could feed his family. I still cry when I recall this.

So the story goes:

The Star Thrower

A man was walking on the beach one day and noticed a boy who was reaching down, picking up a starfish and throwing it in the ocean. As he approached, he called out, "Hello! What are you doing?" The boy looked up and said, "I'm throwing starfish into the ocean". "Why are you throwing starfish into the ocean?" asked the man. "The tide stranded them. If I don't throw them in the water before the sun comes up, they'll die" came the answer. "Surely you realize that there are miles of beach, and thousands of starfish. You'll never throw them all back, there are too many. You can't possibly make a difference." The boy listened politely, then picked up another starfish. As he threw it back into the sea, he said, "It made a difference for that one."

Beautiful story... Beautiful name Starthrower…. you have a wonderful kind heart my friend. Keep shinning!

I love this, thank-you for sharing the story with us @Starthrower.:huganimation:

My dream is hurting. I think that's why I chose my username lol.

Once Upon A Time was my favorite tv show! I always thought Mr. Gold/Rumpelstiltskin was sexy :D

I don't even know. To be honest, when I joined I didn't expect to stick around. I had joined within days of getting tinnitus and held on to hope that it would go away in which case I wouldn't likely post here anymore. Looking at how long I've been here you probably know the result.

Amazing! His character was perfect... A much older man than both of us but so stinkin sexy!:LOL: :wideyed:
(Did I say that loud?)..lol. That's why Belle was all over him... LOL:p :arghh:
Gotta go back and watch it again...helps me forget tinnitus! hahahaha….:p
I believe it is still on Netflix.

I highly recommend Lost as well. It was the first show I never binged watched more than once. To me it was the first TV series that felt more like a movie.
Well, I shall watch it now since it is highly recommended. If it is not on Netflix, I can get it at my local Library...
But then I'll be bothering you and @emmalee … asking you questions...lol...

@OnceUponaTime - this enquiry is a brilliant idea for a thread, which has members opening up and talking.
I sometimes think that chit chat and banter is in short supply on here, which is a shame because that is how we learn so much more about each other. It can give a glimpse behind the persona.

@Starthrower - I have always wondered where your name came from - what a wonderful story about a kind little boy. A beautiful spirit.

Having repeated my sad story, and of course every single one of us has a sad story to tell, I would just like to add that, even though I have had to accept this sad outcome, I truly believe that we must all determine to get something out of everyday of our lives.
Of course, we have to cope with noise, frustration, and disappointment; but we can make an effort to fill the rest of our lives up with some lovely people, good company, good conversation, walks, ....er....pussycats, doggies, art, literature, meditation, nice situations, and....er.....more pussycats.
I will not settle for the 'doldrums.'

You know me Jaz...I'm a social butterfly! And yes, you are right... we come here and talk about tinnitus only, but there's so much more we can talk about to distract us...get to know each other... I love @Ed209 story...(though now I'm afraid of that robot...lol) @Starthrower is just beautiful... @hurtingdream tells it how it is... @another sean ...well...he's another Sean... and then there's @JohnAdams...who I literally thought his name was John... LOL… But there's some story behind a screenname...always.

I was about to pull you into my thread to tell you that I knew exactly why you picked your screenname... and then you showed up here! Go figure!

I am also very visual.. I'd love to see every ones pictures...put a face to the person. But I understand a lot of people prefer their privacy or are to shy to share.

Once... (always stirring up something...bahahaha :LOL::ROFL:)
