.. we come here and talk about tinnitus only, but there's so much more we can talk about to distract us...get to know each other..

So many seem only interested in research news, which I find pretty boring.
If there is anything approaching a treatment or a cure it will be on the national news channels.
We won't need to scour the scientific papers for it.
Having grown up in an isolating family, with such a desperately sad sick mother, I became very schizoid, and needed some years of therapy to get myself up and running.
Now you can't shut me up - Hahaha.
I can't help it - I'm one of life's natterers.
I have of course noticed that the lighter distracting threads draw less traffic, but I plod on - loving art, poetry and prose.

Me too! lol... I mean I like to know what's going on but I'm not going to dwell on it and keep beating a dead horse! lol..

I hang out on another forum where there's much more positive vibe and fun...that compensates...lol (Its not a tinnitus forum) But I like this community very much and I try to bring a spark to it! If I can!

I think Jazzer for some of us science, research, or discussing facts is a bit like what art and drawing is to others. For me anyway. Even when I realised how bad much of the scientific literature is. Science is all we have. It isn't wise to hang your hopes on scientific advancement with something like tinnitus, as medicine has a very poor record for advancing treatments with anything neurological. But I still want to know the whys and wherefores of tinnitus, like I do with everything in life. Why does it bother some more than others at the same MML? What medicines can precipitate the condition? What's the rate of spontaneous remission? Why is it so often unilateral? It's a sort of distraction from the noise or channeling of the frustration round the condition for me, some, in the way that other things are for you.

Starthrower you win the thread. Was it you who said recently on this forum, kindness isn't just a virtue, it is THE virtue? So true.

There are so many wonderful and talented people in this forum. We each bring something different, variety to the forum and make it a wonderful place for all... I like to see some members so passionate about research! Really...and others so passionate about encouraging and supporting others.... and others just really funny, happy people sharing those memes we all enjoy to see... hahaha.

Hi folks... @OnceUponaTime you're beautiful... truly.
OK, having said that... first forum for me, and first forum name.
Daniel is my first name.
Lion, as in the story from the book of Daniel and I think I have the heart of a lion.
Lions are strong but also soft and cuddly... potentially.
See you around folks.
Wishing everybody a quieter and good day.

Thank you Daniel!
Ha, always thought that you were Spanish and your name was Daniel Leon and you just changed it to English! hahaha, shows how the mind plays a little....lol
(I've heard that name in Spanish a gazillion times)

Thank you for your well wishes...I need a quiet day for a change!

I never watched the film - I heard it was bad - this book would definitely never work as a film!
Hahaha I thought it was me!! I couldn't wrap my head around it to save my life... it was confusing to say the least.

@emmalee

I have lost a whole world of jazz connections, musos, jazz fans, fixers etc...that I met on a nightly basis of course, so I am always looking for other close connections.
Don't get me wrong, I am lucky enough to be surrounded by a most adorable family, so lucky, but with this condition I truly believe that informed human contact is actually a life saver also, particularly as there is inside experience of what we are each going through.

The science of this condition, though interesting, does not touch me on a personal level.
But the arts - 'WOW' - can reduce me to tears of warmth, gratitude, and encouragement through insight.
Our content says so much about us.
