I Don't Know What to Do — Can I Still Use My Gaming Headset?

Hi, I have has tinnitus for the last 2 weeks and I'm just lost. I'm 13 going on 14, I don't know what to do. I don't have anyone to talk to I feel so helpless like there is nothing i can do to get this noise out of my ear. I try to ignore it but that just makes it louder.

I really enjoy playing video games and I don't want to stop playing them.

Is there a way I can still play video games with my headset, I just need some answers. Thank you for your time.

for now I would not use your headset and get your doctor check your ears for wax or fluid and a hearing test.
Keep soft music on or a fan and us know how you get on with the doctor.

Continue using that headset, and you would be taking a risk that your T will not go away or even get louder. It is not certain that this will happen, but the probability of it happening is not negligible. The (possibly louder) sound might stay with you for the rest of your life. Is it really worth it, is it a risk worth taking?

Give your ears a rest and go see a doctor. Internet "doctors" rarely have any credentials, so take the internet advice (including mine) with a grain of salt.

There's always the chance your headset gave you the tinnitus. Continued use may make it worse.

Alright, when I went to the doctor they said there is no fluid and it is because hearing loss but they are not sure yet. My ears pop a lot whenever I chew I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not, ill stop using my headset thank you

Being that you're young, it must be hard to give up a headset or even headphones for that matter but please trust that you're doing yourself a huge favor now.
If only someone told me what earphones would do to my ears

Playing video game were my passion and the thing I did all the time and giving up my headphones seems so difficult but if it means my hearing and keeping atleast some sanity I quess its what needs to be done, I have another doctors apointment in 6 months which seems like along time I quess I need to find something else to do ;-;

I know what you're going through. I to play video games as well. BF3, BF1, Forza, Fortnite and I stopped using a headset and its a bummer because I can't talk to my team mates. so I get it. But trust us on this one and try not use them for now. T can be life long if you are not careful and its not worth it right now. Maybe play some games where there is text chat. Thats what I do in BF1. And yeah, its blows having to T-bag all the time in Fortnite to get peoples attention, but it works for now. So hang in there until your T goes away. Its only been 2 weeks and you still have plenty of time for it to possibly go away. Thats the good news.

Don't know what you're gaming on, but I set the mic up to where I can talk into it and config all audio output through the tv (at a reasonably low volume). Works well and I still get to chill with my pals online

After some months with tinnitus, I decided to try using headsets for gaming music again ... Even if I tried to keep the volume low I still made my tinnitus worse. There's too much shooting and stuff going in gaming that can make your tinnitus worse (I hate myself)

You don't need a headset to play video games.
But I assume you mean multiplayer games that you play with friends, like Fortnite, Overwatch, etc.

You can even play these too without a headset. Trade in your headset for a mic. If you use a pc for gaming I'll even walk you through how to set it up to reduce/eliminate echo.

Alternatively, you can try wearing them on your neck and see if that's acceptable, otherwise keep em off.
