I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

First of all I want to say that since getting tinnitus I'm kind of paranoid toward sound therapies with weird sounds and stuff like that but I decided to give Tinnitus Mix a go after reading most of the posts made here.

After listening to this ''screeching'' Tinnitus Mix (actually reminded me a bit of the video tape on ''The Ring'') for 1 hour and 15 minutes it feels like my brain is creating something like a filter for tinnitus. Even with my earplugs the sound is extremely hard to pick up.

At the start it felt unpleasant but after 1 hour and 15 minutes of listening to it I felt kind of relaxed. Also during the time of listening to this I got some weird stabbing sensations in my tinnitus ear (not painful or anything), I don't know if they mean something.

One last thing worth pointing out is that I didn't use headphones (stashed all of them away around the time I got tinnitus due to horror stories I've read here), but speakers.

It's been around 2 hours since I listened to the audio file, I don't know if residual inhibition still applies or not but my tinnitus is still lower than what it was before. I'm going to start using this when I go to sleep as well and report back.

OK, my tinnitus is back after 3 hours of being pretty much gone (felt like there was a filter/wall and tinnitus was behind it). Not sure if it's the same as before or lower in volume.
Right ear feels kind of weird, warm on the inside and tingly at times.
Maybe I'm just imagining everything, who knows.

Going to keep listening to the Tinnitus Mix every night and see what happens.

My tinnitus is reactive... so it probably isn't a good idea to try this, right?
Well, it's worth a try but we think that the ones that get a temporary spike from sound therapy may be because they have reactive tinnitus, we are not yet prepared to say it won't help reactive tinnitus, just that you should start on very low during the day for a few hours and if you get a spike you should back off.

This works for about 50% of those that follow instructions, which includes using the Koss KTX-PRO1 headphones. People just don't believe they have to use them and try other headphones and that is not following instructions. I believe the titanium drivers and coil size have something to do with why the Koss work and others do not.

How can this be any better (or different) than all the other sound therapies like TRT which are only trying to promote habituation? I guess this is also a question for @R. David Case.
Well the device I made that made these sounds has never existed before and is technically a hybrid oscillator / thermal transducer (receiver) that picked up true random thermal noise from the universe. So the wave forms and pulses are arranged and mixed in such a way that is unpredictable, tinnitus has a feedback loop in its structure, so constant sounds (repetitive cycles like bells, beeps, engines, etc) like in daily life can PROMOTE tinnitus, when the user plays Tinnitus Mix these fast changing wave forms confuse or break the feedback loop.

Think of a singer on stage and when the mic gets too close to the speakers a loud squeal will occur, if the singer introduces sound into the mic it breaks the feedback loop and the squeal stops.

That is great, but you really should follow instructions!!! If you play around with Tinnitus Mix, use it off and on, the tinnitus will try to reform and may try to get louder. You should use the Koss KTX-PRO1 headphones every night all night for 3 weeks to break the tinnitus. Then cut back to once or twice a week as maintenance.

Tinnitus Mix works faster when you are sleeping, the brain concentrates on the sounds and is not distracted.

Ok, I did it. Sleeping with headphones on sucks and it was not easy to fall asleep to it. No change for better or worse but I wasn't expecting anything from just 1 night. I'm going to remix the sound file to start out with rain sounds and gradually fade into the screech and loop it for 8 hours and post a dropbox link with it. That should make it easier to work with and fall asleep to.

I wanted to give Tinnitus Mix a try and downloaded it. I just gave it a quick listen. But I don't know. This sounds like coming directly out of hell. More like a sound to get tinnitus. I'm a bit scared now.

Did you use the Koss headphones? I think I may start to use this as well... desperate lol.

I thought headphones were a big no no, according to many on this site. Wouldn't this just fail right off the bat because of this.
Yeah, I'm even a huge headphone no-no goon. But for this I think it is worth the risk because it is for a potential reduction in tinnitus and not just for entertainment. We walk a tightrope.

Slept with Tinnitus Mix for like 8-9 hours or at least I tried. Woke up like 10 times adjusting the volume.

I was wrong about the sound being pleasant after a while, sleeping with it is hard for now. Hard enough to make me clench my jaw while sleeping and finding myself with some pain in the morning.

All that aside my tinnitus is the quietest it has ever been today. I was in a room at around 20-25 dB (pretty much my definition of silence before getting tinnitus) and could not hear it at all unless I plugged my ears, still the sound is just a fracture of what it used to be.

I don't know if it's an actual reduction in volume or my brain becoming numb to the tinnitus sound after listening to those hellish sounds all night.

Whatever the case it's actually doing something good for me and I'm going to keep using it to see where it leads me.

That's a good idea, you can lower the volume also.

Damned if we do, damned if we don't. Hope all goes well for you. Hopefully this actually works man... How loud do you have the headphones btw? Can you still hold a conversational with someone?
You should start out at very low volume during the day for a few hours, if no problems, then play all night every night for 3 weeks. We are having more success in the Facebook test group, we have over 2,200 members but they are all scared to try it, I think maybe 25-30 have tried it. If I could break through somehow and get them all to try Tinnitus Mix I believe I could eliminate tinnitus in 500,000 people worldwide in a short time.

Here is a recent testimony from the group:

I know many have been told not to use headphones, but Tinnitus Mix with the Koss KTX-PRO1 will help hearing loss. I have been using Tinnitus Mix with the Koss for 18 years and my hearing range has come back and others in test group say their doctors told them they have had hearing improvements and told them to continue Tinnitus Mix therapy.

It takes a week to get used to the sounds, lower the volume if you have trouble tolerating the sounds.

You really should get the Koss KTX-PRO1 headphones, nobody wants to believe one set of headphones works better than another but time after time this occurs, READ PLEASE and follow the instructions.

Has anyone tried earbuds instead of Koss headphones listening to your Tinnitus Mix? It seems hard to keep the headphones on when you are a side sleeper.

I wonder if anyone's tinnitus on this green earth sounds as awful as Tinnitus Mix. It's a harsh sound!

But your explanation for why is ridiculous, plus you already told me my headphones would be okay.
Well you can try them but you will get better results with Koss KTX-PRO1, here is a post today again saying they tried other headphones, and then the Koss and the latter work much better with this therapy.
