I Invented a Sound That Knocked Out My Tinnitus

You said "nothing" yet you have no clue what effect these will have. I'm just saying you don't know therefore you cannot state factually that "nothing" cures tinnitus.
Does anyone have a clue if these will work? Right now, Jan. 1, 2020... please list any cures for tinnitus.
Maybe I'm not keeping up. I've seen many prospective solutions, so I'm tired of the disappointments spanning 20 years.

Again, I hope you are right and I am wrong... and if you are right, I hope it doesn't take another two decades.

I said, "Nothing cures tinnitus, and time may make it better... that's it folks."
A minor remark about this statement: not to accuse you of lying or something, but simply because I hear this way too much in my country and I see it misinforms a lot of people who might be able to get help if properly informed. Tinnitus is a symptom, not a disease. When the underlying problem is fixed, tinnitus will disappear. In that matter, it is a simple way of cause and effect.

The true issue lies in diagnosing and treating the underlying problem itself. Most of the tinnitus cases are caused by hearing loss, and since hearing loss is currently untreatable (ignoring experimental treatments for the case of argument), it is valid to say this can't be fixed until a proper treatment is found. However, for the other cases of tinnitus, a treatment could already exist. This requires thorough diagnosis to discover the actual cause first, but simply saying "tinnitus means no cure" can be quite harmful for patients who could actually be helped.

Sorry if I'm responding a bit sensitive to this, but both my ENT and audiologist tried to pull this statement on me, and it is simply not true. Hearing loss is untreatable, but tinnitus can still have options, depending on the origin.

I agree....hopefully if someone knows how to fix their underlying cause they will.

I never said, "tinnitus means no cure."

There's a huge difference in saying that "nothing cures tinnitus," in the context of talking about experimental hearing loss drugs and reality in the current time....and "NEVER."

My tinnitus went away the first time around without drugs....it took time.

The context was about fixing hearing loss, and there is no "known" cure....sure things may seem promising to some....but I'm cynical.

Has time not made your tinnitus better?
Time hasn't, but physio has. Since I'm one of those other cases, I count myself lucky.

Hold on to hope. Even though the current research seems to move with baby steps, there ís progress. Both the mind and ears are getting figured out more every year, a fix will be found eventually.

Unless global warming finishes us first... but on the bright side, that would get rid of the problem too ;)

Global warming... scientists getting endless grants to research and nothing will ever solved it since it's always been there. Politicians get rich off lecturing us how bad things will be.

Sad, really.

I have tinnitus without hearing loss. I just had an ear infection one day. Took antibiotics and after the fullness in my ear went away, I got tinnitus. Once in a while I'll hear my tinnitus spike but a few seconds later it goes back to where it was. My non tinnitus ear sometimes rings for a few seconds but then stops. I might try notched music therapy. If I'm supposed to notice results after a few days with the Tinnitus Mix then it's not working for me :-(.

Uh, the people that have had it. The researchers. Just because something hasn't been publicly disclosed doesn't mean that it is not in existence. Therefore, you cannot be 100% sure that it doesn't. You might be right, but you also might be wrong.

It's not the sound file that is insane.
So I invent Tinnitus Mix that stops my tinnitus, give it out to people to help them and 600 people say it reduced or eliminated their tinnitus and you call me crazy! I am just trying to help people, you should do the same.

This. This is all technology, not just medicine. Fuel cells were working in a lab 100 years before they had commercial release. Not that this is going to take a 100 years (way too much public demand) but all effective medical treatments start out as being inaccessible while awaiting clinical trial.

Gilead was sitting on a cure for Hep C years before its release. That's just how it works.

It also helped me! I am sorry for the people who tried it but did not help. Just move on, try something else... I tried LLLT, hyperbaric oxygen therapy, acupuncture, hypnotherapy etc... costed me thousands... This is how it works with tinnitus, for some it might work, for some not...

The inventor of a tinnitus therapy which works for everybody will be given a Noble prize...

Do not attack the inventor who took the time and effort to provide free sound therapy for everybody...

The delivery took a while, but today I finally got the Koss headset. Just a heads up, I can modulate my tinnitus through my neck and jaw, so this may or may not work for me, because I got some form of somatic tinnitus.

80-90% of tinnitus sufferers can modulate their tinnitus by those movements.

But can they create static noise by stretching the neck muscle and tapping on it? I can literally modulate with pushing my head down, backwards and forwards. By stretching and tapping and bending forward creates spikes. Can even modulate different type of tones.

After getting the Koss headset I think it is best to start with a really low volume. After getting used to the sounds... gradually increase the volume.

When did you start seeing results? Even though I don't think this treatment is helping me, I still will stick with it for the rest of January.

Thank you for your kind words, and I am so happy you are getting relief from my Tinnitus Mix. I wish it worked for 100% of the people but nothing ever does. If we could figure out why it works for 50% of the people we may be able to increase that to 80 or 90% someday.

Lol every time I yawn it's like a louder fire alarm. I push my tongue to the roof of my mouth... a crescendo.

I'm listening to the Tinnitus Mix right now since it is morning and tinnitus is louder. I have used this for over a month and I am one of the lucky ones... typical... no results for me. My hyperacusis is still really bad.

Tinnitus is such a weird condition. And how do you sleep at night (back/belly/sideways)? Because you say your tinnitus is louder in the morning, I only get that when I'm sleeping sideways. On my back and in a neutral position does wonders for me.

I'm also guessing this won't work for me, but i'll be 100% sure within a month.

Because of my bad back, I need to shift a lot... I can't really sleep flat on back.
I bought a small MP3/wav player. I tuck that in my T-shirt front pocket. I use a think ear muff wrap over my ears, then the headset then a knot cap over that.

A softer pillow is a must... my normal pillow is a memory foam and was too hard and jammed the plastic earpieces into my head.

I wish everyone more luck than I have had.

That sucks. I would say if anything, this mix has helped improve my hyperacusis more than anything else, to the point I feel it's largely diminished (touch wood) and that's not even with headphones. But it was already recovering slowly prior to using it, after years of hell living with it. If you're still in the acute phase of H, then maybe it's a different situation. I still get some reactive tinnitus days, where it's not pleasant to listen to it, so I don't.

I had a long stretch of low stable T and, earlier this week, a few super quiet, almost non-existent tinnitus days. I'm in a bit of a hole with a multi-day spike now that I think is connected to sleep, because I've been sleeping terribly. I feel a lot of relief with my hyperacusis largely gone now. I just wish the tinnitus would stay chilled.

Yeah. I'm stopping. Yesterday I actually was a fool and thought things may get better and then today has been painful all day.

I did the Mix for 5 weeks, and many days for 16 hours a day.
I'm not even going to attempt masking anymore, seems pointless.

Hyperacusis same or worse, ear pain same or worse... tinnitus, same... no change.

Now I will wait to for an appointment to the Lenire "goat rope" of travel to Ireland, and that'll probably be a bust too.

Apologies if I already asked this before (hard to keep track), but is it possible that your bad back is contributing to the severeness of your tinnitus? It's rare, but I seem to recall reading about a few cases where tinnitus was eliminated after some nerve in the back was disabled.

Not saying that you should cut nerves left and right, but might be worth it to investigate.

Unfortunately no, thank you though.

Resolved tinnitus... back injury... MRI... screaming tinnitus... the back injury predates the new tinnitus by one month. Hey but my back is better... I'd gladly go back to a slipped disk if I could trade it for this tinnitus.

It's been three days and this seems to have completely knocked out one out of the three "channels" which my tinnitus exists on. This was a constant 15 kHz sound. It began to "shimmer" after 2 days and has now been eliminated or reduced below the level of my other loud symptom. This is the sensation that you get when you just get out of a pool, it's not a specific frequency and isn't possible to mask or replicate. My third symptom is a high 15.5 kHz sine which isn't constant but more irregular, like raindrops, and that has slightly dulled. I will continue to apply the mix and report on progress.

David Case has said this isn't a masking tool. Did you follow their instructions and play the sound in your sleep, below the level of your tinnitus, using the model of headphones specified?

I did the nights exactly as instructed for a month, plus I would wear it around the house little louder, but still below my tinnitus (because mine is severe) for 16 hours a day (off work for back injury).

It's an interesting sound file, but not magical for me, sadly.

How bad was your tinnitus?

Sorry to hear. It interests me, because I've worked with digital audio a lot and wonder if alternative mixes can be developed/tailored for those that Tinnitus Mix doesn't work for. The instruments (if you can call them that) seem to interrogate the tinnitus symptoms and bury them by provoking confusion in the brain, or at least that's my impression. In my case the 15 kHz noise was noticeable in a city street or on the bus.

I've been thinking the same thing, but I haven't made it through a whole night with it a decent volume, so I don't yet know if it works for me as is.
