Cause of Tinnitus
guess
Tried NAC for first time today. Am now having the worst tinnitus in four months. Could be unrelated but now I will never take it again.

Is your tinnitus noise induced?

It's good for prevention I think but even then the studies they did used high amounts.
I think overall it has many benefits I take 1200 mg a day.
Don't see how it can make tinnitus worse.

Antioxidants will help with eyesight a lot more than ears if you spend a lot of time in from of PC and such then yes it helps.
My eyesight is super sharp now that take all these powerful antioxidants, not only NAC.

If it happened right after you took the NAC, I woud say stop taking it at least for now. By the way, how did the Ativan detox go?

Haven't done detox. Will taper at home later. It didn't happen immediately after.
Thank you for all the replies and information. I took a tiny bit of the powder form NAC. I'm not on meds. It probably wasn't that.

I'm on NAC also and it hasn't had a positive or negative effect on me.Only positive I've had is similar to Bobby and that's my eyesight has become a lot sharper since taking it but no affect on my ears at all.

I use NAC for my stress/burn out which probaply caused my tinnitus, i also use glutamine and glucosamine for the same reason, it helps me getting less stress, when i have less stress i have less tinnitus, it doesn`t make it worse, it helps me a bit!

I took a pill of n-acetylcysteine yesterday and I still have the craziest high-pitched ringing today. Could NAC be a culprit in making it like this? I also have to add that I was/am battling a cold at the moment.

I'm taking 1200/2400 mg of NAC these days along with other anti ox supplements and a lot of magnesium trying to battle a spike and I noticed my T becoming LOUD along with dizziness and vertigo.
Still not sure what triggered this but it's kinda scary.

I took magnesium before and it gave me a crazy spike. I am noticing the same with NAC. So I guess what helps a lot of other people does not help me!

As I stated before, I also took two other medications (a painkiller and echinacea). So I am not sure if NAC was the culprit, but I have some suspicions.

OH the Nac must have released histamine. Peppers, fruit, and spices made my ear loud until I got on some good allergy medicine. And all those histamine symptoms stopped. The tinnitus went down a lot, I could probably try Nac again.

Experiencing a scary increase in sound. 3 possible culprits
1. Dropped toilet seat - loud noise but subsided after 10 min
2. Took NAC 1200 shortly after (it was the first time ever)
3. Did physical therapy especially for neck

Woke up at 5am with a very lound tinnitus 9/10

I believe its the nac- did your subside or was it permanent

It went away. Could definitely be all 3, and all will go down.

I agree. I no longer use reading glasses and my eye sight is razor sharp. Now if I could just do something about this huge long floater in one eye and sensitivity to light (both pre NAC).
Never had any affect on T, but some effervescent NAC can contain aspartame.
