Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Big week for those of you going in for your appointments!

Lenire treatments start this week!

Yes, I know they said they want to give people a week to decide if they want to do the treatment or not, but I am pretty sure those that are going have made up their minds already.

Got a call from our Irish friends this afternoon and I'm booked in for an assessment on July 9th. They did have earlier slots available, but I was being picky regarding days / times to keep my travel costs down.

View attachment 30348There will be those for whom this doesn't work or barely works--but that doesn't invalidate the experiences of those for whom it has helped or will dramatically help
Also, I'd like to add that I wouldn't read too much into percentages (i.e. 'My tinnitus reduced about 10%' or 'I could only hear it about 85% of the time' and 'I am down 25%').
I think numbers like these are meaningless because as much as we've all obsessed over our hearing / tinnitus there's no concrete way of documenting the noise in a way that's measurable aside from gauging level of discomfort. Also, hearing loss doesn't always correlate to the intensity of the tinnitus as we've also seen people who have perfect hearing with no loss still experience tinnitus.

I guess time will tell what the outcomes are, but I think if someone says their tinnitus has become less intrusive in their life, we gotta run with that :)

Hoping that I get a call soon, I applied immediately on the day the email came through. :(

That one makes me optimistic. She got tinnitus overnight like me. Now she says she's cured.

I think for mild cases these bimodal stimulation devices will knock it out for us. If you can only hear your tinnitus in quiet rooms I believe Lenire will eliminate it. I can only hear mine when I go to bed at night or when I'm in a quiet room.

For severe sufferers that can hear theirs over the freeway I think they're only going to see a reduction. Which is still great.

Perhaps improvements to these devices will come later down the road to allow even greater levels of reduction.

Are they open for treatment or something? Have not been following this closely.

I will travel to the end of the world so flying to Ireland is a non issue if that's needed?

Interesting, where can I find that form?

It's the only clinic so far, but I think Germany will be next. I have contacted them before and they told me they are not checking residency if you want to fly out there (though they also stated they don't encourage it either). They are also working on FDA approval.

BTW, the image of the headphones on that page makes it look like they are wired rather than Bluetooth.

They called me today but didn't give me any info about where and when next, as I asked about the UK.

In any case it has dawned on me that it will take a while to train other audiologists and they have the best knowledge in-house at the moment.

So far two people have booked as far as I can see on this thread... Getting myself organised with dates.

Unfortunately I think those are still the same Bluetooth headphones (you can see the on off button). It would've made more sense to me to go with wired, but there could have been some reasoning behind it (avoiding tangling with the tongue clip).

Really? To me it's obvious it's only one wire...

Did anyone from outside English speaking countries get a call from Neuromod? So far it seems only people from Ireland, UK and USA (not sure about this though) got a call. I'm from Poland and registered 3 hours after I got the e-mail on Wednesday, 2 weeks ago, and still no contact from Neuromod.

Same here. Registered 3 hours after the e-mail, didn't get a call yet.

Yes, but the thing is that it must have been bad enough to make her seek treatment. I know that we've been let down in the past but let's not be so pessimistic here.

I wouldn't get too concerned TBH. You'll get a call over the next day or so, I'm sure.

Hopefully people who go into the facility tomorrow report back.

Not sure it was severe but she said it was no picnic either from my memory.
You are correct, but it is rather subjective. What is debilitating for some may be tolerable for others. I think that is why it is so hard to subjectively measure one's tinnitus and why THI is a crap shoot.

Can we use the AKG headphones (part of the treatment) with our mobile phones to play normal music etc? They seem like a high quality pair.
