Lenire — Bimodal Stimulation Treatment by Neuromod

Nice to see that the negativity from the "MuteButton" thread has migrated over.

We know it is not going to work for everyone. We know it will help / improve some folks' symptoms and stop short of being a cure. We know that it will probably be a management tool for some people. We know that some people will spend a lot of money and not be helped by it. We know all this. I prefer to hope for the best because I function better when I have hope.

Thanks for your concern.

Palliative aid? From what I know in palliative aid, for example cancer, it does not happen that someone is recovering as a result of these treatments.

'Thalidomide' - to counteract nausea during pregnancy...?
The medical field is littered with failures where the pathology was not specific enough.
This thread is ridiculous, seriously. You guys just swing from optimistic to paranoid overnight.

Nobody's forcing anyone to use this treatment. Feel free to bow out of the thread and suffer with your tinnitus if you're really that paranoid. It's not like people aren't suicidal as it is. By all means stay in your house all day so you don't risk getting hit by a car while crossing the street---and stay away from that fluoridated water!

Same! It's hard to read the negative comments at times. I choose to have hope, as hard as it is at times x

Some people have got silence.
According to... PR statements from a company which has not actually published their research for peer review?

In any case, even if "some" do, based on what we know about this tech we should not expect that.

For some subset of tinnitus patients, these devices may significantly improve quality of life, just as DBS can improve quality of life for Parkinson's patients.

Having used this tech at University of Michigan, I'm super excited about it but also think this forum is way, way too bullish on how well this stuff actually works.

I second this about the bullish comments.

Just the other day I was at TheTinnitusClinic.co.uk and they sell a product called TDT - Tinnitus Desensitisation Therapy. They claim that in trials 90% reported significant improvement!! Just a prime example on how private enterprise sell their products, I'm hopeful but I'm also waiting to sell 'real evidence'.

I have also spoken to a girl who bought it and was gutted she paid somebody two and a half thousand pounds for some sounds.

Only when paying customers give 'unsolicited' reviews of this equipment will we know the truth of its efficacy.

All commercial enterprise shares the necessity for profit making.
Commerce drives everything.
Without investment, nothing happens.

But just like 'Trip Advisor,' it will be up to the man in the street to assess its true value.

Discussing the pros and cons of a possible treatment is not ridiculous.
However - I'll leave you in peace.......x
For me the the pro/cons have been beaten to death on these forums. I don't comment much anymore because it's just the same thing over and over. I am just sitting here skimming the comments and waiting for the release so I can get my travel booked :)

TDT is their version of TRT, isn't it? That's different to the Neuromod device.

Hopefully, Lenire will help alleviate our anxieties. Even though I'm habituated, doesn't mean I like it and I would certainly try a treatment out like Lenire. If it worked for me, I think it would also help reassure me something can be done if it did ever get worse.
Ah, the anxiety... In our case, it might truly be a good thing. Better some temporary anxiety flareups than recklessness and a permanent spike.

Funnily enough, my anxiety has abated significantly since the 2018 January publication of Dr. Shore's paper. I know that Dr. Shore is probably years away from commercialization, that Neuromod is dragging their feet, that the study hasn't been released and so on. But the fact that tinnitus is at least a tractable problem now, and not a complete unknown, has given me a sense of control and hope.

I'm surprised that Neuromod is actually going through with selling in select areas at first. Color me big surprised.

Anyone that pointed out obvious issues with Neuromod was relentlessly attacked. There is an unfortunate tendency towards groupthink on some of these threads.
Well, Neuromod is most likely going to be the first provider to make bimodal stimulation for tinnitus commercially available. I don't know how bad your tinnitus is, nor do I know how much pain you are in. But some of us are desperate. Even if it helps just a little, that may buy someone like me some more time. More treatments are on the way, including possibly cell regeneration technology. For now, I'll take Neuromod, because I have to do something.

I'm all for it working and they seem to be doing a better job of PR these days. I was talking about any skepticism being viciously attacked as was happening earlier this year.

You're wrong. The worst offenders are not merely pointing out obvious issues. They're just killjoy-trolling. Once there's a string of optimism I can almost time it to the moment when someone will come in and drop a killjoy-bomb. It's almost like they take perverse pleasure in dragging everyone else down.

What makes me optimistic about this device is that it has just been trialed for 12 weeks, with most feeling "something happening" after 6 weeks. If your tinnitus is stubborn, why not try it for another 12 weeks and then maybe a whole year. I'm right or am I right? Right?

There also seems to be a bit of competition between treatment modalities. Some biopunks here seem to laugh at and scorn zappers. Why not support both? It is possible to benefit from Neuromod while waiting for Frequency Therapeutics. By the time I'm done with both, I plan to have the hearing of a 16 year old and no money.

Personally. If I had not had a change happen in 12 weeks, I most probably wouldn't continue the treatment.

At that point the risk (I believe headphone use is a risk - especially because I have hyperacusis) would be to high compared to the possible benefit (I really don't believe it would work on you if it hasn't done anything in 12 weeks of treatment).

Just my personal opinion and choice.

Because I recommend 'unsolicited reviews' I'm 'killjoy trolling' and 'killjoy bombing?'
I'll leave you to believe everything you read then, while I remain a trifle more cautious.
And as for "perverse pleasure in dragging everybody else down," - not my intention at all.
Forgive me for being a realist.

What seems to happen is someone comes along and makes a point contrary to the hive mentality which results in everyone piling on the perpetrator for wrongthink.

Well, okay. I was angry at you a bit earlier, and my anger was unjustified because I mis-read your intention. I am sorry for that.

On the other hand, I will say that I've noticed one or two people (this is not directed at you, Jazzer) who almost seem like they want Neuromod to fail, so that they can be right and say, "I told you so, you naïve fools."
