Hi guys,
I am so happy I have the chance to share with somebody our story. We live in Bulgaria and I am young girl, never thought that anything like this could happen to our family OR that the so called Tinnitus can ruin my Dad`s life! It started three month ago and the noise in his ear was not so loud, he went to doctor immediately and they told him that his ear nerve is damaged and this can not be healed. He got mad. Ever since that point he started falling in bigger and bigger depression, talking only about this noise and how loud it is and he can not live like that. We forced him to psychiatric clinic half month ago and he started depression and nerve pills. Now he is a bit more calm and I keep telling him that everything will be alright- I don`t even know if I believe it but I read all of your posts here and get some hope. A week ago he had a 3 hours no Tinnitus time which was like mirracle, but his T varies to crisis sometimes and get harder to calm him. I will look for your comments of how I can give him a hope or your success stories. Thank you for your support!
p.s. How is it possible that he had 3 hours time with no noise after his nerve is damaged, what do you think?

Hi Elena,

For those 3 hours, he probably just didn't notice the sound. Tinnitus can come and go, and it is closely linked to depression. It's good news that he had those 3 hours, and those moments should become more and more frequent, and he should be bothered by the sound less and less as time goes on.

He has to keep himself busy and distracted, and not in situations where he can just sit there listening to his sound. If your family can help him fight depression you'll also be helping him fight his T.

Most people have a much better time and cope with their T within 6 months, best of luck to him.

Regards,
Daniel

Thank you Daniel, for reading my post and giving me these advices. I`m really really tired because I am the one to look after him and he is almost like a child now-talking ONLY about the noise and nothing else, constantly afraid that it might go higher...:sick::sick:

Hi @Elena_1234
Could you get your dad come on the forum with you together so we can support you both through this dark time with tinnitus and depression.....lots of love glynis x

Thank you so much guys!!! I decided to post this for my dad but now I realize I am T suffer as well- even though I don`t hear it myself!!! I am the only one to look after him and got a small child at the same time to care for, missing my University and job, and life suddenly got really complicated here. I can`t get him to do anything but a small walk in the near park, though he is taking antidepression drugs for 2 weeks now I don`t see any relief. I feel like I can`t take it anymore-all my questions to him are answered "It just got higher, why it is higher now, why why..."

Unfortunately tinnitus takes a huge toll on tinnitus sufferer and people around him/her.
It's really nice of you that you are willing to support your dad, he will need all the support he can get.
If he speaks english he should come here and talk to others in the same situation.

Sorry to hear about that, I understand that it's difficult for you.

I can understand what he is going through, it's not a small thing and he really needs your support.

You should suggest that he keeps himself busy with hobbies or activities, if he doesn't have any then he has to find something to do to take his mind off of it. This will help him keep the depression away and also not focus so much on his T, aswell as taking some of the pressure off of you.

I keep telling him that! I can`t bear all that pressure and I wish there was may be some android application to measure his T and show him that it is not that bad after all! Or at least I don`t want to think its that bad...huh... What he do all day is just lay in bed, measure the T. I feel like I`ve lost my dad already- now it`s just a T-person!

But it is really bad, he is suffering a lot I can promise you. I understand that you also feel frustrated but he must feel completely helpless and hopeless with it.

Tell him not to listen to it and measure it. Analysing the T sound only makes it more noticeable, louder, and makes people feel worse about it. It's one of the worst things you can do with T and its very important to stop or lessen that, and distract one's thoughts away from that. It's difficult to do though.
