this was in 2013, but yeah it makes me feel hopeless.
the only thing really known is hearing loss can cause neuroplastic changes everything else is a mystery.

i just stayed up all night graphic designing without even realizing it.
btw guys i''m employeed doing this, i can no longer technically be considered a NEET.

i actually enjoy what I am doing helping out my friends.

I understand that I'm being a weak person by stating this because I can still function relatively well in my life as a family man, and maintain a 9-5 job, but I just listened to a song I recorded back shortly before I had T and it sounded way different in my ears and kinda made me a little sad. But my hearing loss/T was caused by NSAID abuse and loud guitar playing. But here it is if anyone is interested. I understand many of us are musical and that's part of why we have T in the first place. This is me, before I had T. I'm the entire author of this song. My voice, my lyrics, me on guitar, my recording.I originally wrote this song about my wife, but now I'm dedicating it to the people that are working on FX-322. Hope you enjoy.

Not really my style tbh but it's good man, try to manage to play with your hearing issues and it's gon be fine, and in a few years see you at the hospital for the injection ;)

I still play my acoustic but I've been too afraid to play my electric. It's all good though. Once I get the FX-322 then I can go blast my ears out again.

So I noticed something interesting. Seems like a disproportionate number of people with severe tinnitus are skilled musicians or very attached to music. E.g. several of the regulars in this thread (including myself), as well as some who I've read completed suicide due to tinnitus such as Gaby Olthuis.
Of course this is totally anecdotal, but it seems plausible. Perhaps those whose auditory system is more "sensitive" are more drawn to music; and along a similar vein perhaps music aids in the refinement of the auditory system. These might make one more susceptible to severe tinnitus. Who knows.

Fuck this shit, why in heaven's name are audiologists and whoever else wasting time and resources copying each others' elementary school science projects and then giving them fancy names like TRT, Levo, and now the "latest and greatest", TDT.
Can we just get a goddamn acknowledgment that this is literally TORTURE for severe sufferers, and dedicate resources to looking for an actual cure!! I mean, give me one good reason why this is not literally CIA sound torture for severe sufferers. People complete suicide over this condition! Hello!!!
I don't know what these "professionals" learn in audiology and ENT school anyway. Judging by their current work I say they learn more about profit than about the human auditory system (>8000 hz hellloooooo it's not the nineteenth century)

Excuse my French. I am sorry. I'm just so angry and I'm really, really hurting.

I was saying the same thing before I ever seen this post.
@Contrast I don't know. I'm not trying to be pessimistic, but generally medical breakthroughs are nothing short of torturous, chronologically speaking. As for me, well, I just don't know if I'll make it. I'm already stretched way beyond my limits.

As an aside, one thing I appreciate about this site and this thread (MPP) - I find most people here to be very friendly and even supportive. That's something i didn't expect on the internet, and certainly not in a thread dedicated largely to memes;)
@threefirefour, @Contrast, @PetitGarsTimide, @JohnAdams, and all the others, you are really a fine group of folks.

Please just hang on. I do think fx 322 will cure us. I really do. They want to make money with this drug, if it works, which it already has in mice. Just be strong and take it day by day. I work all day through my T like a prison sentence and then drink about 3-5 shots of vodka starting around 8 PM and its been an okay balance.

No dude you have every reason to be pissed off at these men that are supposed to have dedicated their lives to helping people and they have become uninspired and fallen into the daily rigors of running a business and balancing their books. They are not creative or inspired. They tromp through life waiting for the next vacation or something.

Also the FDA and banking structure sets it up so that your average joe audiologist/ENT whatever simply cant spend time researching and doing experiments unless they have corporate funding.

But, the fact of the matter is this, they started trying to find a cure for alzheimers with that gamma secretase inhibitor but then they realized that it can regrow mammalian ear hair cells. There are now at least two new companies "racing" to cure us. This is good.

I understand you, this is like being on a horrible trip everyday, like you said, some CIA mind control torture shit. Just be strong. We may get our lives back sooner than later. I know its cliche at this point but just try your best to distract yourself and find some kind of life until that time comes. I love all of you.

When we do get the cure that means we have to take our lives and dedicate ourselves in the service of others suffering other things because now we have the gnosis of suffering.
