It seems to be similarly here in Sweden. We don't have a tinnitus association but an association for people with hearing damage.

Is there nothing that could be done about them stating things that are scientifically false?

Not legally because it is not libel or slander and they will always have dumb super fans being like "Thank you so so much for all the hard work you do." without even knowing what work they are doing or how much effort they put into it. I wonder how many hours and funds they invested in that road map? I bet they spent weeks on it and had 20 or more meetings to discuss it. Then they created an illegible, low resolution version to post on their website and Twitter. Dumb people see that blob of shapes and think, "wow they're doing stuff." and smart people see that and think, "wtf is this and how does it advance us to a cure? Oh wait, it doesnt.". I have also found at least two blatant instances of them spreading misinformation on their website. To me, their entire operation just seems like mental masturbation dressed up in a cause. The tragedy about it is that people are in fact suffering while they play games.

Yeah it's a shame. Like this guy who committed suicide from chronic tinnitus and severe hyperacusis and in his memory his family did a fundraiser for the BTA.

People act as if just because they are raising money then that is commendable, but then they turn around and waste it on studies into stuff like mindfulness. They might as well light the money on fire.

Also, when Daniel Ballinger died, they latched on to that fundraiser as well, even though Danny had a negative view of the BTA.

I'm genuinely wondering why the BTA even bothered to create a low resolution image of their road map in the first place. If it wasn't an accident, then I think that they did it that way because they wanted to show that they made a road map, but they dont want people to know what it says. What would be the motivation to do that? If it was an accident and they didnt catch it then they are genuinely on an Idocracy level.

These slogans are fucking sleazy from the get-go "our vision is a world where no one suffers from tinnitus". How about "where there is no tinnitus"??

They are all about the management strategies. It's like they think that the key is habituation 100%, which essentially means that if it bothers us then it is our fault for not habituating.

First off, cochlear regeneration needs to be on the pharmacological side. They also have psychological treatments under the section for a cure? Psychological treatments are only management strategies. Are they insinuating that habituation is a form of cure?
And laser? Are you kidding me?
They need to just admit that they are useless and close their doors and get real jobs.

Ear Infections - maybe
Ear Wax Build-up - that's temporary
Ménière's Disease - no way this beats medications
Glue Ear - that's temporary
Otosclerosis - no way this beats medications
Perforated Eardrum - no way this beats medications

It looks to me like the BTA are establishment goons that are also apologists for the medical establishment goons.
From my time on this website it almost seems like medications are the second leading cause of tinnitus. I don't have stats to back that up.

This is coming from the same group that claims cochlear regeneration is non-pharmacological........

I think the people that run these tinnitus groups are a small group and they are very secretive about what they do and how they do it. I think they know that if we knew how they make their decisions and what they think about tinnitus that they would be slammed as arrogant, ignorant pricks.
