MPP does not endorse scientology. Scientiologists are disturbing to say the least. I remember once I watched documentaries on their history.
I am endorsing them in the least. They are a horrible predatory "religion." I'm not assuming anyone here endorses them either. That wasn't my point.

If the current definition of materalism is true defined as the universe being one of infinite arranagements of possible universes, and I exist against virtually impossible odds (like a novel in the library of babel) and free will being an illusion.

Just wow, everything is statistically impossible but we know it happened or else we wouldn't exist. Might as well try to duplicate that luck here and look for a novel in the library of babel. Btw it is far more inprobable them this.

Here's an intelligible arrangement by dumb chance.

This is random unintelligible arrangement of characters. This is Dawkins materialism and it requires infinite universes to play out every intelligble arrangement of matter and energy.

I'm trying to think of a counter post where threefirefour pops in and explains the materialistic side of the argument. But I can't. His only argument would be you would have not known other wise because you exist.

I'm sad MPP is dying. threefirefour became a turbo normie and left his disciples in the wilderness.

This website is literally is what I imagined. it allows the user to upload gifs, images and an audio file and position them on screen wherever they want along with text. However it appears to be closed source. :(

I hope it is a premature statement. Just wanted to say hello (here) and I thank you - Contrast for posting interesting stuff on consciousness research and whatever around. It inspired me to try (again) to harness Shankar's Principles of Quantum Mechanics and get through that algebra intro again, as reading rest of the book without algebra makes not sense and I lack foundations. I need some material to see if I can get some connection to all these theories about the free will and speculations that brain is somehow quantum device and can escape Newton's physics, yada yada. But need solid math talking.

And btw. a proof that free will does not exist would be utter funny and would bring me lot of relief, so I could stop fighting and accept whatever sh%t happens, since I'd anyway make the same choice all over again, hence I cannot blame myself for anything, as I had no choice anyway, so instead I should just sit in the damn chair and enjoy the view thorough my life. For now it is just my gut feeling, that's why I am also again all "sin" stuff, etc.

Another thanks for the making me aware of the term "normie". Lot of them everywhere and sometimes they make me depressed I am not one of them, don't enjoy life that much, think too much about everything, but then seriously I can't comprehend how they never think about the existence and stuff. Maybe they are some sort supernumeraries (extras) as in Adam Snerg book "According, to the Thief" in this play of life?

So that's all for now. Have a nice evening everyone.

Funny how back in 2017 I was going to start classes on ecology and environmental sciences but my life got ruined. I don't know jack shit about quantum physics, I'm just a nutjob that rants about consciousness being a mystery. Here's a quote by Dan Denette.

There are serious people who believe consciousness and quantum mechanics share a connection. I just want to know why they hold these views. Is it just an alternative to God did it™ or are they up to something?

All of this stuff about quantum physics and the mind reminds me of stuff I read in the book The Holographic Universe.

Maybe there is a lesson here that could lead us to heal our tinnitus by changing our thoughts. Not like this "I redefined it" or "I don't care anymore" but a hard, scientific way to treat this without regrowing nerves and hair cells.

That's not what they are saying. Our individual consciousness has obvious limits, we can't change tinnitus using our minds.

Donald Hoffman's hypothesis is that the "external world" outside of consciousness is a whirl of information following mathmatical logic. Our sensory perception is what deciphers it.The model also allows for higher forms of consciousness to exist in different realms of space-time or outside of it entirely.

Both materalist and idealist believe space-time is emergent from something going on in the quantum but materialist consider it pseudoscience to believe that something is consciousness or God. Idealist are accused of pseudoscience for trying to tie consciousness to quantum field theory. Sean Caroll ( a quantum physcist) is very critical of people who hold those views. It is deemed woo to believe consciousness has any properties which also means free will is an illusion.

If you don't believe free will is an illusion, you already believe one thing about consciousness that goes against the standard model.

I really don't care about this consciousness stuff anymore because I already came to the conclusion that I'll never know the truth. But whatever consciousness is doing is not scientifically understood at all.

The only thing left to do is to draw crap art with Julian and ponder about the nature of reality.

Artificial intelligence learns from algorithms that people program, they learn in a completely different way from biological animals that learn from reward/punishment and survival emotions built into their brain.

Comparing how consciousness evolved too AI is not working. AI's don't have goals like organism's do. They are not self organizing systems as humans build them and they don't maintain themselves unless programmed.

It is only a vocal minority of computer nerds who think consciousness is 100% computational. Consciousness uses computation but consciousness itself is not a computation. it's a raw form of subjective awareness that benefits from computer power of the brain. An AI does not have that. I'd bet a worm is more aware then a super computer is.
