I'm feeling more optimistic the last couple months. I feel like I have a life to live, I have a future, which I didn't last year. I don't know what that future will look like but I look forward to it.
I don't want anyone to think I'm out of the water and life is back to normal. It's not. I want people to know that I'm not the mess I was when I first started this thread. I'm prepared to face the future and wait however long I have to to enjoy it. I'm not in the hole I was a year ago.
I'm moving in the right direction slowly and that's all I can ask for.
Thank you!@SashaG
It sounds like things are improving rapidly for you. I hope the progress continues. The fact that you hear silence at times is encouraging. I haven't heard silence since this happened.
The t may get louder again but if it's gotten quieter it can get quieter again.
Please keep in mind that progress isn't always linear with t. You may have a quiet day, week, or month and then the next may be louder. It's a one step forward two steps back type of thing for many.
Finally, just because the t is quieter don't think your ears are done healing. Give them time after. If you read this thread several times I thought things were better, so I pushed the envelope, and set myself back. Give it time.
I wish you continued success.
Drove a long way today, probably about 5-6 hours. The last couple hours I went from the x5a's to ear plugs because my head was tired of being squished. I was driving my diesel truck with the noise level around 70-75 db in the truck. The noise didn't seem that bad with the plugs in. T is definitely louder and sharper tonight, hopefully it will reset overnight.
I'm not amped up on anxiety, though it is increasing as my ears volume goes up.
I'm in awe that 13 months after this started it's still so reactive, and so loud, and disappointed in myself for not letting the ear muffs squish my noggin. I considered the consequences when I put the plugs in and it was one of those moments where I was simply exhausted with the whole situation.
I was near some loud noises with no hearing protection briefly today and it's motorcycle season so a few caught me by surprise.
I'll mask and hope things improve overnight.
I can't say I was doing fantastic with the level of the t, it wasn't really getting quieter, I was getting more used to it.
My sign of a setback is an increase in h. I'll see what happens over the next few days. That will tell me how upset my ears are.
I'm feeling exhausted about the whole situation and trying to figure out when it will be over and realizing it probably never will be. I try not to think about that too long.
Not sure if these will help, and there are lots of other types on Amazon. I ride a Harley and am going to give them a try. I'll certainly report back here if they work. In the meantime it might be something to look into. Hang in there. https://www.amazon.ca/Vibes-Acousti...coding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=THNXQKRDQGWQKM29RPH0
:O I'm getting these.
@dellwas
Thanks for the link. I'm pretty sure what I had in was more protection that those IF I had them in right.
Have you ever tried using noise cancelling headphones like Bose QC25? In my car they work as well as X5A, I am not sure whether this will be the case in a diesel truck...my head was tired of being squished
I've heard of some people having issues. I wear earplugs underneath my noise cancelling headphones, to protect myself from the headphones...No @Bill Bauer . I don't like the idea of opposite sound waves being generated and played in the headphones. I don't have proof but I don't want to find out the hard way there is an issue. I've never heard of an issue from anyone, including you.
Some positive vibes from me, my situation seems to keep improving, it's been 4 weeks now and over the last 4 days I have made quite some progress. It seems as my "pattern" worked out, but I still hear something when it's very quiet or I wear my noise cancelling headphones.
Sometimes the bell is a bit louder, but the intensity goes down and it lasts less long. Don´t give up hope guys, stay strong and work hard!
@dellwas You had said this and tinnitus with concussion often does go away. I would credit this to improving issues and your concussion doc. I had also mentioned to you to see a concussion doctor when you first posted.
"Concussion Doc is very confident the T. will completely go away, or at a minimum, will reduce to a very manageable condition. He has Tinnitus and I'm very lucky to have him. I am now diagnosed with ETD, BPPV, and of course the concussion, or post concussion syndrome. He thinks it will resolve once these conditions are addressed."
BPPV does not cause hearing loss and it recommended with concussion to reduce background noises, so I doubt that a music file helped. So much more to say, but you are entitled to think whatever you want.
That my point, you may not have much hearing loss. I was kind enough to provide you with a concussion guide recovery link when you started posting with discussion on being more sensitive to sound as normal after concussion. I also mentioned that a concussion clinic will be very helpful and you thanked me. So with that I wish you full recovery and the best. Take care.
