Cause of Tinnitus
Overmasturbation????
Right so here's the deal bros, I know you guys are gonna say masturbation doesn't have to do with tinnitus etc, but hear me out alright. And this is hella awkward for me due to the nature of the subject, which is the reason why I'm going anonymous, also, I'm not going for grammar right now as I'm just trying to tell my story.

So it all started out on September 26, 2018, when I nutted for the first time. Here is the sequence of the number of times I nutted over the next days:

27: 1
28: 1
29: 2
30: 2
1: 2
2: 3
3: 3
4: 3
5: 4
6: 5
7: 0
8: 1 (of course it's Columbus day)

After that one time on October 8, after nutting, there was this ringing in my left ear. I started panicking but then found a site where it said anxiety could induce tinnitus so I shrugged it off, went to the gym to ball for a bit, then came home and watched the redskins play.

On October 9, I woke up and it was virtually gone, but it was too much to hope for, and it came back full strength within a minute. I went to school, and it was loud enough to hear it clearly in a ~50 decibel room. Just before last period, I kind of panicked, and asked to go the nurse. I went to Urgent Care and they chalked it up to impacted ear wax, but despite the use of irrigation to remove the ear wax (yes, I know how bad irrigation is now), even with all the ear wax removed, the tinnitus was still present. I proceeded to ejaculate 3 times, not helping the situation. We called an ENT, and we somehow managed to get an appointment the next day in the morning (yes, I'm a legend. We went to the ENT, he said according to the hearing tests, my hearing was normal, but this was a good ENT and he mentioned how I could have hidden hearing loss. I went back to school the next day with the advice of the ENT that I would eventually get used to the noise and to use a white noise machine in the night. I went to sleep, but as I continued to masturbate, it appeared in the right ear. However, I kept sticking with it, and on Friday, the tinnitus dropped albeit me not helping the situation by continuing to masturbate as I didn't connect the dots at the time. It was now at the level where I could only notice it a room of ~30 decibels. That was also the day where I connected the dots and have been trying to abstain from PMO (Porn, Masturbation, Orgasm - I will be using this a lot now). Shoutout to r/nofap.

Right so anyways here I am now. I keep trying to abstain. Oh and before you say it could be due to something else, let me state the facts. Tell me it isn't a coincidence EVERY SINGLE TIME I go on a LONG STREAK the TINNITUS LEVEL DROPS, and vice versa for masturbating and an increase in noise level, which occurs the day after. From what I assume is due to masturbation, I also got a whole another host of nasty symptoms, which would take way too long to mention but to name a few (tinnitus, eustachian tube dysfunction, hyperacusis, insomnia, anxiety, depression, lethargy, lack of motivation, etc.).

Before you say anything, but wait there's more, when I go for long streaks, all of these symptoms diminish or outright disappear, but everytime I relapse, they come back full force and with respect to the tinnitus / hyperacusis / eustachian tube dysfunction, it comes back even harder. The only way to improve is to constantly get long streaks and minimize the relapses. I'm doing fine 7 days then 7 days then 14 days then 8 days, but every time I relapse I relapsed 5 times. I keep messing up. I can't do this anymore. I can't deal with my symptoms. It's too hard. And for these symptoms and stuff, look at anecdotal stories and scientific evidence blah blah blah blah.

Ya so I'm kinda superstitious so I won't say anything, no guarantees, but I just wanted to let you guys don't masturbate, or at least no excessively, or you could be struggling like me. Trust me, PMO is insanely hard to break free from when you're deep enough into it.

I don't want to live anymore, any advice on how to get the long streaks to hopefully lower the tinnitus levels, and for the record, I'm 13 years old.

I'm not sure what you're asking of us? Are you seeking approval for your PMO habit? Or looking for ways to stop it?

Have you tried wearing boxing gloves?

Do you have visual snow as well? Close your eyes, do you see static/weird lights etc?
Yes, I have visual snow as well, as I said, I''ve researched a lot and I have a whole host of symptoms, just forgot to mention that, the amount of sytmptoms I have are insane and I don't know how much longer I can deal with it because I can't seem toget a long enough streak. The only hope I have is that people say the nerves will heal, the hormonal imbalance will balance, blah blah blah basically meaning I'm going to be as healthy as I used to be, and that's what keeps me going.

I'm sure as hell not looking approval that's outright stupid, nah I'm looking for rways to stop it. I can't have boxing gloves.

Do you use headphones when you watch porn? I don't see what else could change the volume of your T :/

PS : "8: 1 (of course it's Columbus day)"

I have absolutely no idea, but this is at least the fifth story like this I've read over the years, and connections between tinnitus and the endocrine system are well established.

Anything is possible. If abstinence from jacking off keeps your ears quiet, then you have to decide what is more important, peace and quiet or a good nut.

Look into if tinnitus can be modulated by lowering prana, testosterone and so on. Or maybe you're just one of those overly anxious nofap people

Unrelated to tinnitus, I no longer masturbate but I haven't noticed what you're describing.

spiritual reasons or other?
Well, it started because of that when I was actively directing energy, but that came to a halt when tinnitus appeared. Now it's mostly because I feel that it's the right thing to do for my 9 year long relationship.

Tinnitus has made me finally go through with some changes I have been meaning to make for some time. Mostly dietary changes, notably I removed all dairy which was my staple food before. But also things like no porn and masturbation (from watching maybe 10 minutes porn and masturbating 1 or 2 times a week before, so not a huge change)

Alllrrrrigghhhhtyyyy then.

What, you think that's outlandish?

I guess it is if you don't believe that sex and masturbation is a transfer of energy. Energy (prana/chi) is lost if you masturbate, but it's merely transfered if you have respectful sex with someone. You give some, but you get it back.

In fact, maybe that's the original reason that most religions shun masturbation. But other reasons were made up later on

This loss of prana is what I alluded to earlier in the thread

Interesting; I had a recent psychedelic experience where I felt that my lack of self-control around, basically, sexually gratuitous thinking, became an obstacle that I need to find a way to shatter before I go back to that space.

Western culture is so dripping with hedonism that when you make a statement like "I don't drink alcohol" or "I don't masturbate", people often assume you have some kind of problem, when in fact I think it is that society has a problem with excess and dopamine.

Metta work is definitely a better use of time than masturbation and I think it's kind of the opposite, as far as, deliberately cultivating conscious empathy and connection, rather than retreating to internal pleasures usually fueled by unrealistic visual imagery.

I think American culture in general is addicted to sex and pornography to a degree that many people become incredibly defensive when you even suggest that there are alternate ways of existing. Any time you say something that you feel is entirely reasonable that really sets off a nerve with someone else --- well, one of you is crazy, and if you have some basic self-awareness, it's probably not you, since most people lack this.

Without getting into eastern concepts of energy transfer and all that, my personal observation is that excessive masturbation makes me closed off emotionally and prone to selfish behavior, in a way that's much more mild than, but basically similar to, the way I behave when I'm prescribed opiates for a period of time. Which, you know, makes a good deal of sense when you understand the wetware of how these things work, the similarities are more than superficial.

Thank you for the education about Prana.
Makes total sense to me from personal experience and experiments with chinese and Korean acupuncture and moxibustion.

I've thought of this often over my life that too much masturbation may have been a contributing factor in my tinnitus and it makes some sense if you consider that "Sperm and semen require a lot of specific nutrition. Some of these nutrients include Zinc, Omega 3 Fats, and Vitamin E. All of those nutrients are sadly lacking in the common Western diet". (Quotes are from a website about prostate health)

If one continuously masturbates and the body doesn't have enough vitamins and minerals to function properly or protect itself perhaps then even small or seemingly insignificant audio damage can occur or the tinnitus results from lack of these vitamins/minerals and healthy system function?

@linearb I couldn't agree more with your post about hedonism, excess, and dopamine.

I recently quit drinking for a month (not that I drink much) and whenever I told someone that I was quitting they asked whatever for? And if someone mentioned going for or having a drink and I mentioned that I quit drinking they acted as if they had deeply offended me as if my quitting must have been for some religious or spiritual reason instead of just general health.

Hi @1-800-273-8255 -- I'm sorry to hear what a difficult time you're going through. I'll start right out with what I consider the good news: You can modulate your tinnitus intensity! I would like to assure you that that in itself should be highly encouraging. It means you have at least an element of control over your tinnitus.

What it appears you have less control with is your addiction to porn, and your lack of desire to live. I would suggest you take a close look at whether entity involvement might be involved in both of these major struggles of yours. I realize you may have never heard of entity involvement. Also, I suspect most people who have heard of it likely never give it serious consideration.

But my wife has been a professional therapist for many years, and has done almost innumerable entity releasements with her clients. To be honest, I was a bit uneasy with the whole concept when I first started hearing about it. And again to be honest, it took me quite a while to start getting at least a "decent" understanding ot it. But by now, I've heard many stories of how entity releasements led to amazing transformations in people who were freed from their influence.

I did a search online for "entities causing porn addiction", and this link came up first. -- Pornography Addiction and Entity Release -- I perused it briefly, and thought it gave a pretty good intro of some of the aspects of entities, and the detrimental role they can play in a person's life. Various things can cause a vulnerable person to become susceptible to entities, including alcohol; drugs; disease; watching horror or demonic films, or porn; shock; etc. I think tinnitus onset can be a factor as well.

I felt I was dealing with entities when my tinnitus first hit me last year, continually hearing meassages like: "Your life is over, just kill yourself and be done with it." At other times it was just a feeling of overwhelming despair of having to go on living, etc. Thankfully, my wife was able to clear out the entities that were responsible for the depth of my thoughts and fears.

I feel those entities are now long gone, and I've now "reclaimed" my sense of self. To be honest however, I still struggle with coming to terms (or reaching an accommodation with) with my tinnitus. But dealing with tinnitus with entity involvement like in the beginning was so much harder than having those entities gone. And my current struggles do not feel like anything I can't overcome.

It did take me a few months for me to finally build up the strength to keep those entities out of my energy field, without having to depend on my wife to do it for me. I could give you some tips on how I did that if you're interested. Could I have navigated this whole ordeal had I been on my own without my wife's assistance? Not sure, but I think I could have. But it would likely have been much more difficult. Needless to say, I feel incrediby fortunate to have been able to identify and address those entity issues when I did.

Take care of yourself young man. You've taken a big step by posting on this forum. I truly believe you can overcome your current struggles, and become a stronger person for your efforts. -- All the Best!

I've read more stories than I can count regarding overmasturbation and tinnitus.

There must be some connection. I know people kid but in seriousness there are plenty of anecdotal stories.

Something to think about?
