Oh no, it was music I was worried about.

Now, the city street soundscape.......? That always gets me in the mood!
Well, my friend, I can leave the city street soundscape on all night long, if you know what I mean ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

Anyway, gotta get to bed because I have to help my best friend with her pregnancy photo shoot tomorrow. Might just kill myself :D

Well, as long as your ears aren't the only body part that's throbbing... I think for me it'd be more like, "Do you mind if I put on the city street soundscape on my phone real quick? I don't think I can, uh, get there otherwise. My ears are ringing louder than we are right now." Ta-da, mood ruined successfully! :D
Lmfao! Well, when you put it like that...

City street soundscape eh? I'm more of a heavy rain man myself. Bound to cause confusion in the middle of summer
I often think being in a relationship with someone who also has tinnitus would be so much easier. Just imagine not having to explain why we do things the way we do - bliss!

Well I have terrible pulsatile tinnitus, and I can safely say, when the moment takes over you forget about it until you're spent - then it hammers away like anything. :bored:
Oh for sure - it really would make things a lot easier!

Haha that's what I fear... the aftermath :nailbiting:

My new books! (And a cat.)

Gaiman, specifically American Gods, just never got around to it. Let me know what it's like! Also, out of curiosity, do you read with background noise on?
I've read American Gods once before, and I liked it a lot. The main character is a bit bland, unfortunately.

I read with background noise sometimes, yeah. But I can read without it as well. All depends on how bad my tinnitus is.

@Steph1710, I'm so sorry to hear you're stuck at such an uncomfortable impasse in your relationship. I only have experience with short term relationships (more trash fire than true love lol), but I still feel for you. Unfortunately there isn't a super graceful way to end things when a relationship goes sour. A book that really helped me when I was going through my own situation was "getting past your breakup" by Susan Elliot. There's a lot of self reflection and list writing involved, but it really changed my view of myself and the breakup in a more healthy way. Good luck :)

Imagine being in a quiet room doing adult stuff and saying, "Uh, sorry, can we turn on some music or something?" because all you can focus on is the tinnitus. Maybe it really is better to date a fellow sufferer, at least they'd understand :D
Hahaha that made me laugh. I can totally relate. Imagine having sex with extreme hyperacusis in a silent room with a rattling or creaking bed :wideyed:

It can be done!

Imagine taking your date to a room similar to the one from " Fifty Shades of Gray " that's full of earplugs, earmuffs and noise cancelling devices instead of cuffs, ropes and eye masks :)

Sounds familiar, my room has a huge selection of foam earplugs, some ear defenders and filter earplugs :D

This thread is becoming too hot to handle. Someone revive my ashes, like a phoenix. Then buy me a new tracksuit because that shit was expensive.

I did not have time for earplugs. Naked ears haha.

Living life on the edge!
Always wear protection -- thank me later. You will reduce the chances of unplanned... setbacks. Sure, it feels better without, but don't let the heat of the moment prevent you from safe hyperacusis practices.

Started a job at Dollar Tree in April. It's been cool so far. Hate waking up super early but at least I'm off earlier. Also willing to throw hands for $1.

I used to work at a dollar store. Fucking hated it, lol. Some people may not know this, but at least half the job (from the expectations of the managers) is to look out for thieves.

I also found myself in a position where my supervisor couldn't do any math, but it was her job to count the money at the end of the night. I wasn't supposed to be near the money, but I had to help her make sense of it, lol.

Best of luck.

@Zugzug, poor lady. Glad you could help her.
