These philosophers interest me far more than 'so called' messiahs.
I guessed that! The funny thing is that their messages often overlap. Some have even speculated that Jesus visited India before beginning his teaching, or maybe the Essenes who were an Eastern-inspired sect based near the Dead Sea.

Personally I've always thought that no one person or philosophy has a monopoly on wisdom, as we all share the same human nature. Being able to apply that wisdom is another matter though, it's challenging for me on my own anyway.

When I read an absolute nugget of wisdom it goes right to the core of who I am. There is no thought required. Just gratitude for recognition.

Recognition is the only place where healing can occur.

Of necessity, our imagination must embrace the dark reality of 'what is' as a precursor to 'what could be.' For then and only then will we see in the darkness of today the certain light of tomorrow.

Little Light

There is this little light within,
Her name is Hope,
And I know that as long as
I can feel her there,
Just beneath my skin,
Sending her waves within
the labyrinth of my mind,
She is snugly at peace
within my heart,
And I have a chance.

Christine Evangelou

Life is filled with unanswered questions, but it is the courage to seek those answers that continues to give meaning to life.

You can spend your life wallowing in despair, wondering why you were the one who was led towards the road strewn with pain, or you can be grateful that you are strong enough to survive it.

I think Christine may be a fan of Emily Dickinson. Nothing wrong with a little more beautiful verse to inspire hope in the world.

"I met a man locked away
For things he hadn't done
Innocence on a ball and chain
He'll never feel the sun
Again on his face or roses
In his hands, but when he smiled at me I could understand
If you're free you'll never see the walls
If your head is clear you'll never free fall
If you're right you'll never fear the wrong
If your head is high you'll never fear at all"

Chris Cornell

"Whether you like it or not, you are commited to the human endeavor. I cannot ally myself with such a purely negative goal as the avoidance of suffering. Suffering is a chance you take by the fact of being alive" - William S. Burroughs.

"Death, the only immortal who treats us all alike, whose pity and whose peace and whose refuge are for all - the soiled and the pure, the rich and the poor, the loved and the unloved." - Mark Twain
