You are right. You got me. We now have internet on Mars. It's pretty great. I can finally connect with earthlings with T.

Must cost you a lot of money coming backwards and forwards for a cup of coffee. Must have coffee plantations on Mars, well, under it.

Has anyone come accross side effects:

  1. These side effects can range from mild to serious and include headache, nervousness, sleep problems, vomiting, diarrhea, irritability, irregular heartbeat, tremor, heartburn, dizziness, ringing in the ears, convulsions, and confusion.

I have not come across any side effects in fact quite the opposite. I found a nice Chinese Tea shop in London where you can buy the high quality loose leaf stuff, some of the leaves are aged up to 40 years!! Anyway I am hooked on it now, it makes me feel very relaxed and although doesn't take away my symptoms it is kind of like taking a pain killer and just makes life that much more bearable.

I bought a big 4 litre tea pot, I think yesterday I must have drank more than 4 litres of of Pu'erh tea lol, I even put some in a thermos before heading out to a networking event in the evening.

If I do get any side effects though I will report back but so far it's been very good for me.

It's safe for children to drink and I wouldn't imagine many people get tinnitus from it. It's because it works on GABA and playing around with GABA is why they listed it as a side-effect. Although, I would love to see where they pulled that from? Do they have a study around such allegations?

"Allegations" lol - how dare they accuse pu'erh of such crimes as these so called 'side effects'.

Seriously though it looks like pretty much all the side effects listed are because of the caffeine and nothing exclusive about the tea itself.

Quoting top section, emphasis mine:

If you are breast-feeding, moderation in drinking pu-erh tea is also important. Caffeine passes into breast milk, so nursing mothers should closely monitor caffeine intake to make sure it is on the low side. Caffeine in large amounts might be UNSAFE during breast-feeding. Caffeine can cause sleep disturbances, irritability, and increased bowel activity in breast-fed infants.

Children: Pu-erh tea seems to be safe in children in amounts commonly found in foods and beverages.

Anxiety disorders: The caffeine in pu-erh tea might make these conditions worse.

Bleeding disorders: There is concern that pu-erh tea might make bleeding disorders worse because of its caffeine content. Use pu-erh tea with care if you have a bleeding disorder.

Heart conditions: The caffeine in pu-erh tea can cause irregular heartbeat in some people. Use pu-erh tea with caution if you have a heart condition.

So yesterday I might have OD'd on pu'er lol. It did give me some heart palpitations. I just drank lots of water. It was fine though, might need to not drink more than 4 litres of it a day!

Here's a guide to how much caffeine there is in: pu-erh tea, black tea, green tea, white tea etc..

@Danny Boy , Do you know anything about a tea named Yerba Maté? It contains (among other things) vitamin C, potassium, magnesium and manganese.

"Mate is a healthy and stimulating drink, with roughly 35 milligrams of caffeine per 8 oz. serving. Yerba Maté is an appetite suppressant, also high in Vitamin C, potassium, magnesium, and manganese. Mate contains xanthines, which are in the same family as caffeine, and sometimes called "mateine". Mate also contains other natural chemicals and trace minerals that seem to mellow out the experience of consuming this particular type of caffeine, and many mate drinkers report that they feel alert and focused without any negative effects of coffee, such as jitters and a caffeine crash. Preliminary scientific studies of mate have shown that the compounds in the plant have a relaxing effect on smooth muscle tissue, rather than a stimulating effect on the central nervous system."

I do indeed. I have some at the house, really nice tea. I don't drink it often enough though. Matcha green tea does seem to help lower tinnitus from my experience. I've got some mate in the house, so I can try some again, I haven't drank any since I got tinnitus.

If you find it helpful please let us know :)
Thought I'd look for it at my local coffe/tea shop. I like that it's suppose to calm the central nervous system, but that's maybe true for many kinds of tea? I'm not really a tea expert :)

Well, mate tea is way different to normal tea, as it's not from the tea leaf, like red bush tea is.
