Solsaem Clinic (Dr. Minbo Shim) Experience

There is a man named Aldo that had his account blocked that has just finished his treatment with Dr. Shim.

So there's GlennAz, Aldo, and myself that have direct hands on experience with this at this point.

I have shared my experience with this treatment and it is positive. There are now 2 others (one blocked, tell Markku to unblock him) that have experienced this as well. All 3 of us have different origins of our tinnitus and different levels of hearing loss. Do not take any advice from Ed209 or Agatha or any other naysayers because they are just know-it-all keyboard warriors.

The treatment is expensive, and not guaranteed to work. Dr. Shim has said as much. I understand that. That's why I have explained how it works and cited numerous scientific journal articles to support this as much as I can, because I want this to be further studied, and independently verified. I have a huge passion to find a solution to our suffering.

That guy Aldo is a really awesome guy too. He is a musician and his handle is SUPERWAR.

I'd like to see his account restored.

@JohnAdams Did he say why he was blocked?

Until @Markku decides to unblock him, can you share any results he maybe have mentioned to you after his treatment and how long has it been since treatment? Better yet, can he write something in his own words and you post it on his behalf? The more actual experiences the better.

At the time he was banned, I was not aware he had gone to Dr. Shim - not that it would have made a difference in my decision. I believe his contributions back then were in major part to the Frequency Therapeutics thread.

The reason he was banned was that he insisted on writing every single post with CAPS LOCK ON. Every single sentence. I very clearly told him not to do that, but he disregarded my guidance. On top of that, his English was very poor, hard to make sense of (although that alone would not be reason enough for banning).

I also received a couple of "fuck your mothar fuckkerr" (sic) messages afterwards. That's always evidence of someone being "a really awesome guy".

FWIW, he tried to sign up yesterday. I sent an email to the address he had used, but it bounced back undelivered (mailbox didn't exist). That was weird because he had verified the email a couple of hours earlier when signing up, but then before I sent the email it had ceased to exist (and it was a yahoo email). Because I had been made aware before that he had gone to Dr. Shim, I wanted to give him another opportunity.

Anyway, if he signs up an account with a working email address where I can reach him, he's welcome to try this one more time...

Wow, I warned you before in this very same thread about the name calling, yet you insist on continuing this behaviour. Our policy is that it's ok to be critical of ideas/policies/arguments etc. but we don't tolerate direct attacks on people.

I was just checking with Shea Ear Clinic and waiting to to hear back from Dr. Paul Shea. His nurse was going to call me back. I was to Shea Clinic in 2011.

I could ask him about Dr. Shim (if he ever heard of him and his procedures).

I have loud static hiss right now.

I wish I could duplicate my random good day but that seems to prove difficult.

I did order new Clara hearing aids with a remote and rechargeable batteries. Audicus is a online seller of hearings aids at decent prices.

Back to Dr. Shim for a moment.

If you look at the audiograms that another sean made links to, they are quite impressive. The good doctor definitely is onto something that has been discussed on its scientific theories, e.g., Growth factors, PRP.

If all the results, both good and bad were logged, one could more accurately predict who and when would be a prime candidate... but we know younger is better, but we could know even more through theoretic analysis.

I digress... Just wanted to say the audiograms are pretty dam impressive on the Navier site.

JohnAdams, if you want to advocate for us, and I want you to... Control your frustrations... be patient, be chill... it will be more effective and you will be heard and respected more, and you already are.
We all care about you, so check in and let us know how your ears are doing.
Let all the crap flow away... what's done is done.
We are in the same team...

Check in, give us an update, and hope all the Shim patients are on the mend.
Please forgive me, if I have offended anybody, JohnAdams in particular... I just want us back to a calmer better place on this thread that I've been engaged in since joining this forum.

Hearing loss, tinnitus and brain damage is f&cking awful.

Certainly has done its best to destroy me...

Everyday is a fight for me... and for a lot of us.

Same team!

In case anyone's interested, this is Dr. Shims' office area. John and Aldo can confirm that.
My better half and myself, and his two nurses, are also in the picture.

You can see a couple pictures up someone's nose (on top), and someone's eardrum (bottom). These aren't mine, I don't think.

When he does an exam with a light, he's also taking pictures.
I think he has an impressive office setup.

I was at an ENT in central Phoenix, four months ago. Belieeeve me when I say, Dr. Shims' place is way nicer and more modern, than the one in central Phoenix.

This is not 3rd world country stuff.

It's upsetting when people attack the Koreans and their country, when they have zero knowledge about it.

@GlennAz any improvement in your tinnitus?

How long until the recovery window closes?

I have 6 more weeks. Then I'll get an audiogram.
Actually, right now, my tinnitus is a little softer, though it's still present. But I don't really pay any attention to it.

My conversation understanding is still difficult.

Every AM, while getting ready for the day, I turn on some praise music and listen using Dr Shim's headphones.

These bone conduction headphones have seemed louder lately, and I haven't changed settings.

Samsung is a Korean company. I love my Samsung television. I'd venture to guess that at least one of the people calling Korea a third world country is doing so on a Korean device!
South Korea has one of the fastest growing economies in history. Has innovations in technology and medicine, and they even do extremely well in music, gaming, and film/television, to the point where they have influenced western culture. To call it 3rd-world or lawless is ridiculous, yet so many seem to do that.

Right? Some people are just ignorant. :dunno:

Is Shim's hand on your butt.

I would tend to agree on being advanced.
I have a 22 second video of the Airbnb that we stayed at.
Hmm, I can't attach it. But you'd agree it's ahead, if I could attach it.

I have Sony TV's. Most TV's are made in China it seems, but maybe to different specs.

All we can do is throw money around and hope like hell because the only thing we can be sure as shit about is nobody else gives a fuck about stopping this noise. We're flying solo.
Well... given that the average donation per tinnitus sufferer (not to mention general engagement) is way less than for other medical conditions, I would say that no one – incl. tinnitus sufferers – seem interested in stopping the noise. So... in a sense, not only are you flying solo, there is actually no one in the cockpit, at all... :D

@GlennAz you are a frigen rock star for posting these pics. Finally we are getting some visuals of this place after 46 pages. And yeah, my ENT, highly regarded, USC grad, and he doesn't have equipment like that either.

I thought the painting behind you guys was from The Little Mermaid or Peter Pan, then I saw two cherries in a boat and a peach swimming.

Here is a picture that might be of some interest. This photo is not overly exciting since I have not seen Dr. Shim, but it shows the machine involved in the extraction of the stem cells from my iliac crest. I imagine Dr. Shim has a similar device, maybe even the exact same one. Took this photo while I was waiting (somewhat anxiously) for the doctor to pierce the bone with a big needle. It was much less painful than it sounds.

I'm sitting in Dr. Shim's sound booth for an audio testing. One of his nurses is sitting in front of the monitor, administering the test, just out of view of the camera.

You can see the outside monitor with an audiogram on it. Based on that audiogram, it looks like someone's hearing totally sucks... and that looks like my audiogram...
It's accurate.

Yes, @just1morething, my better half is my wife, and she did the picture taking.

The picture taking exception was the pic that she was in, with the Peter Pan background. Julie, one of the interpreters, that Dr. Shim brought in, took the Peter Pan picture.

The sound booth at the ENT I went to, in central Phoenix, 4 months ago, was a dirty dungeon compared to Dr. Shim's. The clarity of the test, was far better at Dr. Shim's too, even though I don't hear to save my life.

I'm sorry, I'm not trying to bash another doctor. I'm just stating facts.

It's really good to see you reporting so much about your experiences, Glenn!

May I ask, did you also take an independent audiogram before leaving? That way, when you get back (after a while) you can get another audiogram done at the same place (very important that it's at the same place because there are always slight deviations in equipment setting etc.). If you are able to provide a pre- and post-treatment audiogram conducted at a place not related to Shim, we will for the first time have some tangible evidence as to whether this treatment works or not. It would be very helpful for many. Of course, scientifically speaking it might still not say all that much, since it's a study of n=1, i.e. just one person, but we have to start somewhere.
