South Korean Clinic Treatment (Dr. Minbo Shim)

stating that PRP was successfully used to regenerating smelling (olfaction).

I posted that to counter your assertion that his methods haven't been independently validated, and they were. At least, his claim to regenerate olfaction.

The results were far from conclusive, and no placebo could be used as a control. I wouldn't put much emphasis on that study for making an informed opinion about Dr Shim injecting an unknown cocktail into your ear.

Ed, you posted a picture from his site saying in 2014 that he successfully treated hearing loss and olfaction and stated it's been 4 years since that and it hasnt been independently verified.

I posted a study that was a human trial from 2016 from a peer reviewed journal that showed his exact method did in fact restore olfaction very efficiently.

Nothing on hearing, but it lends legitimacy to his claims.

John, I've got to be honest, but I'm losing the will to live here . Are you working for him or something? You're just not making any sense. To me at least.

you're clearly obsessed with me. very strange.

I could say the same about you . I often post where I see crazy claims or unproven methods presented as fact. There needs to be more balance because some people will believe anything they read.

Every time I'm ready to move on I keep getting requoted and on we go. Let's just say we've both given our opinion and that's that :beeranimation:. I've got nothing left to say, anyway, which I'm sure is a great relief to many members :D

@Ed209

I've done easily around 200 hours or researching and reading journal articles and sharing my results here.

Why am I doing this? Because I have friken tinnitus man. It's ruining my life. I can't enjoy myself or properly relax.

Trust me, I'd love to know up or down if this is real. I just want my life back, I'm tired of having to get away my son because he's being loud. I want to hear music again like I remember.

Please can you not counter my scientific evidence with other scientific evidence, because being in the middle here is driving my insane. One thing I'd love is a paper that said "Dr. Minbo Shim Can Definitely Cure Tinnitus". or one that said "Dr. Minbo Shim Can Certainly Not Cure Tinnitus." I would gladly take either or.

Am I wrong that I don't just take your word for it or necessarily trust your judgement?

If there is some kind of evidence that this could possibly hurt any of us I would love to see it so I can get all of this out of my mind and accept my situation so I can focus on trying to reclaim my life, and possibly flying to Ireland to get a crate of Neuromods.

I get it, but I have no idea if he is legit or not. I am not proclaiming to know one way or the other, but I am using reasoning to show some serious issues with how he presents this procedure. I cannot get past the fact that he didn't think a study was worth publishing, and for me that's indefensible.

If I found a potential way of reversing paralysis, I would study my hypothesis and prove my concept, and then I'd publish my findings in a journal. If it was found to be efficacious, I would attend seminars and conferences to disseminate and teach my method to neurologists around the world. I would not open up a clinic and start selling my treatment to people without clinical evidence. I would like people to be able to independently verify that my method works without having to hear it from me. I would also explain the pros and cons of having it done as no medical procedure is completely without risk (I've noticed Minbo only seems to talk about positive outcomes).

Having said all this, I understand the desperation of wanting to be fixed - to be cured - but this can blind us.

Sobering reading John and Ed debate. ....f- king bummer, death sentence tinnitus is.
Ed's words and S Hellers words are poignant and can't be easily dismissed. Really why wouldn't a pioneering doctor not enlighten other doctors to his discovery and become a Nobel prize winner and world famous.

Around and around we go with the mysterious, dodgy, and elusive doctor who claims to be able to restore hearing, springs for expensive dinners, poses for photos, but is still an enigma. What is in the cocktail? Why aren't other Korean ENTs or doctors from anywhere doing this, or are they. Why hasn't the ATA or any freaking organization contacted him, visited him, and had someone try the f:king therapy, so we can know. I really consider everyone hear a comrade, a brother and sister, of this horrid and difficult plight. I am disillusioned and sad as so many people hear are.

Got to hang on, we all have to hang on.
I wish you all peace, and freedom from this condition.

We will find out eventually, I hope. But, as John has been saying, the science surrounding this makes it very plausible. I would much rather have someone investigate than automatically be so dismissive. To me, this has earned my attention to where I won't leave this be until someone actually goes there to investigate. We can debate the science all we want, but none of us will actually know for certain until then.

Logging back in after 2 years. As I expect nothing has changed.

Have a thread on IGF-1 for SSHL, in short since I've done 3 courses of IGF1 since, both acute high dose and long chronic dosage and little to no effect on hearing. If it did work then bodybuilders would have amazing hearing, in reality its the opposite.

I sure as hell would not intratympanic injections, unless it 100% works, forget about it. Way too high a risk. So I decided to flood my body with IGF-1 instead, safer.

The cure is microsurgery in the vessel supplying the cochlea and not any chemical. So any snake oil of the day pops up I'd ask them for the logical basis of their treatment.

You're so wrong. Stop spreading misinformation and slandering people that you don't anything about.

Because they inject IGF-1 into their eardrums?

There is a membrane that filters systemic blood flow from the inner ear fluids. Hence the need for

INTRATYMPANIC INJECTIONS.

Your statement is totally wrong.

Do some research, it's fun!

Did anyone actually have this treatment?
Hi there,

4 people had the treatment. 2 were worse after the treatment, 1 it did nothing for, and 1 said it helped him.

It's a waste of time, and expensive... read back if you are really curious.

There are no miracles, but if you look on the Research News section, you may find some hopeful drugs in development and even being trialed.

Take care,
D
