South Korean Clinic Treatment (Dr. Minbo Shim)

Dr. Minbo Shim has a booth at an ENT conference in Orlando, Florida on June 25-27th, 2022.

Pan Am Congress of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery (panamorl2022.org)

Above is the link. Hopefully he will find some doctors that will want to adopt his PRP injection procedure in the USA...

Update:

He might treat my ear in Sarasota after the Orlando conference at another doctor's office I saw in Sarasota before. I'll keep the forum updated. They are going to meet at the Orlando conference. I patched the two of them together through email. I could be the first patient (patient zero) to have Dr. Minbo's treatment in the USA in early July.

My first treatment with Dr. Shim's protocol is tomorrow at 9:30AM EST in Sarasota. I guess there are other people getting treated there tomorrow as well? I will keep everyone here informed.

Someone should tell Dr. Shim to look into intratympanic injections of 7,8-DHF. It restores IHC synapses and increases neurite outgrowth and is very cheap.

I literally have some in my draw but no doctor in Australia would dare doing a DIY intratympanic injection lol.

Best of luck to you.

I had my first bone marrow injection today at around 11AM. Two more weeks of treatment coming up... Both PRP / Laser Light Therapy & Bone Marrow injections.
Hey congrats @scotty03874!

Wishing you success. A couple questions;

Is Dr. Shim staying in the States to do the rest of your treatments?

Cost?

Is the Doctor's office you're receiving treatment at learning the procedure as well?

No. Dr. Shim is leaving in two days so the other doctor will take over. Same price he charges is Korea / $9000.00 USD. He is training lots of doctors to do this in the USA now. He said he signed up over 40 ENTs at the ENT conference in Orlando this past weekend. Check out his new website (link in previous post).

Whoa. So can anyone sign up with your physician to do this now?

Yes, that is correct. Advanced Rejuvenation in Sarasota, FL. You might want to hold off until it fully sets in. Dr. Minbo Shim who was there today told me it could take a month or two to see results...

Best of luck to you! How bad was the pain? Are you getting this treatment mainly for hearing loss?
Pain wasn't that bad during the bone marrow extraction from my pelvis; they inject you with lidocaine. The PRP doesn't hurt at all... Just your ear feels clogged afterwards...

I'm doing a total of 2 bone marrow ear injections and 3 PRP injections plus LLLT. I guess the laser helps activate the regenerative cells.

Yes, hearing loss and tinnitus.
Nice! How many injections is the treatment? It's $9k per ear?
If it's just PRP, it's around 6-8 injections. Yes, I believe $9000 per ear.

Definitely going to follow your results with the PRP. What level and frequencies of hearing loss do you have?
Here are my losses...

250 Hz: 40 dB
500 Hz: 35 dB
1000 Hz: 20 dB
2000 Hz: 10 dB
3000 Hz: 40 dB
4000 Hz: 55 dB
6000 Hz: 15 dB
8000 Hz: 10 dB

Dr. Shim said it could take one to three months to realize the results, for your information, if I get any...

Hi Scotty. Just want to say I'm really rooting for you and that you are pioneering something to potentially benefit many of us.

I take it you know about @JohnAdams who evidently got cured by this procedure. But he had like 70 PRP injections.

It is a little bit of a shame that you don't have an extended audiogram, as that would be really interesting to see post results at the really high end as well. Theoretically, if it works, it would have a more profound healing potential of the higher frequencies as they are closer to the round window.

Last thing, you do not have any kind of sound sensitivity (hyperacusis)?

Either way, best of luck to you!

Thanks. Hoping you see some positive results with this. Definitely worth a try.

Dr. Shim told me today @JohnAdams went to Korea twice to see him. He did indicate lower frequencies are easier to treat with PRP than the higher ones. I do have hyperacusis a little bit too. Probably because I wear a hearing aid which amplifies the sounds.

Man, if you get any relief from this, I am going to have to find my way to this clinic. I have high pitched reactive tinnitus and hyperacusis, but I need anyyyyyyything that will give me some breathing room.

My left ear drives me crazy with noise but I'm not sure if it's from an airplane barotrauma or inflammation in my left jaw from bone on bone. My right ear seems fine.

I will keep the entire forum updated.

Let me first post my results in the next 2 months and I'll put you in contact with him in FL.

Would you consider any improvement in the thresholds a success or are you trying to reach a certain dB?
