South Korean Clinic Treatment (Dr. Minbo Shim)

Says it also involves a cochlear implant. Maybe you could ask to get the PRP alone though.

What is a cochlear implant like in regards to tinnitus and hyperacusis? I don't like the idea of it at all myself since it removes the option of potentially getting something like FX-322 in the future.
I think he means the injection can replace a cochlear implant or hearing aid.

Can you get the hearing back after it heals? Why are the injections necessary?
To regain lost hearing. That was the whole reason I went to have the procedure done. Only time will tell. It's only been 4.5 weeks. It can take months for regenerative medicine to work. But I gave it a shot.

Thanks for the info. I'll stay tuned. How much are you expecting to regain? I have to admit even 10 dB is worth every penny.

Regenerating nerves especially is an extremely slow process. The people who got stem cells in StemCells21 took about 8 months roughly to feel the best effects.

Hey, I forgot to ask, were they combining laser therapy with your injections? They want me to do 10 but I would have to stay in Sarasota for 2 weeks, not sure if I'm up for that.
Yes, I did laser too. I've had NO changes in my hearing or tinnitus. The first time I went there (September 2019), the laser helped my tinnitus. But this time with the expensive injections no changes as of yet...

I hope you see changes. I heard some pain hyperacusis people worsening from the laser so I had to ask.

They said it makes your ears feel warm? I read it adds inflammation, then triggers healing, but not too sure about it but they recommend it together with the injections.

You got pretty bad damage too, right? Might take a while to see results.

My audiogram up to 16 kHz is perfect, yet I have catastrophic noxacusis. Maybe I have like a few hair cells that need to be restored and I'm home free.

Probably going to go up in a few weeks and see how it goes.

I am talking with Dr. Shim today and hoping to try his treatment. I was just diagnosed with SSHL 4 weeks ago. I have done IT steroids, Vinpocetine, Ginkgo biloba and other supplements. My hearing is better but I still have some pressure issues and vertigo from a Medrol dose pack.

I've had no changes from his treatment. Can't recommend it at this point in time yet. Roll of the dice for you. Just my honest opinion...

Sorry to hear it hasn't helped. It sounded hopeful. Still maybe some delayed effects potentially?

Any plans on what you're doing next? You have some surgery upcoming?

Potentially, that's what I'm hoping for... Dr. Shim said it could take up to 4 months.

Who treated who?
I lost my hearing from a medication called Diamox 4 weeks ago. The ENT gave me IT steroids and some oral steroids which did help. I am also doing red light therapy, and PEMF therapy too. At this point I am throwing everything I can at it and that is why I may try Dr. Shim's method. I had PRP and stem cells on my body before and it helped so I hope for the hearing it does too.

If you don't mind me asking, what clinic did you go to for PRP/stem cells?

I had a TBI last year and have hidden hearing loss so I'm looking at giving stem cells a go, just trying to determine which clinic I'll use. Always good to hear that people have had some success.

Advanced Rejuvenation in Sarasota, FL. Scroll back a couple pages for what I experienced there.

Ah cheers. From what I remember you had no changes from there but @Jason-S-Hearing had some success?
Another member went to Dr. Shim's office in Korea. Two actually. @JohnAdams I think and someone else. There's a whole other thread for it. I think they both saw some improvement but weren't sure if it was the treatment or something else.

I am 4 weeks out from SSHL from Diamox (medication). I have had some success up to this point with 3 steroid injections, super high dose Vinpocetin, BPC-157 and ARA-290 peptides. My tinnitus is way lower, hearing has normalized... somewhat. But I feel like trying Dr. Shim's PRP to the ear so I am going to Spokan Washington 9/19 to visit him and Dr. Patrick Love for injections. I am doing this because the medication caused Meniere's like symptoms.

Thanks. I'm just happy my hearing is still really good and hope this will recover the rest. It's been a year for you since Dr. Jon and Dr. Shim?

How long did your ears feel full after the treatment? Dr. Shim says a few hours?
It's only been two months and a week since I got treated. My ears felt full for like a week, maybe ten days...

I just got my first injections today. I have a little ear fullness and some pain but otherwise not bad.

Did he do injections every other day for you?

So tired after flying and the treatment.
