The Addictive Nature of Tinnitus Talk...

A person found a way to improve their tinnitus and move on, that's the important thing.

A person found a way to improve their reaction toward living with tinnitus and moved on, that's the important thing.

Just thinking out loud here.

My name is emmalee and I am a Tinnitus Talk addict.

It's simple, I come here to interact with people who are living what I am living, while still trying to just live.

Makes sense to me, lol.

I come for the support, encouragement and friendships.

Absolutely Ema - me too.
The only advantage of having Tinnitus, that I
can think of, is that we can come on here and make some great knowledgable friends.
And I'm as big a "haddick" as anybody....

That is funny Jazzer.

This is why I decided to join up here and start posting again. I was kinda shy at first though. Now, I have a big mouth and will say what I think is needed to be heard. :sneaky:

@Starthrower

I am shy, too, and I am also quite introverted. Somehow, since finding TT, I have become quite the chatterbox. I am one of those people who, in real life, gets excited over cancelled plans. It's not that I am anti-social, I just prefer small gatherings and a few good friends.

Ladies - I know that this is a Tinnitus site,
but I am determined to have fun on here.
You may have noticed.
Don't get me wrong.
We all suffer so much.
But it hasn't broken our spirit,
and it's our duty to see that it never will !!!

Directed at no one, but a lot of the negative on this board is directed at healthcare systems. ENTs saying live with it and not doing full exams which take hours. ENTs are trained to examine the neck, throat and jaw, but some don't even bother.

Healthcare is about profits and insurance companies use payment ratios. Often with tinnitus one is on their own to develop a plan. Many non members may come here looking for a cause and plan that they are able unable to establish in a healthcare environment.

Some are negative because many within the general public don't understand what T & H is all about. Some with tinnitus need to watch what they eat, what medications they can take and noise exposure. I show as much compassion to someone that's negative as to someone that has an illness and is in pain. And that can go hand in hand with tinnitus.

Me too Emmalee!!! And so funny that sometimes when we have plans to go out socializing I hope there will be a cancellation!! It is so hard for me to be in a noisy dining place anymore. No big deal for me though as I prefer being home or in a small group situation.

I have had tinnitus for a LONG time and have been through so much that I don't know where to start my story. Each time I do I get lost. I do remember back in the day the strange world of internet message board wars. I mean serious stuff and I was so new to this world!! It was brutal back then and I got drawn into it which was the last thing I needed back then.

Today is different in some ways. There are still those "person"(s) who berates TT for various reasons. And I for one will not put up with the lies. I saw this back in 2002 and nothing has really changed. Except now there is TT and a threat is not present here. I applaud the creators of this site for having the guts to stand up and not let it happen.

Opps.. I seemed to blah blah too much.

@emmalee , @Starthrower ,

- will you listen to these two ladies, vying for position with their introversion and shyness.
I bet actually meeting them would be pretty awesome.....
I bet they're not 'shrinking violets.'
- just sayin'......

@Starthrower

No, you haven't "blah blah" too much at all, your post was so interesting to read. I like to hear about other members and their T experiences.

Okay, my name is Angela, but I guess you would not know that, and I have been told that I am brutally honest.

Hahaha.......how funny.
I scoured the names on here and felt safe as I couldn't find an Angela.
I totally believe in your honesty.
Just a coincidence......xx

Definitely a term I am not familiar with .......frightened?
Bakos is not a common surname in Canada, my Grandfather immigrated from Hungary in the mid 1930's and I kept my maiden last name when I married. My mother immigrated to Canada from Switzerland in the late 1960's, and here I am.... Canadian.

I don't get it.

Hi Sonic17 (Angela) :). I took it as similar to an AA meeting where people stand up and state their name and how long they have been sober. And perhaps some are not truthful.....

Like: Hi, my name is Jen and I am a TT addict.

Hi @Jazzer!!!!

@Jazzer nothing real exciting just busy with projects outside. Gardening and fighting with this stupid dead large brush type of plant that refuses to be taken out!!! I won that battle today! Now I have my flowers planted.
Never ends though.

frightipated

Hi Abakos - interesting pre-history you have.
'Frightipated' is just a silly word we sometimes use in the family, because we're silly like that.

My missus Sylvie has quite an interesting past.
Briefly:
Born in Rotterdam Holland, to an unmarried mother who had a boyfriend.
Her mother, who was cook at an infants school, eventually married a widower with two young boys.
But all was not well, because the boyfriend would not leave her alone and move on.
So the new Father emigrated to Vancouver taking the family there.
Sylvie was 13, and had no English, but studied hard and graduated at 18 in all subjects, only failing her Literature exam by one point.
She became PA to the principle of Simon Fraser University for a few years.
At age 20 she married a very bright guy, a geophysicist who was constantly moving around the world, being head hunted by various top oil companies.
They had three children.
Eventually they came to England, and there she made a dreadful mistake.
She came to work in my produce business.
You can probably guess the rest.
After three years of liking each other, but avoiding each other, we fell in love.
We've now been together for over 40 years.
She is the sweetest person I have ever met.
Blimey - I rambled on a bit there.
Sorry if it got a bit boring.
