Cause of Tinnitus
Still unknown... possibly noise exposure?
I mean, think about it.
Tinnitus is the kinda crap that happens when you're rushing through typing lines of code for a program on a Friday night trying to get shit done so you can go home.
What kind of survival mechanism for an organic being is this supposed to be? Ok fine, so you stood too close to that volcano when it exploded and you damaged your hearing. Fine. Let me not hear anymore then. This whole never ending noise in my head is completely unnecessary. It would be like getting your eye balls ripped out and instead of just being blind, now all you're 'seeing' are strobe lights of different colours, blindingly bright. Tinnitus is such crap.
I'd like to meet the guy who wrote the software controlling this shit and have a nice long conversation about how a bug fix is way past due.
Why the hell would evolution go way wrong like this? At the very least let us regrow the damn hairs like birds. At least that makes sense.

Hi. If you couldn't here anymore you would be deaf and that means you would only here your tinnitus. And that would be a whole lot worse. The sound you here is coming from your brain and not your ears.

Hi@Epic,
Rant a way as we all get like that also.
Tinnitus sure impacts on our day but we have to be strong and show our tinnitus who is the boss by doing what we can to enjoy life even a noisy one.
I have had tinnitus for many years and thought every thought possible but for me the only way forward is to stay strong.
On tough days don't give in and shrink to a sad withdrawn person but push hard enjoy the day with our loved ones and what we love doing and grab every chance of happiness and make it happen by making plans, pushing hard.
Don't get me wrong,
How can I sound so positive ,
I have lots of battles to fight with menieres and bilateral tinnitus and severe asthma but I won't give in ,never ever as I love my life but hate my health but won't waste a day of my life to tinnitus or menieres or asthma .
I might need to juggle plans about a bit but they still go ahead at my pace.......lots of love glynis x

I do not know much about vision thing related but I believe suffering from sudden vision loss would be exactly like that.

Well, maybe lol. Also, I dont think I got T from hearing damage... on the night of Nov 4th we were watching TV and all hell broke lose.
Gonna try that ketone diet. Would probably be good for my IBS too.

You're right...a bug fix is way past due. It does sound and feel like we need someone from the I.T. department to help us out.

Yup, the brain could use some upgrades. It's basically running on DOS 1.0. Remember, our hearing system is prehistoric and getting pretty beat up, by modern man's insistence, on pummeling it to pieces, with excessive noise.

Excessive noise.. Maybe.. I mean, the rainforest is pretty damn loud too.. So loud that you have to raise your voice to be heard. I suppose maybe malaria or a tiger will get you before tinnitus will, but in my case my T doesn't make sense.
I was doing snow removal last night for 10 hours, running a loader. My cell phone app (I know, not accurate probably, but gives me an idea anyway) dB meter told me between 75 to 85 dB in noise. With wearing earplugs that would be down another 12 or so decibels. This morning my ears are ringing and they feel sore. Not hurting, but sore, like a muscle would if you worked it lifting weights. They feel used. Maybe my T is caused from acoustic trauma from driving truck for the past 6 years, but it's only been 6 years! My employer is 64 and been driving and cutting and hammering and grinding since he was 18 and he's fine, driving older and louder equipment and trucks than I ever did. Haven't got a clue yet as to what caused my T.
Either way, I think my well paid career as an equipment operator is coming to an end... And I have no idea what else to do.. Its scary.

Hi @Ecip,
Follow your Hart with your job and I'm sure you will find what's best for your ears.

Snow removal sounds great as I love the stuff but I'm sure not as fun out in it 10 hours.
Hope we get some more soon....lots of love glynis

Yes I'm thinking of what to do.. Even if it pays less.. Do for work what you enjoy doing in life, they say. Well, I like sleeping. Lol. Maybe I can be a mattress reviewer.

I agree, it can be annoying, but that is how evolution works, evolution does not give a shit, it is compromise upon compromise.

I agree with OP, T is just silly, I mean, I would undestand a time when your brain tries and fails to recover, but once there is no recovery possible, just shut it. Damn I can hear perfectly my only problem now is that because of this stupid noise I have trouble sleeping sometimes, when before it only took me about 5-10 mins to fall asleep.

Oh so well said. It's like nits, they serve no purpose neither does T.
I find having it react to the least stress, pleasure, fun conversation, music nada nada nada. It's so bloody annoying and for what. It's not even like an early warning that you need to get some treatment as in a pain.
Like you say it soul destroying and pointless

I actually read an article a year or so back about the experience of a man who suffered from rapid vision loss and that's exactly what he "sees". A never ending collage of ever changing colour. I'd take tinnitus over that to be honest...
